OK, if you need to wash the taste of those LeBron squats out of your mouths, have a look at this. Big, strong AF wrestler doing effortless backflip. This dude seems way too big to be able to pull this off.

Kyle Dake finally beat Jordan Burroughs. That guy has got some incredible tenacity. Best takedown defense I've ever seen. Excited to see how he does in Tokyo.

In Lebron's defence, there was a study a few years ago about quarter squats and vertical leap.

Yeah. I was thinking something along these lines. It actually seems to me basketball players just don't need the full range of motion. I mean... why would they ever do a full squat on the court?

Didn't Amare put on too much muscle and actually lost agility when he was with the Knicks?

I think this is the study:

https://www.researchgate.net/publica...ained_Athletes

It is pretty small scale, so it's not completely clear to me how robust the results are. But amongst 28 men, the best improvement in vertical jump and sprint times was amongst those training the quarter squat rather than full squat.

I’ve been told that if someone can powerclean their bw, they can do a backflip - more skill than raw power. Obviously that wrestler has practiced tumbling too.

Others alluded, but long limbed hoopers don’t necessarily squat due to risk reward for their sport. Also why you’ll see them hang powerclean vs from the floor, again risk-reward.

Should long limbed athletes (esp high level college or pro) be able to be taught/coached to safely squat and full PC? Yes, but most figure not worth it.

It's not just the flip, but he gets some serious height on it when he does it. I'm sure there are a lot of people who could do that if they trained specifically for it. Still looks cool when a dude that big does it.

Perhaps. I'm still gonna lol LeBron for that. If you feel the need to do those for some reason, you don't ****ing film and post it. You do it in the privacy of your home gym. No cameras.

I could definitely do that if I weighed that much.

Is this what we've come to? Squat shaming?

I've done standing back tucks while weighing around 280lbs. If you have a decent vert/jump, you can do one, imo.

Similarly, I could get out of bed unassisted when I weighed 240

Anyways, the big thing with that lebron squat is not the depth, it's the over extension. There is no way any true expert justifies that loaded extension. Even on an exercise like hyper extensions the goal is always neutral lumbar.

Donk alert.

Long live Canelo. That depth. That heart. My boy is un KO able. Chin of granite. Felt nothing from those Triple G bombs.

Come to? We've been here a while. We're not that far removed from the days of SS + GOMAD for all.

Mayweather too old and small. Canelo a light heavyweight now at 76kg+.

Mayweather a tinybro in the Ant Division.

Are we just going to ignore the pad on the bar like it's not even there? I'm old enough to remember when BustoRhymes used one, and let's just say we didn't let it slide.

good spot - I was too polluted from the list of Lebron's squat crimes to notice.

pad on bar is a level 2 lifting crime imo...inexcusable but not on the same level as bosu balls, wobble boards and fingerless lifting gloves

Come to think of it, I think BustoRhymes used those too. In fact maybe it was gloves and not the pad. Or maybe it was both. Whatever it was, thanks to H&F he changed his ways and evolved into the specimen he ultimately became.

How ya'all trying to pretend like a hand towel wrapped around the bar is the same as a pad.

Well I suppose we could argue it's worse, but I'm trying to be charitable here.

Well he certainly took it all in stride and changed his ways. He is definitely a first ballot H&F hall of famer. In fact, his most impressive H&F accomplishment was not even lifting related. He actually booked a bet with loco. Yes, it was just for a triple meat chipotle, but he still got action.

Yes, my only loss in h&f history. He beat me fair n square in the Battle of the Goldens. He was a warrior who took my critcisms and instead of being insulted, he took his bacon wrapped body and wrapped himself in Gold. Got stronger than me, got bigger than me, got leaner than me. What can you do but bow down.

I've got some ideas.

Hypothetically, you could accuse him of PED use. Or I guess you can claim you have a faster mile time and pronounce yourself fitter. I'm sure such things are beneath you, though.

Also, just to help you calibrate the loco sensors, this is what me trolling you looks like. I'm shooting more for a good-natured Monte troll, than a mean-spirited Thremp troll, so apologies if that doesn't come across. I'm just busting your balls. I've got nothing but love for all of my H&F e-bros.

Bigger, stronger, leaner.

Well most people that lift would already have the first 2 by default. So basically he lost some weight?
