In other news I had a few floor beers and then took a nap on the couch with the dog and my wife thought this was hilarious and took pictures and sent them to her friends.

Can we assume these floor beers weren't immediately after a lifting session? While that would be hilarious, I think that sending it out to her friends would be a bit much in that case.

Well good news/bad news I guess. Good that she wasn't sending out noodz. Bad that you aren't lifting.

Yeah I should get back into it. I broke my collarbone almost exactly a year ago and had some pretty bad mobility issues, but that's mostly fixed now. I had and still have sort of a lingering phobia about putting a bar on my shoulders or putting weight on the shoulder in general, but it's probably fine. I'll probably have to do low bar squats I think, if I don't want to rest the bar on the plate.

Wow that sounds pretty bad. My understanding is that most clavicle fractures don't require surgery at all.

Maybe you could go full loco and start with some sort of split squats with DBs.

Well I have to say I am relieved that if I ever end up with stinky vagina syndrome I can point all blame at the male and accordingly tell all our mutual acquaintances about his appalling problem! Done and done!

Tom Platz goes over the religion of HBBS. Funny Genova-esque ments. Guy is quite strange. Seems to know his stuff though, and I for one will be joining monte on the feinting coach that the bber with the best legs arguably ever (relative to the rest of his frame) atg hbbsed in oly shoes enormous amounts of weight.

Why is split squat ( when one leg is just resting behind you on a bench) harder than one legged pistol squat ( one leg stretched in front of you)?

I think I got it. I go a lot deeper with a leg behind me because from flexibility and balance I am somehow completely unable to go as deep with a leg in front of me and keep my standing leg knee in a reasonable position.

Pistol squats are much more difficult that split squats.

Pistol squats are likely the deepest/most ROM of any squats. If they aren't for you, you're doing them wrong or you don't have the mobility to perform them correctly.

I have never managed a pistol (not much effort put into it though). Balance is a problem for me

Balance, rom, and that the back leg is doing *some* work.

I'm thinking about offering a freeroll to someone to help motivate me to lose weight and reach certain strength levels within 6 months. I'd like to weigh 185, bench 300, squat 400, and deadlift 500.

I have done something similar with a friend in the past where I gave him $500 up front and then got it back once I got down to my goal weight.

I'd rather offer this to someone I don't know this time who wouldn't have a problem keeping free money for doing nothing.

Do prop betting sites exist where you can make these kinds of bets?

Balance is always a problem for a beginner, especially one who is used to only ever squatting deep with two legs. With just a little work is easy to overcome though.

It will absolutely highlight difference between your left and right. That's frustrating to me. I can crank out a few pistols on my right but doing just one on my left is a struggle and is often only possible with some "cheats" and a possible unclean stand up.

Should be an easy find for this.

Almost any of the regs here would probably do it, I'd imagine.

Ship it my way if you want, I like a shot at free money as much as the next guy.

Ok cool. If I decide to do it, I'll start a thread. Thanks for the replies.

Why not $5,000?

Ha, yea, I'm very motivated by not losing money. During my poker days, I would routinely pull 10+ hour sessions to just climb out of a hole. This strategy would occasionally result in busting my account.

I could just escalate this to limb amputation or gun to head which would be the ultimate motivator...?

The $500 freeroll with my friend worked, though I ended up gaining the weight back a couple years later, so I should probably focus more on intrinsic motivation that carrot/stick methods.
