Weight: 194.2. Shoveled and played with the minis in the snow for a few hours beforehand, then barely finished my DL sets before the gym closed so I had to do some random accessory stuff once I got home.

2/21

DFII warmup

Smolov Bench (W2D4, 265 working max)
10x45, 10x95, 5x135, 3x185, 2x210, 10x3x230

DL
2x5x135, 3x225, 2x255, 2x285, 2x305, 2x325, 2x2x345

Band Pullaparts (30 lb band)
10x20

Planks
3 yugosets of 4 10 sec on/off cycles

41 total minutes for the bench sets; got slightly tough towards the end but was never in danger of failing a rep. Back seems a little soft on the DL. Meh.

Tough workout, happy to be done. Did the planks with my arms a little further forward, RKC style, as SS and Soulbro mentioned. Definitely harder.

So what's going on with your Philly 69ers? I really tried to at least keep a vague eye on their status because I'm such a fan of MCW but now? Wtf? How can I even care?

MCW is a terrible shooter that had his counting stats inflated because the Sixers were playing at a superfast pace. That Hinkie was able to flip him into one of the best assets in basketball is pretty sweet.

I was a pretty big KJ fan, but it seemed pretty clear he, his mom, and his mom's twitter account had soured in playing for us at all, so I think they felt like moving on was the only option. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in that one, because Grant looks like he's going to be a similar player that's under team control for a while longer.

I still like where they're going, much more than QB's AIDSchise

I'm gonna weigh less than you soon...soon.

DLs lookin really solid. Nfw I'd have the energy to do anything like that after a day 4 smolov jr bench workout.

It is probably a pretty good indicator of the general state of the franchise that "tanking" for 10 years in the hope of very very very slowly building through the draft is cause for optimism.

Will be interesting to see if lakers keep that top 5 protected pick. They are bad, but the coach is trying to win games, unlike the other tanking teams. It is top 3 protected next year, but next year lakers aren't probably gonna have $45 million in salary tied up in players on IR, so team will inevitably be better, so philly wants it this year I would assume.

jdock, that you think that way is pretty indicative of the fact that you have never had to be an actual basketball fan. I guess it's not your fault, and it's hard to fault you for having been trained to see things that way. Seems like you are going to be in for a pretty rude awakening over the next few years; I doubt things improve significantly even once Kobe's salary is off the books.

Jellydick weights, though, on both sides. And if I lifted like that routinely I'd die; luckily my next two DL workouts are going to be on D3 and D2 (I'm going to run a fourth week of Smolov I think, just for fun) so it shouldn't be quite so painful.

BTP, kind of. Not sure. Maybe. On a strength block now, but trying to eat reasonably and not get fat. Since eating reasonably on the weekends hasn't been working, I try to keep a mild deficit on cardio days.

Weight: 195.2. Better

2/24

DFII warmup

Smolov Bench (W4D1, 265 working max)
10x45, 10x95, 5x135, 3x175, 6x6x195

NG Chins
5x7

Facepulls
5x15x45

Ab Wheel
4x8

Was planning on squatting, but the cage was in use and I was tired. Completed the bench sets in a shade over 20 minutes and did the back stuff in between sets, then did a few sets of ab wheel and called it a day. May squat tomorrow and then do some light LISS afterwards since I haven't squatted for a while.

When are you testing your max, and what sort of numbers would you view as acceptable, good, and great?

Not sure what the deload cycle after Smolov Jr. is supposed to look like, but I've got a bit less than 2 more weeks if I add another "week" to my bench cycle, so probably around 3 weeks from now if you add that in.

Anything below 275 is going to be pretty disappointing. Anything above 285 is going to be pretty surprising. If I could hit 300 by the end of the year while remaining relatively close to this weight, I'd be pretty happy with that.

Weight: 197.6. Ate dinner out last night because we can't use water due to the sewer on our street being worked on, so there was no way to clean dishes after cooking unless we hosed them off outside like poors. Had meatballs on top of creamy polenta, white beans, and macaroni. No ragrets, winter is cold and I like food.

DFII warmup

Smolov Bench (W3D2, 265 working max)
10x45, 10x95, 5x135, 3x185, 7x5x210

Squat
10x45, 5x95, 5x135, 3x175, 2x205, 3x5x225

DB Row
5x8x80

Facepulls
5x15x45

Pallof
5x10x35

Ab Wheel
4x8

Bench still was no trouble; did the entire round of worksets in 24 minutes flat with row and facepulls worked in between. Still having some slight knee cave on the later sets of squats, but a more toes flared stance seems to be helping me stay a bit more upright. Ab stuff fine. Barely fit into the correct belt notch due to fatness; may soon cross CB. Considering buying a scooter. Dark times.

You should have told me about the Simpson WW game. I was randomly browsing POG and saw it. I am not gonna do every game, but wouldn't mind doing one of the bigger interesting themed ones every once in a while. Definitely give me heads up next time they plan a GoT one please.

Also, Simmons has been talking a lot about the Sixers recently on his recent pods. His opinion is that basically the GM is trying to get lucky and accrue as many high draft picks as possible to draft the next Lebron James or Anthony Davis, which is what you really need to become a perennial championshp contender. He also thinks it unlikely the plan will work, as you really need to get lucky to get the right draft pick the right year (For example neither of the last 2 drafts seems like it will produce a franchise cornerstone type player).

2/28

DFII warmup

Smolov Bench (W3D3, 265 working max)
10x45, 10x95, 5x135, 3x185, 2x205, 8x4x225

DL
2x5x135, 3x225, 2x255, 2x285, 2x305, 2x325, 2x2x345

NG Chin
5x7xbw

Facepulls
5x15x45

Pallof
5x10x35

Ab Wheel
4x8

Did the bench in 29 minutes flat and was never in danger of missing reps; videoed the last few sets and I'm still bringing the bar down unevenly (lower on the left). Need to work on that. DL was pretty fine-ish through 325, but the 345 doubles looked jdockian. Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to pull very heavy during Smolov, so I'll probably stick to 315 triples or something and then do M/O once I'm done with this strength block.

70 seconds in between chin sets, 105 seconds in between ab wheel sets, 60 seconds between the other stuff; took a shade over 2 hours for the whole thing including warmup.

Probably squatting on Tuesday after 10x3, then I'll decide if I want to add another five pounds and do week 4 of smolov. Probably will, then do a deload week and test my max afterwards. Hopefully it's not terrible.

jdock,

Hinkie's definitely just trying to accrue lottery tickets, since he realizes that you need to have a top five caliber player to routinely compete for titles and/or have insane depth a la the Spurs, who still had all time players. To say he's doing that without ownership buyin or to secure his job for seven years is quite literally Bayless-esque ******ism.
