Thanks feelers, it felt good, if way too hard.

UT2 - 55'

12969m/2:07.2/16.0 spm/164 HR/178 MHR

r2240m (10' warmup)

Stretched things out another 5'; felt decent enough. 10 am soccer game, then out all day, so it was a victory to get this in instead of blowing it off as a rest day. Think the wife wants to play tennis after the game, so should be an active day.

Easy morning paddle since I was up early; planning tennis this evening with the wife if the weather holds.

Best UT2 session since I've been back; HR was much more controlled and it felt very smooth. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Had to squeeze this in in the morning immediately after pushups/pullups and my HR was a little spiked to start out with, but I have an all day event today and then drinks after work with a colleague so this was the only time I could get it in.

always good to squeeze something in to make yourself feel better about some indulgence later in the day!

Lol yeah, no doubt. Had what is now a lot of booze for me (~5 drinks) Tuesday night, and between the hangover, work, and soccer practice I didn't have time or inclination to do anything. Just my second day completely off since mid-August, so not terrible I suppose.

Little more of a grind today, but I did wake up at 4, so who knows.

the sleep affects performance for sure. I’ve had two bad sleeps in a row and my RHR has jumped three bpm, despite no alcohol all week.

Nothing wrong with a complete day off either. I’m certain it helps.

No doubt.

Birthday dinner for the wife last night, but kept it reasonable.

Didn't really feel great after the first 20', but just kind of zoned in on the Ryder Cup and got through it reasonably enough.

Yeah, first one. Still not exactly setting the world on fire speedwise, but the sea legs are coming back.

Did UT3 after work yesterday, then tennis for an hour with the wife while the kids were at practice. Early this morning was the only time to get UT2 in given I'm making a birthday dinner for the wife tonight, and my legs felt a bit heavy so I kept it light.

Legs still a bit heavy; need to do a better job of getting to sleep on time.

Got my schedule from TG yesterday, so we'll see how it goes.

Any themes or highlights in the schedule?

There's a lot of UT2, as usual - 6 higher intensity sessions spread out over the ~20 total. Most UT2 is 60' total, with some days allowing for as little as 40' and some as much as 90'. Higher intensity work is familiar.

Suggested a 4 on/3 off schedule, which I'll definitely give a shot; given I'm still sloughing off summer weight, it may be hard for me to actually do that with any degree of intensity in a caloric deficit, but we'll see. I'm at 192 right now, so 6-8 more pounds to go - slow and steady.

This one felt ok but not great; slightly higher stroke rate to compensate.

Oh, i see it now. Its the same workout but you messed it up. Should be 10' warmup + 50' ut2.

Warmup can also be abbreviated as just up or wu and down or cd.

Had a private dinner (with wine pairings) with friends for the wife's birthday; had a fair bit of booze so I wasn't really looking forward to this row, but the kids have a soccer game and then we're driving up to Muncie to cheer on my brother-in-law running the triathlon, so it was now or never. It's his 7th, so I think he's expecting to do well in his age group. We shall see.

K.

Brother-in-law was 7 minutes off PR pace, but was happy with his time given the hilly course (~12:32). Had a celebratory brunch over here afterwards, which was a challenge to pull together given we didn't get home until almost 11.

Just 40' total programmed today, so I went a little faster throughout the working half hour. UT1 tomorrow if I'm feeling ok.

Was supposed to be 15'-20', but I didn't really feel great today, so cut it a bit. Probably means I need to avoid having something past UT2 on a back to back day for a little while.

just looked at your logs online - you went pretty hard in the final 5 mins of your warm up and got your heart rate up pretty high. Do you think that contributed to it?
