Thanks man they definitely are. She went from near vegetable status to wide awake and talkative in under 24 hours. Hopefully this continues.

Exercise 248

Bouldering 2.5 hours

Tried all the V1/V2/V3/V4 problems still up from the bouldering comp this last weekend.

Ended up projecting and sending maybe my toughest problem to date. I'd call it a V4+ as it has some super long powerful moves early and then a couple precise static moves on an overhang to finish.

Did the crux 3 times before finally sending from the start. I'd say nearly 10 total attempts but pretty cool feeling. All in all I think I finished 5 or 6 V4's today which is great by my standards.

SS1 4 sets
Incline DB
Cable rope crunches

SS2 4 sets
Cable flys
V Ups

Push ups to failure.

Easy run

11km in 60:55 (5:32/km)

Been reading more about this run and came to conclusion I've just been going too far and fast. Need to save those efforts for tempo and speed work. Set out with a goal pace of 5:30 and did a pretty good job of holding it throughout.

Next step in my running progression are some hill and form workouts. Try to get these in weekly as well. Loco on pace to embarrass me can't put up too poor a showing.

Quick recap of the day

Ran 11km
Drove family members around dallas for 4 hours because **** rental cars or Ubers I guess.
Spent 6 hours at ICU while my family blew up on each other
Stepped out to go lift to get away for a bit
Back not feeling great during DLs at 275 so called it
Bama face ****ing A&M in 1st half
Get a text saying family was pissing each other off again, raced back to ICU
Hit a pot hole driving back and blew two tires and bent a rim.

Fun day.

Early 2018? You should join and dominate. Thought it was gonna be a forum wide thing but now that Loco realizes he's a lock to beat me he has decided to not allow any more entries.

Damn that's brutal man.
A&M had some steam in the 4th I thought they may pull something off. I'd be thrilled if my dawgs made the SEC championship but I don't think they could do it against Bama, too good.

Back confirmed not great. Car news tomorrow, let's see if getting roped into the tire and wheel package pays off or if pthey make me file an insurance claim.

Spent 6 hours at ICU today after sleeping like **** last night being mad at myself for the car thing. Probably eating like 1,500 calories a day the last 3-4 days feel awful.

Decided to walk a bit around hospital and then grabbed an Uber to my climbing gym.

Exercise 251
Did about 8 rounds of

Pull up variant
Push up variant
Ab variant

Didn't have my shoes or chalk but this was a good way to kill 45 minutes. Tried to do some lower back and hip/ham mobility work too.

Favorite pull up variant was on the campus mini slopers. Did a chin up then worked each hand up a level, did another chin, etc... Got 6 total reps there felt good.

Now I'm in the most rickety Lyft ever heading back to my place. Leave for Chicago for work hopefully car is fixed by time I get back. Hanging out with a few girls who barely broke 5:00:00 in the marathon today, lol I think I could beat that first try out the gate by an hour.

Back feeling slightly better, dealership is gonna try to use my road hazard coverage for the car which would be great. Grandma not so great but last surgery tomorrow.

1,000m repeats

5:20 (warm-up)
4:17
4:21
4:38 dafuq
4:30
3:59

Wanted to simulate a 21:35 5k but that was out the window on the first rep when I went out 13 seconds fast. Legs felt heavy and used that as an excuse to cruise the 3rd/4th 1k's.

About to hop on a plane, hopefully get to climb tonight in Chicago.

Made it to a climbing gym in Chicago. One I had seen featured in a YouTube vid and it was just as cool in person. First Ascent Uptown.

Has a decent gym area too, lower back was feeling good enough so decided to press first.

Exercise 252

Press
4x7x95

Got done with that at like 4:15 and there was no one climbing so wanted to get some routes in before I assumed the 5pm rush hit. Turns out no one ever really showed up until I was done around 6:45.

On one landing early on in the session I landed somewhat twisted and my back made the same noise and feeling as deadlifts on Saturday. It's not a cracking noise, more of a crumpling. Anyways it made me super cautious rest of the session as I usually like to make big fun moves but didn't want any awkward landings so took it super safe.

Sent a good amount of V3's and a super technical slab V4. Got three vids but camera fell on the V4 and someone stood in the way of one V3. So all I have is this one.

Fun session, glad I checked it out. Routes were graded at least half a grade tougher than my home gym. So a lot of the V3's I sent weren't flashes but more like projects. Most the V4's weren't even possible. Also realized I need new shoes badly. Mine just are awful for heel hooking which I'm realizing are quite necessary at V4 and beyond. Plus I've broken them in so much the toes are kinda loose which is making precise footwork even more difficult.

I'm gonna take Thursday off when I get back and spend a couple hours testing shoes at my home gym.

Certiainly not the worst but still a long ways to go for consistent V5 climbing.

Ran four miles today and snails pace with a few friends. Legs are still super heavy. Might just do something like that a couple more times this week as a bit of a running deload.

Bouldering 3 hours

Really good session, sent a bunch of V3/V4 problems and projected a couple V4+ type problems.

Did tweak my lower back on the last attempt of the night though. Not good, guess I need to go get it looked at.

By the way, one of the runners had this 5k at 2.8 miles. It's very tilting, if true it means we are very close.

And my 5:57 mile was inadvertently only a 1600m.

Obviously in a real competition I would go dark and not post any updates. I am very competitive but I know at the end of the day this more about punishing my inner demons than anything else. No inner demons = no outer demons.

So just updating you. I am not going balls out on deadlift, you very live. At any sign of pain, I surrender on heavy deadlifts.

So at either 2.8 or 2.95 you ran between 20:34 and 21:40.

I'm at the top end of that so maybe an outside chance to get ya and I plan on working my ass off to do it.

Easy conversation pace run

10km in 51:55 (5:11/km)

Exercise 256

DL

Up to 2x225

Worked on being really patient off floor and maintaining back tightness. Did about 10 total doubles from 135 to 225.

Chins
14xbw (strict, not sure how many more I have in me if I make em uglier, guessing 3-4)
4x5xBW+25
7xBW+25

Random shrug/facepull/curl stuff.

Light climb tomorrow will end my "deload" week. Back handled the DLs ok but gotta see as the weight builds back up.

Exercise 257

Bouldering 3 hours

First the good stuff.

Sent my toughest problem to date today. I think my gym would rate it a V5 and most others a V4+. Did it first attempt today after half a dozen project attempts the other day. Sent another strong V4 also that a bunch of people were struggling to figure out. Did project a V5 but couldn't land the crux.

Also campused two diffeerent V1's today which is cool.

Now the ****ty stuff. I have officially hit the point where I think I need to get my back checked out. I really tweaked it bad on a compressy type move and it took about 10min to calm down. Did a bunch of stretching stuff and it was 95% good 30min later but this keeps happening and sucks.

Back pretty tight this morning. No real pain just discomfort.

1,000m repeats

4:59 (warm-up)
4:31
4:23
4:26
4:04
3:55

Total "5k" 21:19 which I think is a PR for this workout. Want to get to 4:10 average soon which seems well within reach.

Tried to negative split it but that 3rd KM always sucks for some reason. Did drills in between 3rd and 4th sets.
