I had a 2 week holiday in South Africa. It was brilliant.

My weight is now 171 pounds, so I managed to continue to lose weight. Exercise wise, I stayed at 1 place with a gym, where are rowed 5k in 22.5 minutes. I swam 4 sets of 30 minutes, and walked up Table Mountain 2 5 times. (I arrived in Cape Town relatively late, so went 1/2 up the first day there.) India Venster was the most fun route I used - there was a little scrambling.

Today I rowed 5k in 22 minutes 10 seconds. I will move back into the Pete plan this week.

Today I did a 15 mile walk. This was the last bit of the London Loop Walk.

Yesterday, I went climbing for the first time. It was fun. My arms list all grip strength by the end.

I went go karting, then lifted afterwards. I have lost strength due to my weight loss.

17 May 2019
Did an hour yoga over lunch, and did a relatively slow 20 minute row (4323 metres done).

Weight: 167 pounds. It's the first time I've been below 12 stone for many years.

Went bouldering at an indoors gym. It wa brilliant fun - I will try to do it more often.

19 May 2019
Walk along the Thames Path, about 16 miles in total. Now I have finished the London Loop, it looks like a few if may try the Thames Path from London to Oxford. The logistics from where I live are a bit grim, though.

22 May
Climbed at a bouldering gym. I did an hour, and started to fall off everything towards the end, so gave up

Climbing. I managed an hour before my grip completely gave up. Did an over-hangy one that eluded me last time. I don't really understand the grades, but I think it's a UK 5 plus.

26 May
Rowing machine: 7.5 km. Just over 38 minutes, so a lot slower than last time. I felt tured, do took it easy. Average heart rate: 143.

Weight: 164 pounds. The diet is still having success.

15 mile hike. It was good - we got lost, and ended up hacking our way up a hill off a path as a result.

Facepulls.

29 May
Climbing - I hour. I got up one which eluded me the last time - I think 5+ or 6a UK grade, so probably v2 US (if I've understood these things correctly )

First day off for a while, which I needed.

1 June
Climbed for just over an hour. Again, I got a couple I failed on on Wednesday. My technique is crap, but slowly improving.

In the evening, I jumped up and down a lot at a New Model Army gig. I have no idea how many times I've seen this band - maybe 30 times?

Weight,: 162 pounds.

Nice another climber, we have about half a dozen now!

You’re in London? Which gym are you going to?

Cool, are you in London as well? Where do you climb?

My client moving so far has been Sutton(Craggy Wall.). Some other friends use VauxWall, so I will check that out soon - maybe tomorrow.

No I’m in the states but I get out that way 1-2x a year.

I do follow a bunch of London climbers on YouTube and Instagram so that counts right lol?

Cool - if you fancy a climb when you're over next, let me know.

2 June 2019
Rowed 8k in 39.30. Then a bit later, did a 10 mile walk. I walked through Epsom racetrack - I forgot it was the Derby on Saturday. It was open, and not filled with drunk people, do it worked OK.

3 June
Climbing - used VauxWall for the first time. It is a lot more crowded than Craggy Island. Went up some V0s and V1s. I fell off most harder things, but got one v2.

Rowed 7 sets of 500m with 2 minutes rest. Started slow, finished in 1.55 pace.

Climbed. Attempted on which was way over my pay grade, and didn't get far on it. Nailed a lot of easier stuff

6 June
Day off

7 June
1 hour yoga.
In the evening, 3x 500m row. Quickest was 1 minute 48.
Then I lifted. I started at midnight, and elected not to go heavy.
Bench: 1 set of 5, 55kgs.
Deadlift: 1 set of 5, 120 kgs.
Facepulls.

8 June
Rowed 8k, 38.23 minutes. Lost some time when my music randomly stopped playing early on, so was probably equivalent to 38 minute no seconds .

Not much weight loss this week - I am now 161 pounds.

I got bored yesterday after the row, so lifted.
8 June, continued
Squatted 80 kgs. This felt really heavy, so I did 1 set of 5 followed 2 of 3. I am definitely weak at the moment. I guess it's now way more than bodyweight.

9 June
Rowed 6k. This was horrible, I really struggled with it for some reason.
Walked 7 miles.
Climbed for 1 hour. The routes had all been reset, so my projects were gone. I have found a few more, though.

10 June
Climbing. 90 minutes. Good session, got up a lot of things I failed on last week, I think v2 Max.

Some people ther logs have had a lot of talk about mental health. I thought I would list the rules I live by, which I find helpful:
  1. Focus on the negative. Be grumpy and complain. At the extreme, bear in mind that death is inevitable.
  2. Don' t navel gaze. The answer isn't within me, and I am a fool and a charlatan if I think it is.
  3. Say no more.
  4. Suppress your emotions. Under the previous points, I am a miserable git, so this makes me more bearable to others. On a more serious note, shame, embarrassment and anger are all part of the human condition. I will experience these emotions; I should seek to minimise their impact.
  5. Don't believe random self-help advice, such as this list. The person compiling it is probably a charlatan and a fool.
  6. Read more novels. I aim for 1 a week.

I had some medical test results today:
  1. 1CA 38 (pre-diabetes starts at 42)
  2. Blood pressure 112/75
  3. Cholesterol 3.2

3 months ago, these were not as good - all three were high. Moving around a lot and losing weight helps things, it appears.

10 June
Lifted. Repeated the weight from my 8 June session, as I struggled then. It was was all lightweight this time, nothing but a peanut.

I also got 22,000 steps in, which is more than my average work day
