Weird thing though. Did they stop counting the sleeves on the bar as weight? They look like the old school metals ones that weigh 1.25kg each but they’re not counting it on the weight they’re recording the lifters lifting. And I’m sure they used to?

It is both shorter and narrower. Most women are too weak to abuse them, but I'm mildly annoyed when I see someone squatting or DLing with a ~1k bar that was bought for 2-3 people to train with.

yeah, we have them at my gyms and I occasionally have to use one if the others are all taken.

Just watched the YouTube men’s 73kg WL - those announcers (esp the guy) sounded like they were watching WL for first time. Turrible.

The Canadian guy in the 95kg category looked like a caricature movie meathead and then lifted brilliantly. Think he missed a medal but it was really surprising

The easiest way to tell if its THE English lady is by her commentary on lockouts. She thinks literally everyone who has any elbow movement, even if the bar doesn't move downward, is guilty of a pressout. She will voice this opinion probably 10+ times per session.

not sure we'll see a more dominant weightlifting display than Li Wenwen in the women's 87+kg yesterday. Totally incredible - like 12% heavier total than the woman who came second and she looked like she was lifting within herself still.

this was also the competition where the transgender NZ lifter competed - sadly for her, she didn't complete a Snatch, but I do think it's probably for the best competitively. Weirdly, the American bronze medal lifter also looked remarkably like someone who would have been born male (apologies if I'm offending anyone with my blunt terminology..I just don't know the correct vocabulary), but doing some research..apart from a PED offense, that doesn't seem to be part of her backstory

I looks like a bicep tear on the lead climbing just now. (I am not impressed with the commentary.)

BBC athletics commentators are elite. Johnson, Jackson, Cram for track, Backley for field. All of them cerebral, ex-world record holders and world+olympic champs who are capable of giving real insight.

The BBC didn't seem to have the climbing - I had to resort to Eurosport. They seemed to have a rugby specialist commenting, for some reason.

The IFSC world cup generally uses Matt Groom these days, who is a pretty good choice - he's quite funny, and a decent climber. But he didn't seem to get any Olympic gig.

I guess I won't go out of my way, but I'll get some the next time I see it. One thing I've noticed about these fake ice creams is that the chocolate flavors are generally the worst, and unfortunately chocolate is really the only flavor of ice cream that I really want to eat.

I had never heard of Oppo, but it's macros seem even more ridiculous. Is it even available in USA#47?
