Any recommendations for a speed bag? I have a cheap heavy bag that I need to reclaim and hang again.
I don't even speed bag.
Heavy bag is the GOAT cardio tho.
I've been meaning to do a boxing update in my log, so here it is...

tl;dr - Training going well but my coach left the gym. No fights in my immediate future. Will probably shift back to more rugby and less boxing in the new year
Training has been going very well. Good consistency out of the ring and I've done a lot of sparring over the last few weeks, so I'm feeling pretty good in the ring too. There are a bunch of guys preparing for a fight in a couple of weeks, so there is no shortage of sparring partners and it's been good fighting heaps of different guys at different skill levels.
However, on the down side, my regular coach quit the gym last week. It wasn't a total surprise, he fought for the Australian title a couple of months back and then took some time off and since coming back "his" team has been in a bit of a lull. I also think there is some discontent between him and gym management on a number of things - money, training schedules, fight schedules, general disorganisation in the gym, etc.
So anyway, he's moving to another gym, which is still fairly close, but nowhere near as convenient for me because I can literally walk from work to the current gym in five minutes. I actually think his ultimate goal is to set up a more formal fight schedule/season for weekend warriors/white collar boxers and I think this was somewhat at odds with the management of my current gym who kind of want the same thing, but don't seem to be able to organise it, but don't want to let control go to someone else... maybe. Who knows.
So what for me? Well I was kind of offered a fight on the night coming up in a few weeks, but it was a fairly non-committal offer and I didn't push the point, so it basically fell by the wayside. At the time, I wasn't super keen because of the situation with my coach/team and I didn't think I would get enough quality training under my belt in time. I kind of regret it now because I kind of just took my training (in terms of organisation) into my own hands and went looking for alternative sparring partners (because "my" team was mostly awol) and working with those guys and their coaches has me feeling pretty good. Alas.
As for my "boxing career", well I think there is going to be a bit of a changing of the guard in the gym. There is going to be some rearranging of the coaches, etc. and I know for a fact at least a handful of the guys from my team are going to follow my coach to his new gym, so the whole group will be changing. I'll probably stick it out here for the rest of the year and see what happens, but I'm probably going to shift my focus back to rugby in the new year, so I doubt I will have any fights in the near future.
