Have any of you bros seen anyone log their diets in Joules? I don't read through all the logs here but even the Euros seem to do cals/kcals. Just met a dude (American) who logs in Joules, because they are a "more proper" unit of energy.
Joules and KCal measure the same kind of thing, you literally just multiply to get from one to the other.
I half-assedly measure physical activity in Joules, but that's because the math works out approximately right. Like 1KJ of physical activity, as measured by a power meter on a bicycle, requires expending "about" 4KJ of energy, because you're about 25% efficient at turning food into power on a bike. It just so happens that 1KJ is about equal to .25Kcal (it's more like .23 but close enough)
So if I look at a bike ride and see "500 KJ" from the power meter, then that's close enough to "500 KCal calories burned"
