We hiked in for 4 hours, camped, and headed out in the am. Camping conditions were good but once we headed out on day 2it was clear the wind was gonna prevent us from summiting. It was a massive mountain and real humbling, I can't wait to try it again next year. Winds to 50 mph and there was snow and ice close to the knife edge but it was still a good 15 hours of hiking over two days so it was pretty shwifty.

Glad you made the decision to not push it. Had 2 guys get caught in a storm on a smaller mountain in Kodiak back in 2001. Wind blew them over a ridge, one died and the other broke his back (this was in December with feet of snow on the ground). Didn't find either of them for about 18 hours after they went missing (didn't report back to the ship that they were off the mountain). I always advocate for taking the safe road in these situations. Like you said, there is always next year when you make those choices.
