Plus make two veggies with dinner instead of just one; much easier to cut the rice or potatoes down to half a cup when there's squash and spinach, or whatever. The summer is nice, because I can just have an ear or two of corn for starch and not bother with any other carb source at all, but the wifeacore is half irish, so the potato makes a fair number of appearances in our dinners, especially in the winter. Much easier to not eat too much of it if it's just not there.
I think the minis might be mutants; gave them dessert of a little bit of triple chocolate brownies and raspberries, and they housed the raspberries, asked for more, all the while not eating the brownie. Not huge fans of some veggies yet, but they eat all the fruit.
