Plus the hanging one is also kind of a bodyweight test. I’m certain my grip strength is good enough but if I lost 5kg it would prob increase my hang time by at least 30sec (I did 50 secs yesterday at the gym)

Another mystery flu from China. This one hitting the kids hard. About 60% of my students have had it already and of our 14 teachers, only me and 2 other guys haven't been affected. I've been cutting so much lower food+better micronutrition+cardio and that might have prevented it in my case. But this vitamin A deficiency seems to make sense. The Chinese diet is enormously protein and vitamin A deficient. It's astounding to me just how little protein most people in China consume, probably under 40g of direct protein per day.

Doesn't seem to be taking off in America and this guy suggests its because western diets are much more vitamin a rich.

Depends on how much below 40 we're talking. If it's around 40 and they're mostly tiny, then doesn't seem so bad.

So if I’m 80kg is it 40kg DBs or 20kg DBs?

(Narrator…the man is not in fact 80kg)

adult males. My obese female colleague might have some sort of direct protein from meat like 3x/wk, the rest of the time bread, dried fruit snacks, and oily vegetables+rice are her main meals. She probably weighs around 170lbs at 5'4 so not that obese. Doc put her on metformin rather than saying "eat some more kung pao chicken and oatmeal and less sweet breads and candy".

How does one find a good family doctor/GP? Someone who knows how to do stuff other than write prescriptions and order lab tests. I haven''t seen a doctor in about 6 years.

Like what else do you want them to do?

One strategy for general competence, would be to see someone who is on the faculty at a medical school. If you're in Chicago, there are several to choose from. If they're involved in teaching, one would assume they have to stay reasonably current. Not a guarantee, but probably increases your EV. You might have to do a bit of research to make sure that you don't get stuck in some resident's clinic. But even that might not be that bad. My dad gets his primary care at a resident clinic in a medical school and he thinks they do a great job and doesn't want to change. They graduate every 3 years and then he gets a new one. There is always someone supervising them, but most of the time the supervising doc never even comes in the room. He's also pretty healthy for a old dude, so it's not like his primary care doc is really put to the test with him.

What "doing other stuff" are you hoping for?

I'd ask a local friend who they like. Failing that, read reviews on healthgrades.com or some other doctor review website looking for stuff that will annoy you. For instance, I dislike it when they don't just write the prescription for whatever issue I have self-diagnosed.

In keeping with this response, I'd probably never want to go to a doctor who doesn't start with the most asinine and rudimentary of things if I have not made clear that I have already tried. (Two weeks of NSAID and see if it improves.) This also requires you not to be a complete moron tho and 99% of people have no ability to describe what is wrong, what is the potential cause, etc. God forbid you actually write down things related to the malady in question so you don't **** it up.

But being a GP is super easy if the person isn't an idiot. You literally have a book where you look up what to do and you just do it. Like... if its too confusing... send them to a specialist?

Are you asking from the perspective of some weirdo who thinks its a health and wellness adjacent facility or somewhere to crush a few beers with the boys on Friday night?

I have a ~600sqft building on my house plan dedicated to just housing a sauna.

Not sure how you feel improved circulation, but I guess I can't argue with the other ones.

That's also the normal response to cocaine.

In any case, as I'm sure you're aware, there is some weak evidence out there for the benefits of sauna use. There are lots of different recommendations out there on regimens as far as number of sessions per week, duration of session, temperature, humidity, etc. Since you're going by feels, probably the best thing to do is just use your feels to guide you. Keep increasing duration and frequency until you hit diminishing returns. First study I came across recommended something like 45 min, 4 days per week, 70 deg C, but other recs are out there. I'd just find something that sounds good, start with that, and then adjust by feels.

There is also some evidence that it will reduce your fertility, so you may want to consider that to the extent that it is important to you. Might be a benefit.
