Anyone heard from the elf? I stalked him like I did Holliday when he was mia from H&F but he isn't posting elsewhere like Holliday was. Guess it's only been a month. Maybe he's back on the bike and doing some amazing elf cycling scenic tour of the US.

I could have worded that clearer but dt is (mostly) correct. The gym is in the basement of the building I work in so I really have no excuse not to start lifting again. On the downside it also means I've got virtually no shot at scoring a pair of lifting shoes from running into BtM at a DC CrossFit.

You mean publicly what they state or what they say among themselves when they don't think anybody's listening? Thanks to the discovery process in several antitrust lawsuits, we *know* that the real reason is they'd just rather keep the money than let someone else have it. They seem to live in perpetual fear of the "slippery slope"; if they ever let a player make money off his own image, that would cut in on their action. I have hope they will get their asses handed to them pretty shortly in court since their case amounts to "settled precedent for everyone doesn't apply hear because of magical fairy dust".

Also the schools themselves could just go ahead and pay the players a reasonable stipend; Say $50,000 per year for the 85 scholarship players on the 130 teams or $550M which is easily affordable since they get $2.1 billion per year just in TV money. Except, again, right now they get the same thing for nothing so who wants to add a half billion expense just for the people who are the entire product. Meanwhile they've all created dozens of high-paying "administrative" positions in their athletic departments who follow players around watching like a hawk to make sure nobody buys them a sandwich or anything.

Anyway, it's a sick world, someone should sell tickets.
