Warmed up to a single at 225 for the press.

Squats were supposed to be 5x10 at 205. Wasn't having it lol.

Difficult to gauge what should be RPE 10 for 7 sets of 10 on something. Each rep and set didn't feel that heavy, but I was pretty spent by the end of it.

Going to Taiwan for 2 wks from next weekend for Chinese New Year. Will be a nice break.

Haven't kept up with posting for quite awhile. Life has a way of getting busy. A lot can happen in a few months.

I've kept to my regular workout schedule however.

I tested my 1RM on bench yesterday. I attempted 350 successfully. I did not try to go heavier even though I did not stick at any point in the lift. 35lb increase in 13 months I think seems reasonable. I know it will likely be less this next year. Maybe 2 more years to hit 405.

I'm currently stalled at 240 on the press. Might spend some time just building a lot of volume for 3 months to try and break the plateau.

Did 4x6 of 275 the other day on bench. Think that's a PR.

Press numbers are pretty static. I think I'll be lucky if I can hit 245 within the next 12 months.

Life continues to be busy with many changes but in a good way.

Have my first son on the way arriving in 2 months or so. I also just landed a pretty siginficant job with a company I've always wanted to work at. So pretty excited.

Had a good week, with the week off I was able to make it to the gym midday and it was less crowded.

Reached a working PR of 6x6 @ 275 on bench.

Today just did some squats 5x6 @ 275 and
2x6 incline bench @ 245.

Deload next week and then will pick back up with sets of 4.

On a different note; Since I had some rare free time, I played my first session of live poker in almost a year. I was surprised how little the live game has changed over the years. People for the most part are still playing their cards face up.

Had a funny hand that I wasn't in. I felt bad for the guy who lost cause it was pretty brutal. He 3 bet pf pretty big with AA and got 2 callers. One guy accidentally mucks one of his cards face up and exposes the J of clubs. Flop comes A J 3 with 2 clubs on board. Stacks go in on the flop and the guy loses to 77 because it comes running clubs and the guy had 7 of clubs.

As I was racking up to leave I had an interesting interaction with a guy at the table. He asked me if I was Japanese and I said no, I'm Korean. He goes on to say that he is looking to hire a Korean person in his company and wanted to know if I'd be interested. I wasn't in the slightest but was curious as to what it was and why my ethnicity would matter, so I humor him and ask what it is. He then proceeds to describe an MLM where the product is grave plots selling for $25k a pop. I would have never imagined this was a thing.
I had to cut him off a minute into his spiel and tell him I just wasn't interested. He kept insisting and telling me how much commissions are so I had to be a bit blunt and tell him that I have a high 6 figure income and have no desire to be selling things for the chance at a few k here and there.

It's bizarre some of the hustles you come across seemingly only in casinos.

Anyways back to health related topics, I've been trying the WimHof breathing method and I quite like it. I've been doing the cold shower thing in the mornings in conjunction as well and I feel like it does help my recovery.

I really don't understand the people that load up all the plates in the gym on the leg press machine and then commence doing sets of 5 with one inch ranch of motion. What is it they think they are accomplishing?

I mean they are getting much more of a workout through the act of putting the weights on the machine than anything else they are doing.

I'm actually not the type to care what or how anyone else chooses to exercise, but the thing that I find annoying is that these idiots are hogging all the 45 plates for like an hour.

I can only surmise they think it looks cool or something.

Hit a 6 RM PR today.

Did 1x6 @ 295 then 4x6 @ 275 on bench.

Time for a deload.

They have a gym at my work that's a lot nicer than the one I go too, but I already paid for 2yrs upfront so oh well.

The 6 rep sets really seems to have added a lot to the top end.

I think gym bros exhibit the Dunning-Krueger effect more than almost any other population. Pretty much anyone in the gym who isn't totally new to lifting thinks what they're doing is not just correct, but totally the ****. Those guys probably scoff at anyone doing full ROM reps with 3-4 plates.

Thanks! Hopefully it continues. I hit a plateau for a few months and then recently feel like I've been breaking out of it.

I keep telling myself I should go on a cut, but then my next meal comes around and I change my mind.

Saturday did some press.

4x5 @ 185

Today did Incline bench.

3x4 @ 245

My left elbow continues to be quite sore. I wonder why it's just on one side.

There's onsite physical therapy which I think it's time to check out.
