Granted I didn't watch the whole video, but the idea of mid foot is widely taught and understood in most squatting/coaching circles.

If anything I'd say they're strawmaning a bit.

So you guys think I got the worst of that ironman bet that I posted at end of August thread? Some additional information about him. We work in a work camp on a 7 on 7 off schedule, 12 hour days. There is a good gym here but training for swimming is impossible while here. When he is off work he lives in Edmonton, Alberta. So any outside training is gonna be really cold for 6 months of year. He also has a tendency to have grand ideas and then just gives up on them. He recently spent 100k starting an ethereum farm (cryptocurrency) and within 2 months gave up and sold his equipment.

It's all about wim. It's a bad bet for the reason that if he wants to win bad enough you're a big dog. The vast majority of people can do an ironman if they train and want it enough. It's not like only 10% of people are capable of it.

That being said there is a time limit and if he waits too long he could become the dog no matter how bad he wants it.

I would suggest that very few people want it enough.

That's where I was figuring most of my equity was coming from anyways but I'm disappointed to find out that the not capable equity is rather small. I was thinking like 25% of population was capable of completing one but it sounds like that number is closer to 90% with enough training?
09-01-2017 , 10:19 PM
No ****ing way 90% of bovine America could complete an Iron Man by 2020... "with enough training" is a **** ton of training time, just tough to see many people put the effort in.

How specific is your estimate to USA#1? What percent of Aoetearoans do you think could do it?
09-01-2017 , 11:42 PM
We're as fat as you guys. Probably slightly better swimmers on average though. Not much higher overall
09-02-2017 , 12:15 AM
Why in the world do you give a **** about the conditional probability of all Americans? There must be features of this guy that would be a better estimator of his ability than that he's American. That said I think the most relevant information would be how significant the money is for him. If he can easily take the loss he's more likely to shrug it off, but if he stands to gain a lot he'll be motivated.

I realize in advance this post is taking lolUSAians @ 90% joke too seriously.

Black people can't swim. Neither can most Chinese in China.

This^ and your mind tells you the weight is heavier than it really is, especially when you are a noob.
09-02-2017 , 08:11 AM
I think 90% (of men, not sure about women ironnanning) could do it at the proper point in their life without a time limit to prepare.
09-02-2017 , 08:56 AM
If they wanted to, maybe. Hardly anyone really wants to.
