all over the place, but...

lol we have similar goals. Except I'm only 80 pounds away on that deadlift. My squat goal is lower (315).

when you talk about a pl bench does that mean you're gonna pause it on the bottom? Because ****kkkkkkkkkk you will have a hard time benching 300 with a pause.

also, idk what kinda coach you hired but my bf started training like a powerlifter (taking less drugs) and he's gotten unbelievably thicker everywhere. I've also heard good things about mountain dog training.

in regards to your squat video the depth looks fine. i'm not sure if it's just because i can't see but your feet look weird - your left leg is straight out and the right is angled out? I like angling my feet outward.

imo, the majority of t-nation articles suck.

Beata I think he means tucking his elbows more and getting a better arch.

I know relatively little about this, but isn't this feasible? It seems like since powerlifters are moving bigger weights than bodybuilders, they have to be more concerned with tendon and ligament injuries. And tendon and ligament strength is not as positively affected by steroids as muscular strength is. Ergo doubling the dose wouldn't be all that helpful to powerlifters because they'd still be limited by tendon and ligament strength, but for bodybuilders it means a faster ticket to swole city.

Also powerlifting is a weight class sport, so putting on weight very quickly and moving up a class or two might not put you in the best position to do well if it isn't accompanied by monstrous increases in strength. Which isn't to say that steroids don't make you stronger, but a if you gain 15 lbs and move up a weight class your total might have to go up 150 lbs to remain similarly competitive.

I dont disagree, but there are a lot of great articles and authors there too. Dan John is brilliant. Stuff written there by Mike Robertson, Eric Cressey, Bill Hartman & Tony Gentilecore is also excellent. You're missing out if you dismiss stuff written by those guys just because its on TNation.

idk mang, just reading Dave Tate stories and such, it seems powerlifters are just as insane with dosages as bodybuilders. and unlike bodybuilders, PLers aren't concerned with aesthetics, meaning they can run 3 grams of test and not be concerned with water retention.l

I know people that will run a lot a few weeks out from a meet. Ethan trained on a lot less and then just ran like dbol and a couple others a few wks out. Bodybuilders still take a ton of ****, especially ones who see no progress. They think they can fix it with more gear. Lol

Yes, this. My bodybuilding bench is stronger at this time. No muscle synergy from triceps and delts. All pecs. I will post a video tomorrow of both my bodybuilding bench and powerlifting bench. I will dump the bodybuilding bench as soon as my powerlifting bench feels and looks better.

Unless you're pushing up into elite division, how do you not see progress taking a metric ton of drugs?

Lower II
Deadlift 2x5 245

I got trolled by my girlfriend. Said, "where you going?" Gym. "In that shirt?!!". What's wrong with my shirt? "You usually wear XS little tanktops?". It's leg day. "About time."

Zercher Squat 2x8 155

Nothing to say. Don't know what the heck is going on. Pussy Pad in full force here. Its my second time doing these, so I forgive myself.

Some accessory work
Smith Machine calf raise 3x15 145

This gym is right next to my apartment. Not going back anytime soon, just wanted to use the powerrack. There is too many douchebags at this gym, so I figure one less is better. I definitely got caught filming right here, I get the evil eye at the end. Or maybe she was eyeballing my Iphone5. They cost like a dime down here. I mean give me a break, she is running around doing doggystyle type exercisse nonstop for an hour with that outfit. Plus I just wanted my H&F buddies to take a look at her squat form. I think MasterCha would say that there might be a little buttwink going on there and she should be careful when loading up the heavy weights.

I think padding is ok in the Zercher squat, although most dudes seem to put the padding on the inside of their elbows.

It also appears you should probably start at a lower point.

loco building his legend step by step, most excellent creeper vid.

No real input on the zercher squats except I think they're stupid. And holy **** dude, do you ever need some mass on your legs. Like, a ****load.

I don't know. I should ask the old man. He would probably say, "You are very weak off the floor on the deadlift. And since you have a tendency to upper back round, deficit deadlifts are not good. So let's try some bottoms up Zerchers."

All sounds exactly what I'd prescribe a FS for. I'd be curious to hear what the differences are.

Its hard to tell for sure from that angle, but are your knees caving really bad? It looks like they are. Dont do that - that's how people tear ligaments and stuff.

I'll get different angles for both my squats (hbbs + zercher). I have slight knee cave on left leg with wide squats because of mobility issues. But pretty sure its just a weird angle and my tiny kneecaps look weird. I thought when I looked at them from the front, there was no kneecave. But again, I'll film from different angle. The bar is in the way right here.

Might have to dial down the intensity. Don't want to get to huuuuuuge.

Heading to the Argentinian steakhouse. Big steak and wine about to be consumed. Also going to go for the guava cheesecake. Only had 2400 calories yesterday. Going to break the 3000 barrier today.

Saturday 2/2/2013 Chest, Shoulders, Tricerratops

Bench press 2x5 200

Bodybuilding style. Filmed into the shadows.

Bench Press 2x5 175

Trying to move over to powerlifting style benching (a la Dave Tate). Definitely need more arch. Any input most appreciated. Way weaker with this style. All reps in both styles slightly graze my shirt at the bottom (even though it doesn't look like it from that angle).

Close Grip Bench 2x8 155

Flat DB Bench (Hammer grip) 65sx10,9

Way weaker here also relative to elbows flared version

Other chest, shoulder, and triceps accessory work

It doesn't look like you're using any leg drive at all. The way it was explained to me was to think of the Bench as a full body lift, with constant tension going all the way from your heels, up your posterior chain to your lats.
