Your kids doing well at the low age end for their group is impressive. Age really matters at this point, at least it empirically seems based on my observations.
It really does; I have to fight myself getting too defensive when they play a team with six 8 year olds that just trucks them, but that only happened a few times last season. They're just aggressive little guys that keep moving, and they understand the game better each season. It's cool to see.
4/29: BBM Hypertrophy C1W7D3

210x8 @6
220x8 @7
230x8x3 @8, 8, 8
Overhead Pin Press (Shoulder height, no belt) (3 minutes):
95x8 @6
105x8 @7

Shade over 70 minutes, but had to wait five minutes for a bench, so about the same working time as usual.
Increased weight five pounds for each set of squat and Larsen, but kept OHP the same and it was still a bit harder than indicated. Last lifting day of the Hypertrophy program tomorrow, then the Strength program starts Friday.
Tweaked my wrist a bit playing soccer outside yesterday with the boys; we took them to a playground with wood chips on the ground, and brought a soccer ball and kicked it around 1 on 2 using some playground implements as goals. I stepped forward to pull a ball back and my feet went out from under me, and of course I braced my fall, at least partially, with my left hand/wrist. Just a minor tweak, luckily, but pressing was a bit less stable; I brought my wrist wraps today but didn't end up using them. Before that, we played a little baseball on a blacktop diamond with a semi-soft bat and ball and the boys hit a few home runs each -- basically we used second base as home plate, so if you hit the ball out of what the infield would be you hit it over the backstop behind the plate. I am notably terrible at baseball, but swung their tiny bat one handed and hit home runs essentially every time into the yard across the street, so I can still impress them a little bit, at least for now.
