I'm gonna say my budget is up to 40k. The top range of that seems pricey for a car imo. But I dno, 50k just seems ridiculous.
Btw a friend of mine wrecked her car recently too and every FB post is basically her crying and how much she misses her car.
OTOH, every 2p2 post of mine is about how boo-hoo I have to buy a new car and am terrified of driving in the winter.
So I dno......
imo if you have a fairly wide budget and know nothing about cars you might as well cut your budget down a huge chunk now since there's a good chance you wouldn't appreciate most of the differences anyways. Quoting you "Car, meh, just gets me from point A to point B" obv nothing wrong with that(far from it) but there's no sense spending more than necessary.
A fully loaded Camry/Accord/Legacy/Maxima/Mazda6 will run you around 30k, and when I say fully loaded, I mean it. These cars are very roomy and pretty goddamn nice. I would start test driving one step below(or two, you have no kids right?) and go from there. Maybe you'll appreciate the dynamics of a BMW, or the interior of an Audi, or the sedateness of a Lexus, but if you just run out and buy one for the sake of it you probably won't.
If I were me I'd get used GS350, if I were you I'd get a 2009-2011 Accord.
