No, this job started out as being a CAD guy who occasionally helped out with woodworking. Now I'm the CAD, project manager, estimator, lead installer, pretty much second in command guy at the company and we have some big projects in full swing right now so I've had to work overtime and be out of town more than usual. I've had time to train, just low motivation and high stress.

Congrats, I guess. That seems like a meteoric rise through the ranks. Hopefully, they're compensating you appropriately for doing all of that.

Finding motivation can be tough, but I think once you get back in the routine, you'll be fine.

Not really. Like 45k a year in a low cost of living place. I'm learning a ton though about a lot of things and doing some good networking. I'm putting myself in a position to be able to do a lot of things in a couple of years so I feel it's worth it. And I like my job more than I dislike it.

Wednesday 9 June

Squat no belt no sleeves: 45x5, 135x5, 155x5 x3 sets

Press: 45x5, 65x5, 75x5 x3 sets

Pullups 3, 2.5, lat pulldowns x10 x3 sets

***

Fine. I'll probably take one more 20lb jump on squats.

Well that's not nothing. If DF II were still around he's probably be telling you that you need to be already looking for a better, more senior job at another company. While he's probably not wrong about job hopping as a method for career advancement, I think that if you're still getting something out of it, staying can't be that bad.

Are you doing CAD 3D or any other 3D modeling software? If so you can easily be making $65k just as a designer even in low cost of living places.

With 12 year resume gap prior to this and my construction job, I doubt very much that I could find something that lucrative here. I'm not well versed in 3d software. I work primarily with Autocad and sketchup. I am good at thinking spatially and graphic design. I could probably master any 3d software in a few weeks if I had to. Anyway as I said earlier, I'm learning enough about general contracting, woodworking, and project management that I don't mind sticking around here just for education purposes and the pay is a bonus.

In other news I rolled my ankle today so def not training tomorrow. Hopefully I can on Saturday.

If only you could work out a ton of body parts not related to having a rolled ankle.

Hell I see people in my gym working out in a walking boot, if you wanna work out you’ll work out.

**** you could craft a leg workout that wouldn’t impact it.

I could go even fuller Loco on this but what’s the point.

Love it. Spenda power rating up. It's gonna be sweet when eventually the whole forum consists of loco rants coming from everyone who has climbed the mountain. Sure, sure we might lose one or two on the way. And they might even blame us for shaming. But nah, they didn't really want it.

Ice cream n netflix is much easier. Father time will then soon come sit next to them, say hi, and enjoy the series they watching.

Loco rants are always high quality entertainment, right or wrong.

I haven't even climbed the mountain, and I channel my inner loco on occasion. I actually unleash most of my loco rants elsewhere. The correct ones have already been done, and I can't duplicate the hilarity of the more questionable ones.

For example last year I was talking to a dude who is about 6'2", 350 and his goal was to get to, and I'm quoting verbatim here, "a healthy 285". I loco'd all over that.

Not sure if serious.

I started with the basic premise that while 285 would be a lot healthier than he is now, there ain't no such thing as a "healthy 285". He then doubled down with how he has a large frame, high muscle mass (he barely even lifts and his numbers weren't great). Also there was some HAES bs thrown in for good measure.

If someone were trying to intentionally troll loco, they couldn't have done it better.

I worked out Wednesday and was planning to push the Friday workout to Saturday because I was barely able to walk Friday. It's not a bad plan. Not working out all weekend was just me being inconsistent and had nothing to do with my ankle, which was all but healed by Sunday.

I'm not sure that the negativity from you and Loco is all that warranted or deserved in this case. I'm having a bit of a rough patch in what is otherwise one of the most consistent, successful, and longest running logs in this forum. I'll do better. Maybe I won't achieve txclimber or loco levels of flawless but a modicum of effort is being made.

Tuesday 15 June

Pause Bench Press: 45x10, 95x5, 115x5, 135x5 x3 sets

Deadlift: 145x5, 195x5 x2 sets

Overhead Triceps Extension: x15 x3 sets

Curls: x12 x3 sets

Seated Row: x10 x3 sets

Forgot my shorts so I didn't squat. My ankle is still a bit swollen but it only hurts when I internally rotate it more than like 10 degrees. I'll squat Thursday. I'm going to change gyms once my deal runs out in July. It was like 95 degrees in the only room where deadlifting is permitted.

I am pretty sure you don't qualify for top10 most consistent. Successful and longest? I can buy that.

Too many gaps of not brushing you teeth. There was at least one decent one in this log and then the big gap between the two logs. And first log had some gaps.

Sure, sure, not mlyltyesque but still not top10 consistency. It would be super sad to lose you, so I hope you keep at it. I am still not over the loss of fakeb.

But in other news, I got an update from my boy N1. Got a video of 405x5 on the deadlift. That was sweet. A bit chunky, but still sweet to see that. Seeing that potbelly ever come back would be devastating. He teetering at 183 but I should have an in person update soon. Maybe he all muscle. He was facking huuuuge last time I saw him.

228 posts in this log in 43 weeks (8/20 to 6/21). At least 80% of those posts was a workout. 228*0.8 is 182 if you're keeping up. Averaging over 4 workouts per week.

Counting the former log which started in 4/16 we have 1314 posts in 62 months. So I've averaged 4.7 posts per week since the early days and probably at least 3.5 of those were sessions. I defy you to find ten other logs which surpass those stats. I'll even allow logs who have trained for under 3 years. Find 10 loggers who worked out more than 3x average per week for at least 2 years and I'll cry uncle.

A different loco would concede at this point, but that's not our loco.

405 x 5 even at 183 is prettay, prettay good if you ask me. Good for him.

Of course I am not going to concede. Posts is not what matters, it's workout consistency.

Montecore
EV (a small covid hiccup, but 8 years consistency)
Malucci (grinding)
Arjun
N1hater (I got the 405x5 video in my paws and he ran when gyms where closed!!!)
Cha
Rich Muny
Spenda (changed names but this climber no facking way he takes a month off)
Rivertilt (grinder alert)
Beechnuts (animal)
Floppy (beast)

I am sure I am forgetting somebody. And I am not sure of others. Aidan's time off was a disappointment but there is no way his body of work should be below Renton's. Or ISF. Even this xukxuk character might be ahead of renton.

And that list doesn't even include me!! I don't log sometmes but I am grinding nonstop.. I have not ever not brushed my teeth for 72 hours since 2012. Father time and his buddy the Grim Reaper took my Father and Brother. But they don't get near me.

Anyways, the point is please brush your teeth consistently. A few days off is fine but please panick and get back at it ASAP. Your teeth will rotten. Your mind will rotten. Your body will rotten!!! It's all ONE!

But I do consider Renton's success higher than some of those guys. He had a shitty starting point. I looked like a fitness model after 6 months.

I'm not sure how we're supposed to square this with the loco fundamental theory of H&F which states that if it wasn't logged then it doesn't count.

But I'll let you two work that out while I grab some popcorn.

Thanks bro

So I was ridiculously sore on Saturday. Decided to do Sunday, get to the gym at 12 and the parking lot has 5 cars in it. Turns out this gym is open from 9 to 12 on Father's day.

I hate this gym so much.

Monday 21 June

Squat w/belt: 45x5, 135x5, 185x5, 205x5 x3 sets

***

6:30 on a monday. Big ****ing mistake. Decided to put on the belt just to have the built-in reduction in load that goes with that and hopefully not be ridiculously sore again. Gym was like a million degrees and everything resembling a bench press was mobbed by bros with more bros waiting behind them. I punted.

Tuesday 22 June

Bench Press: 45x5, 95x5, 115x5, 140x5 x3 sets

Deadlift: 135x5, 185x5, 225x5

***

I finished the workout the following day. Gym was again a zoo but at least it wasn't literally everyone's chest day. I don't see myself ever pulling an actual heavy weight off the floor in this heat. I'm going to switch gyms in July.
