Why are you making those numbers bold if they aren't a PR? I thought your squat was a PR as well and no not only because it was bolded. I thought u were stuck at 245 for a while.

Pretty sure he bolds his work sets for the big lifts.

Pretty sure I've been using that format for months, too; weird that you just noticed it, my orange friend.

This was my understanding as well.

If I could do it, I would make his face orange but I'm at work so this will have to do.

3/14

OHP
10x45, 7x75, 5x95, 3x115, 1x135
2x5x150, 3x150

Squat
10x45, 5x95, 5x135, 3x175, 2x205
2x5x230, 8x230

Dips
3x10x+50

DB Row
3x16x70

DB Hammer Curl
2x10x40

Still feeling kind of sluggish from jet lag, but since I'm off from work today there was really no excuse not to go. OHP was very tough; getting all 15 reps would have tied a PR set when I was fat, but it was a no go. The first set was really grindy, and the fifth rep of the second set was undoubtedly the most epic grind of my life (over 5 seconds from the top of my head to lockout), so not too surprising that I was only able to get 3 reps in the last set. I'll get it Wednesday.

Squats were fine, probably could have gotten 10 reps, but I was still a little tight from cramming myself in a plane for so long, so I decided discretion was the better part of valor. Pretty sure the dips are a PR for 3x10 but who cares; added some reps and dropped the weight on the DB rows for a change -- felt good.

Getting right back into the lifting. Nice job.

Anything interesting happen in Japan?

Did you eat any good/great/weird food?

aura,

No time to do anything interesting; got sushi for dinner twice, but that was about it -- it was obviously quite good.

EV,

It might be time, I'll try and get some squat and DL videos up next week.

Nice work, monte! When I was in tokyo my head hit the ceiling in the shower and I'm only 6'1. I cant imagine how you fit

Thanks, ook.

My hotel was actually decent; the showerhead was one of those detachable handle things, but it was probably 6 ft off the ground, so I could lean forward and get under it if I needed to. I was expecting to be too big for most of the stuff there, but it really wasn't the case.

3/15

Chin Ladder (7 out of 12 reps in last set) = 73 in first ladder
LISS: 45 min at 4.3 = 3.21 miles, 5 min at 2.6 = .22 miles
Chin Ladder (9 out of 11 reps in last set) = 64 in second ladder, 137 total (-1)
6x30 pushups

Lost a rep on chins, but given the time off, jet lag, and drinking and eating more than usual last night, not so bad. Lower body is more sore than normal from yesterday, but no biggie. Going to try to summon the WIM to keep it reasonable food-wise tonight and tomorrow.

Weight this morning: 194.6. Very not bad.

3/17

Bench
10x45, 10x95, 5x135, 3x175, 2x205
2x5x230, 8x230

Squat
10x45, 5x95, 5x135, 3x175, 2x200
2x5x235, 7x235

Facepulls
4x15x35

Pendlays
3x6x145

EZ Curl
10x82.5, 9x82.5

Cable Row (Narrow)
3x15x95

Skullcrushers
3x11x97.5

Weighed the EZ curl bar and it was 17.5 lbs, so I was pleased to find out that I was shortchanging myself by 2.5 lbs in the past.

Probably left a rep in the tank on squat and maaaybe bench, just didn't really have the WIM today for whatever reason. My hope is that I can get to 8x240 in my AMRAP bench set for that weight, but it's going to take some work it seems.

193.6 this morning -- fading away to nothing imo.

3/18

Chin Ladder (10 out of 12 reps in last set) = 76 in first ladder
LISS: 45 min at ~4.35 = 3.26 miles
Chin Ladder (10 out of 11 reps in last set) = 65 in second ladder, 141 total (+3 PR)
6x30 pushups

So close to completing the 11 set on the second ladder, but 10 was a pretty long grind, so there was no way I was getting 11. Once I complete either the 12 set on the first ladder or the 11 set on the second ladder, I'll be close to or at 150 total, which would be pretty cool.

Wow! Weight loss is coming along fine, and your strength is returning at a nice pace. WIM

Any desire to at some point see where your maxes are?

Not really, seems kind of counterproductive at this point considering I'm kind of cutting back on calories.

I'm probably going to have to reset on squat relatively soon, since the sets are getting pretty difficult already (unfortunately) and I'm starting to squat morning some of the reps because of the switch to LBBS. Hopefully I can keep 3x3ing my DL up for a while.

Bench is whatever, 1RM calculator is putting it anywhere between 290 and 300, and in reality it's probably a bit less than that, but in order to get it up to something respectable I'd have to do a fair bit more heavy singles, which isn't really in the programming at this point.
Monte's Log, Featuring a Debate About Dotard Genetic Potential with an Ant Quote

Bench 1RM calculators have never been remotely close for me. Last two week calculated 1RMs are like 270-280 and I think on a great day I can do 255.
Monte's Log, Featuring a Debate About Dotard Genetic Potential with an Ant Quote

They've been pretty accurate for me, provided I've been training relatively heavy, which I haven't been. It's more of a proxy for progress than anything at this point; if I decided to do something TM-centric for upper body I may start doing some heavy doubles and triples relatively soon, but regardless I feel pretty comfortable that I could put up 275 relatively comfortably right now, with 300 being relatively possible within a few months of doing heavy work.

I don't feel any great desire to do that right now, though.

He's pulling a loco, spewing out numbers and no proof of video. However, I do believe him because 225x10 is better than my peak bench which I did 280x1.

Lol EV, what are you even talking about here? I'm quite familiar with how estimated one rep maxes relate to my actual performance, as my post showed, and I've benched 310 not to long ago. Far from locotarding imo.

When did u bench 310? Pls provide the link so I can see.
Monte's Log, Featuring a Debate About Dotard Genetic Potential with an Ant Quote

No link, believe me or don't, I don't give a ****; I've worked up past 300 at least 4 times in my lifting career that I can remember, which isn't impressive when you consider I benched 3x/week in all but one of those situations. I put up 330 when I was younger and fatter and you were mistaken for the ball in your 12 and under basketball league, and I don't have any video of that either. Your lack of approval will continue to haunt me.
