It’s not great but not bad. Livable, but I need more money for my spending habits. I have a crazy shopping addiction. Recently purchased the classic teddy jacket. Don’t even want to tell you the price bc of embarrassment.

I actually like showing up to work. It’s not as bad as everyone thinks. Most complain bc they cant work as a team and waste time standing around or playing on their phones when things can get done. And they just suck at their job and don’t realize it.

2 managers just got fired and my manager told me he is leaving for a higher roll in the spring.

I can easily lead a team, but I dislike meetings and nonstop connecting with district manager and regional manager. I am not a people person. But I have seen terrible managers and ask myself how in the world did they get this position.

I would expect this information to be somewhat dated and actual salaries to be somewhat higher (~15-20%). Obviously Hero would be paid at the lower range and get a shitty store.

One of the major keys in this sort of management is to incentivize your supervisors so they feel investment in your store goals. One mildly unsupported way to do this is to chop any incentivized bonuses with asst managers/supervisors/etc. (IE give them $200 or $500 or whatever in cash)

From there its a pretty easy step up into regional management assuming you can get along and not be an idiot. Also a lateral move into a better chain is trivial as well. F&B manager at Buc-ees would put you a spot where you'd likely have >40-60k in discretionary income to spend on all the asinine things no one cares about and get to live in somewhere that doesn't suck ass. Buy a big ass F450 and a 911, and just enjoy being rich. (Can pull down 200k+ managing a gas station fwiw.)

I had never seen or even heard of a Buc-ee's until your posts.

They're a chain of obscenely large gas stations. About half the size of an average Wal-Mart to put it in perspective. Ton of them in Texas. They're expanding really aggressively.

But its more to give perspective on how much you can make just running a single department at a gas station. (Which weirdly gives you a pretty massive livable area with a 30min commute, since they're located near major roads.) And how these areas are cheaper than **** so your discretionary income is obscene.

Maybe I'll drive out and visit the nearby one for some lols and report back with findings.

Final lift before holidays. Funny how a 24/7 gym will be closing early for Xmas eve and Christmas. The whole world has gotten soft these days. I’ll be working Xmas Eve, and also Christmas for the time and a half pay.

So have some left shoulder pain. Only hurts when I lift it laterally, like a lateral dumbbell raise. Almost a month but it hasn’t stopped my bench press. Weird.




I front squat on Thursday. Might rotate back squat and front. Front squat coming in nicely.

All this talk about managing, and wouldn’t you know it the district manager showed up the other day while I was on my lunch in the back room with my manager. He came in bc someone quit at my store bc of bullying and he want to get more info. Anyways all this nonsense talk and then he brought up how the district is in need of assistant managers. I think 2 managers left and we are short. Now he knows a lot about me as I help out other stores in the district and I think he wants to promote me. He ask me, I said it’s been in the back of my head. Then said we will talk in the new year.

Not sure if I will take it. It’s 6 months training with another store manager then you get your own store. Not sure if I’m up for the responsibility.

That is pretty much what the world needs from wagies esp in this level of education/career. Showing up without being actually mentally disabled and just doing basic stuff is all that is required. Half of being a dept store manager/store manager for retail is just making the minions do basic stuff (like ask if people want to sign up for the credit card/etc).

You don't HAVE to take the store after the program, but you can never take the store if you don't do the training. I personally would never take an offer to run a store in some shitty area that is a huge commute, but who knows if another store manager leaves to go run something else and they need someone in a perfect location. Warms my heart as well to see you becoming a real adult. Merry Christmas to us all.

Yuh, I might just do the 6 month training and decide after. I know numerous ex-managers who have stepped down bc of not liking managing. Basically get the manager pay for 6 months. Basically free rolling as we say.

Overshoot the front sqaut. Not sure what happened. The set before 215 felt decent. This left shoulder pain is annoying. Not sure to rest it or just bench, bc it only hurts when I lift it laterally. Pretty much pain free when I bench. V weird.

Very power session. My left shoulder getting worse. Might need to lay off the bench, but feels like that’s making excuses.

Looks like I’m having a meeting with the district manager on the 25th. I think I will take the job. I’ve seen terrible managers and know I am capable being a top dog alpha.

Also with the extra money I will buy a car. Almost 40 riding a bike to work. Sad.

Honestly don’t need a car. Just annoying in the winter to ride in 10F weather. I got good gear, but if it snows, it sucks.

Bikin in the winter does blow ass. But so does walking, driving, and getting on public transit.


Be prepared for a solid 10min scrape and brush before kicking off if you have street parking. I don't want to even talk about the horrors of shoveling snow. And what happens if you leave it for a few weeks in winter winter.
