They actually just had a kid a year or so ago.
I didn't want to go out to eat with them for exactly this reason, along with the fact that they suck in general.

They're actually not poor, either now or as kids. I genuinely don't get it, mostly because it's so much more work to be that parsimonious.
People that have a joint account where some percentage of salaries are pooled to pay for joint stuff and personal slush funds for discretionary spending are retained is something I can at least wrap my head around, although the whole idea of "my money" and "your money" in a marriage is still confusing to me.
