Heard a rumour Castro to be named CEO and Glassman steps down

I can see why they would be enraged at the glassman email correspondence. But I still fail to understand both the floyd19 joke, which seems very cryptic and open to interpretation, and why the followup tweet enraged people so badly. He seems to be agreeing that racism is a huge problem and is why george floyd was murdered, but that the same entities that failed to contain covid are probably unlikely to combat racism effectively.


Is literally the only acceptable line "BLACK LIVES MATTER AND POLICE ARE OUT MURDERING BLACKS AND WE MUST PROTEST TO STOP THEM!" or are they more mad at the emails and greg's previous controversies/alcoholism/antics or whatever?

I feel like a true aspie not understanding why people feel this way because of these two tweets.

I am not sure you are grasping how moral panics work. During the Salem witch trials, I am sure there was naturalistic interpretations of what was happening that didn't involve supernatural events and burning women at the stake, but the mob wasn't too interested in such interpretations.

What is going on here isn't too different as far as social/mob dynamics. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

Glassman breathed non-respect. In both post and apology. I could dissect it more, but will not. Of course not at this point.

The problem I see is everyone is so quick to throw out the racist comment e. I saw it as bad taste but not racist. If you look at his overall career he has done a lot of good.
Though the last few years of decisions baffle me

• Laying off a ton of staff
• Cancelling Regionals
• Moving the games to Wisconsin
• His focus on seniors and workouts with groceries
• Basically cutting back on Social Marketing which benefited the affiliates

It really seemed like he abandoned the affiliates with some of his decisions.
Reebok are big phonies as well as they were rumoured to be dropping Crossfit anyways.

I also think many boxes were on the fence with staying under the Crossfit banner now had a great excuse to make the cut.

Lol at not de-affiliating from cf like 10 years ago, at least it all came down at once in an amusing lol-worthy fashion that I got to read about for like 15 mins.

Regionals and Games were money losers to put on for them, especially when they were the media providers. Madison, WI won the bidding war And think they wanted games to be the thing to do in an area, small Midwest town. Accessible for more people also.

Games gave a ton of exposure to CF over the years.

People pay affiliate fees to use crossfit name and appear on their affiliate map. LOL at any business fretting over a $3,000 annual fee - if you’re not a home based side biz that’s not a large cost. Barrier of entry to a gym isn’t bad compared to many small businesses.

I have to thank CF for getting me into lifting weights in the first place. Had a few CG friends who were (probably still are) CF nuts and talked me into trying it out. I couldn't stick with CF due to prior injuries and also coming to the realization that it wasn't a good way to get stronger (what I gravitated towards). Without CF and their cult like following I would just be a fat ass instead of a slightly strong fat ass.

For you and me, any line is perfectly fine. So, don't you worry your pretty little head about it.

I love crossfit and have based my training on it for a few years. I used to go to the gym, run, do pull ups, some curls, the odd bike ride on and off. Crossfit gave me the competitive structure to actually measure overall fitness and get better at it. It not being a worthwhile thing to pursue on its own is a stupid thing to say. There's a ton of full time crossfit athletes. I'd also rather have the body of an elite non-roided crossfitter, than a roided up BBer. It's not even close to me. But you do you, and I'll do me.

Ive been doing CF for over 10 years. I understand it’s far from perfect, but for an old (50) like me that’s learned how to not be a moron with it (don’t do much Kipping and will not hesitate to modify movements based on how my body feels that day).

It’s simple to do (sign up for a daily, foe me mornings prior to work) and makes compliance easy for me. Keeps my vitals solid (rhr, bp, cholesterol), has exposed me to many things (nutrition, PL, Oly) that I may not have on my own consistently. Basketball was my hobby but knees started hating it in my early 30s, and CF wih squatting helped save that. Still play occasionally today.

For a guy looking to stay in shape thru life it’s not been a bad option for me. Someday I hope to hit 500# DL, 20 strict pullups to name a couple goals. Not elite but not bad for olds general population.

I enjoy it (mental points) so much more than trudging into YMCA or lifetime fitness to figure out something on my own.

But GG is an absolute douche. I was wondering why the gyms bailed so fast (the annual fee is loltastically low to have your gym show up when people type "CrossFit" in Google maps) but after the audio clip came out, it made sense.
