This may be the case but I just want to make sure I follow your logic.
When a skinny b*stard power cleans his max. are you implying he has less chance of dropping the bar; and/or when he does drop the bar, bumpers aren't so important cos there's less weight involved?

People have pasted that video a lot lately, but it doesn't really address the question I pose. Ripp points out you can power clean with metal plates. I can also power clean with a 15kg 30mm bar but that's not to say I shoud equip my home gym with it.

I DLed around 135-145 at 270, and that's where I'm back to now on both.

As a skinny bastard, I can definitely say I fail a lot less by dropping the bar. Most of the time the fail is I don't get under it fast enough and I just hold on to it and put it down to reset. I've never failed forward at the bottom of the squat, which seems to be the usual way to fail at higher weights.

My single worst fail was falling backwards with the bar on top of me, but I'm skinny enough to pass under a bar with 45s. Nothing happened.

Anyone have good tips/techniques for getting better sleep? Both general lifestyle tips and when you're lying in bed and can't seem to fall asleep.

i used to have trouble sleeping. Usually as a result of 2 things. One, I just wasn't tired. Some days I would be in front of the comp all day. So when i tried to sleep, i couldnt cause my body wasnt tired. Working out regularly easily fixed this.

Also, late night poker sessions makes it hard to sleep afterwards. My mind would be racing too much thinking bout poker and wont be able to slow down enough to sleep.

saw,

a few tips:
- Keep a regular rhythm, try not to vary when you go to bed too much
- Your bed room should be dark and cold-ish
- Obvious, but why not: avoid caffeine and stuff some hours before bed

I haven't had to, but I've heard people talk about relaxation techniques as well. Probably worth looking into. And avoid stress. Easier said than done right...

Shrug, don't listen to sleep scientists, feel free. You don't seriously prefer a hot bedroom?

It better be warm at least. I like a low tog duvet so the room needs to be warm.

Freak.

I'm willing to concede I'm a freak of the opposite kind though, had trouble sleeping last night with temperatures of 7-8 C outside. My winter quilt/covers/duvet (?) are too hot if it's above 0 C. Viking blood I tell you.

Anyways, the advice was obv general.

No screens before bed - switch off TV/computer etc a while before bed and do something else. Helps me when I remember to do it.

I actually am very much a cold person in general. But a cold room at night is really horrible. I hate getting into a cold bed.

Hey I wear T-shirts in winter.

I don't mind the cold at all compared to most and am uncomfortable anywhere over 30 degrees in summer. I'm a cold person generally.

But when sleeping **** better be warm!

Read a book, go for a stroll around the neighborhood, do the dishes, practice your Chris Walken impression.

These are utterly delicious. I add a serving or two of mini chocolate chips and they're great. I've been using Syntha-6 Cookies & Cream. They're borderline too calorie dense for a cut, but that can be fixed by using a cleaner whey brand as Syntha-6 certainly doesn't try very hard to eliminate carbs and fat.

I threw together a quick Excel calorie calculator for these bars if anyone wants it: http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.ph...calculator.xls

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like:

Protein powder with 44% protein? Wow, that's rough.

The Wal-Mart brand cookies n cream is pretty damn good, and their Peanut butter is the best I have ever had by a considerable margin. Crushes the macros and cures any sweet cravings. I'm going to use it to make some of these bars soon, thanks guys!

EDIT: Both those walmart powders are around 80% protein(26g 130cal/scoop)

That's where I have mine (actually index on the ring). But regardless, I don't think there's any 1 specific spot everyone's hands should be, but rather heavily dependent on anatomy, type of squat, and a little personal preference.

With that said I think I read somewhere you should try to get them in as close as possible to get the back tight and flexed? Hopefully someone can correct/confirm me on that.
