There's actually a lot of talk about devils presses instead, but I think it's going to be classic crossfit - some kind of Fran variation. Maybe heavier thrusters and C2B, or more reps.

How do these look? I really tried to do each step in Alan Thrall's 5 step deadlift setup video. The only step I had a hard time with was chest up while keeping my hips where they are.

Middle 5km tempo at 5:06 pace

This felt relatively comfortable and I think I am back peak cardio, this time at 71kg as opposed to 67kg around 6 months ago. Strength and cardio should be close to peak!

It's going to be my worst performance this open. I'm blaming it on not being able to drop the bar in my gym. I lost the will to pick it up to do singles in the round of 21, when I knew I had to lower it. I also went out too fast and red lined around halfway through.

Poor pacing and lack of WIM

3rd week of 26km distance is done. I'm going to do one shake-out run next week and then a parkrun (5km race) to see where my running is at. And then 3 30km weeks

Weightlifting

Worked on technique

Top sets were hang snatch (45), hang clean (60), jerks (60)

I need to keep the bar close to the body, shrug, and get under the bar. This is instead of using my arms to pull it higher and then getting under it. One of the hang snatches at 45 was maybe the best rep I've ever done.

I'm still kicking the bar a little forward, but I really tried hard not to. I think it's because when I think chest up, I lower my hips as well and that causes the bar to move forward. How do these look?

Looks fine, add weight. You're hamstringing your progress by not just switching to mixed grip entirely. You're making that 5th rep twice as hard by switching back to double overhand. If you used mixed grip or straps and just banged out a set without hesitation then you have this weight for 10-15 reps probably.

Thanks, just ordered straps. These aren't AMRAP sets, I'm just following 531. I'll try to switch to just mixed grip and see if that works. I've always avoided it because it feels uncomfortable to me, but my double overhand goes at some point.

I was aiming for 115x5, but chickened out at the last minute after a single at 110 felt heavy. I had 2-3 reps more in me in the 112.5 set though, so this isn't a 5RM, but still the most I have ever lifted for 5 reps.

For time: (8 minute cap)

Got time capped with 8 T2B remaining (RX)

Finished the row at 4:08 (paced), wall balls at 6:35, went 5-5-3-singles for T2B.

Squats felt strong, the form looks better just from eye test. The 5 sets at 60 actually felt easy, I was cutting my planned rest down from 2 minutes to 1:30. 2 weeks ago, they were so hard that I wanted to just do 3 sets.

Bench felt really good as well. RPE 7 maybe? What does it look like?

I have crossfit on Wednesday where we work up to a heavy set of 3 bench presses, and I was thinking 80, but may go for 82.5 now.

531 plan going forward:

I did 3 cycles of 531 while bulking. I've then done a 2 week cut and then just been maintaining, and I've finished 2 cycles of 531 for OHP and bench, and 1 cycle for squat and deadlifts (due to the lower back pain).

For the next cycle:
Squat and deadlifts - training max going up, staying with 5s progression and 5x10 BBB
Bench and OHP - training max going up, switching to an anchor, PR sets with 3/5/1 programming and 5x5 FSL

I'm curious to see if I can set PR rep maxes with bench and OHP.
