Someone dubbed Gordon Ramsay's insults from Hell's Kitchen onto an episode of Masterchef Junior

Been poaching mine most of the time lately, so much more convenient.

Creme fraiche takes it to another level though. I infuse the butter with a tiny bit of garlic as well.

Agree with AIOTT. I use that over easy method for eggs in noodle soups frequently. Soft boiled if doing 4 or more at a time. If I'm doing like 20+, I'll sous vide them.

I'm receptive to the extra crispy method as well. (Hard yolks + chop makes a great item to pretend to give vegetarians something that resembles actual food.)

The wifeacore likes soft to medium boiled eggs for breakfast, so I got her one of those Dash egg cookers and it does the job. I've used it once or twice for poaching a few eggs and it does the trick.

A question inspired by yet another uncomfortable situation last week: married bros and broettes, separate, semi-mixed, or completely combined finances? The wifeacore and I went out to eat with a couple a week or so ago that completely splits their finances, and had to watch them haggle over how much each of them had to pay, down to which one of them ate more shrimp and which one paid for the last Uber.

Putting aside the fact that this situation was just as much caused by them sucking at life as it is indicative of an inherent problem with completely separate finances, it seems like kind of an odd way to live with the person you purportedly are going to spend the rest of your life with, but maybe it's just me.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they have no children and plan not to.

I'd have said something with the intent of never being invited to dine with them again.

I frequently have the reverse of that sort of argument:

"Put it on my tab."
"No, I'll pay for it."

Poverty is the WOAT.

They actually just had a kid a year or so ago.

I didn't want to go out to eat with them for exactly this reason, along with the fact that they suck in general.

They're actually not poor, either now or as kids. I genuinely don't get it, mostly because it's so much more work to be that parsimonious.

People that have a joint account where some percentage of salaries are pooled to pay for joint stuff and personal slush funds for discretionary spending are retained is something I can at least wrap my head around, although the whole idea of "my money" and "your money" in a marriage is still confusing to me.

Geez, I've never done that with roommates. They suck.

If their finances aren't combined they aren't really married, just on a very long date.

It's actually more of a mindset than how the accounts are set up.

Monte,

Consider feigning sickness. Just make sure there isn't a lot of invasive medical testing. Maybe a heart attack where you get an EKG and they call you an athlete or something or the sort.

While there are reasonable reasons for private accounts where you draw a stipend each month, and even more esoteric and complex fraud scams that involve entirely separate finances, there is no universe where quibbling over a bill in front of another couple is remotely reasonable.

I hope the Wifecore was mindful of your sacrifices.

Also, lol no. As others have said I can't imagine being that nitty. It's probably not parsimony though, it's probably a technique to avoid arguments about finances.

It's a vanishingly small but underserved community, to be sure.

In seriousness, I did this in college. The person later threatened to stab me and is currently in the loonie bin with no chance to ever get back into society. It was funny to me, but worrying for the people nearby due to the ease one can get a gun in US (he owned several).

So while it is a LOL FUNNY joke. I'd seriously advise anyone who is considering helping someone mentally ill whether they'd willing to risk the potential consequences of a crazy person thinking you "betrayed" them or have "turned" on them.

Luckily these people just seem really ****ing weird and not violent. glhf.

I thought Gordon Ramsay specifically says not to add salt and pepper until the eggs are almost done because salt breaks down the eggs.

I like his method a lot, and the cream cheese is a nice touch.

Completely combined finances here. Doing it otherwise seems like banging your wife with a condom on.

Do they have widely disparate incomes, backgrounds or moral leanings?

Soon to be wife and I decided on a joint account for most stuff but keep our own accounts as well. We never quibble about money, though. It's usually reverse quibble. We both think the other one pays too much.

Finance wants completely combined finances after marriage. Lol no. Combined for bills + slush/drug fund imo

I've had combined finances with my wife ever since we moved in with each other (six years before we got married). Everything else seems strange to me.
The only married couple I know that had semi-seperate accounts is now divorced...

Maybe it was some sort of inside joke? Although, Monte is on the spectrum, I'm supremely confident that he is socialized enough to pick up on this. And if he had doubt, he would have mentioned it. So, I guess it wasn't.

I think that there are definitely good reasons why a couple would keep finances separate. However, virtually all of those cases are incompatible with arguing over a check while at dinner with the 'cores.

Not to my knowledge.

26ish I think?

Generally I think the need to not be beholden to your partner in case you buy a new set of golf clubs or spend an extra two hundred on your hair is kind of a warning sign/indicative of some immaturity about money, but maybe that's just me.

Just finished my squat session. Does squatting ever get mentally easier? I only do it once a week (which I'm sure is part of the problem), but I've been pretty consistent for about 5 yrs. Yet, just before each session I feel like I'd prefer a kick in the nuts, and instead of feeling good about it afterwards, I just think, "**** I've gotta do it again next week".

If I had a leg press machine at home, I probably would have given up long ago.
