If you're the type of guy who gets his jollies spending a silly amount of time perfecting difficult pastry recipes and techniques, a good next project would be caneles. One of my faves. You'll need the special copper/tin molds.
I guess I can sympathize. I've been taking COVID pretty seriously and even I'd have a hard time swallowing that kind of lockdown for 8 wks.
This is a bit surprising. I thought sex work was perfectly legal in NZ.
Good luck. Hope you're able to get back to the training soon.
Yeah man, definitely tough with a 3 and half year old and still both of us technically working from home... but the money keeps rolling in as state employees and we live really comfortably so its hard to be too glum.
Yes, but they are not particularly good at keeping up with taxes, which gives them an issue when they try to claim the wage subsidy on offer (self-employed qualify, but its based on income declared - has caught out a few tradies who've under-declared)

I Jacinda, so this is biased: I think she is still doing an excellent job in a really tough situation. She's by far the preferred prime minister candidate. The right-ist party is on the rise, but it usually peaks mid-election cycle and then drops again as election nears. They can score points in a few areas, but then the public sees what nutters they are when they have to present a full portfolio.

rake,
You're not wrong, I've never had a mac that tasted anywhere near as good as it looked.

They look delicious. Excellent idea - would I be able to tell what a good one tasted like if I have never had one before?
I've been making a lot of custards to use up the egg yolks liberated during macaron creation - any other suggestions with those?
A good canele is like a cross between a custard and cake, and the most unique feature is the caramelized outer crust that should be almost crispy. The only way to get that look/flavor/texture is with the copper/tin molds. They make silicone molds but the result will be a more blonde uncaramelized exterior. The classic flavorings are vanilla and dark rum. You'll also need beeswax to coat the inside of the molds.
I had a look for copper tins and couldn't find anything in stock in NZ - I'll have another look. I was tempted by a silicon mould after reading this: https://food52.com/blog/20575-how-to...s-the-easy-way but it doesn't look quite the same as those from the copper ones. $33 a tin though is pretty ****ing steep
I have been making creme brulee's - different flavors but enjoying the tonka bean ones. Still working on getting a perfect crispy top
Got the night off. I find myself anticipating floppy's morning update, while questioning certain life choices that brought me to this unique moment.
Johnny was hilarious. My favorites were the jessie's girl, and I have this lasting image of him sitting on a bosu ball, doing alternating dumbbell overhead press, with a knife in his mouth. Lmao. Was he blindfolded in that one too?

So I went to a chiropractor for the first time due to a pinched nerve in my L4/L5 nerve resulting in occasional toe numbness due to a mix of sitting in a chair for 15 years/running too much on a treadmill with bad form.
Now my question is they want to put me on a 2-3 times a week 5min adjustment plan for 10~ weeks.
Does this sound adequate or are they just trying to juice me for something that might clear/resolve faster?
Not yet, my pain only really exists when I sit in a chair or try to sleep on my back.

Well that's my issue, I have no long it will take to fix this issue if ever. I figure maybe in a couple weeks? I figure 10 weeks is a bit much but I have no clue tbh.

Pinched nerve in l4/l5 - was this diagnosis from the chiro or some other doctor?
Due to sitting in char/running too much - where did this conclusion come from?

I'm pretty sure the evidence is poor for chiropractic adjustment helping with pain. Given time, many types of pain may lessen or go away. However, from what I understand, treating pain is a lot more complex than some direct "fix."

I would highly suggest you continue to stay active/exercise with things that don't aggravate the pain. For instance, if running on a treadmill is the main way you get cardio...hopefully what the chiro said doesn't make you abandon that.
The pain isn't that bad, I'm a 35m 6'4'' 200~lbs, living in Toronto Canada, unfortunately gyms are closed here again, and 12~ out of the last 24 months.
I have done a bit of outdoor running when the gyms have been closed, but kind of hard when its -13c/8f outside right now.
But hopefully the chiropractor helps mostly in regards to the awkwardness trying to sleep on my back.
My RHR has steadily risen the past 8 days, basically up one beat per day to be up 7 bpm, which is a rise of 15% and a higher RHR than I’ve had in 12 months.
I’ve trained every day but one during this time compared to the previous week then I was camping and had a week of activity but no training. But I’ve slept really well the past 8 days, I’ve cut out all alcohol and eaten relatively healthily vs the previous week when I was drinking every night and sleeping worse
Would it just be the effort from training? Seems unlikely given u train year round. Makes no sense unless I’m carrying a virus or something I can’t feel in other ways?
