Yes, it's almost game time. I have arrived to the Big Apple, the weather is spectacular for running. Crisp 44-57F on race day. I only have my doubts because of the recurring injury and the non explainable heart rate data the last two weeks. Told my sister to bring the hrm strap, might use that. Mom is also here. Boston or Bust. They have cut me off twice even though I beat the qualifying standard. I will run on one leg if necessary, gotta get to Boston. And that requires a sub3 so I am 10+ minutes faster than the qualifying standard. And in the process, finally knock off my archrival pokerron. Over three years, JFC.

11/4 1Week to NY Marathon D3
EIM 12x200
5 miles 38:38 132avg

11/5 1Week to NY Marathon D4
EIM 6x400m +1x1000m
6 miles total 47:14 132avg

Did this at central park but couldn't conclude anything. I am going in a little bit dark into this Marathon, regarding my current fitness. But the good news is that I looked back to Berlín 2018 and found my marathon data. I ran a pretty good race that day and I can use that strategy for Sunday.

Thanks guys. Pounding a huge quinoa bowl now, carb loading commences. Pizza time tomorrow and michelin star mexican.

Here is the Berlín data, a race ran I ran pretty good (3:12 for the BQ in my first marathon). I felt at the end like I gave it close to 100%. I would say heart and lungs at 97% and legs at 100%. I was cramping bad at mile 23 but my buddy showed up in roller blades and propelled me to the end.

The data is so valuable because I can look to replicate it. The first mile is just HRM error, partially locking to my cadence. But starting at mile 2 it's pretty damn good.

What it all means is that I can blast off to mid 140s heart rate and then let it drift to 150 by the half marathon, not pánick when I hit high 150s and close the marathon in the 160s.

I know I am 3 years older but my legs much more experienced now, so I think I can still average about 149-152 heart rate. If I average 147, it will be embarrassing EVgonnaEV bullshiet.

It’s really difficult to force your brain not to overanalyse and worry a few days out from something you’ve been training for all year. I was very aware of this heading into the second competition and even then, I still lost sleep every night for a week and had elevated heart rate for 24 hours before the race and debilitating nerves the morning of the race

So I know it’s hard to let this settle your mind but you just have to know that you’ve done the training and that once the event has started, you’ll be able to clear your mind and just run.

Good luck, buddy. I really think you've got this.

Hope the weather stays perfect and there aren't a bunch of fats and donks for you to weave your way through.

Spoiler:

EVGONNAEV

Disappointed I couldn't lay down the gauntlet. But I freaked out when I started cramping at mile 23 AND my headphones died. Only layed down the gauntlet when I was safe at mile 25.

Still got the BQ (3:00), the CHIQ (3:15), and the NYQ (2:58). I will take. Good bye and good night pokerron.

My time was between those two. My strava time was 2:56:xx but I ran extra passing slower runners. The guys on my 'Gram know my actual final time.
