How are your motivation levels for rowing after the break?
Monte's Log, Featuring a Debate About Dotard Genetic Potential with an Ant Quote

Pretty low, but my motivation in general is pretty low right now, so hard to judge too much. I'm traveling again for work a fair bit this summer, so maybe having to work harder to get it in will rekindle things a bit.

Happy belated birthday, montebro!

Good luck with the rekindling.

How about them sixers! Nets/Sixers is gonna be lit.

Thanks, Melk, but I'm not counting this series yet.

Worked a shitload Thursday/Friday to complete a work project, so Friday ended up being completely off; planned to do a loading day Saturday, but got 25' in and didn't feel great, so I just called it unloading and postponed a day.

HR is obviously high, but I'm still drinking a ton of booze so I'm not that concerned about this indicating anything other than a lack of self control (not that that's not important). This was one of the first recent sessions where I actually felt good for the entire piece, and I could have gone longer, so I'll take it.

On the road for work through Tuesday, so I'll see what I can squeeze in.

Someone may need to do a wellness check on Monte after that Sixers collapse. That was brutal.

I still like the sixers though. I'll be hedging my Hawks in 6. Those guys are fraudulent AF.

I'm ok Melk; having a coach that's a total idiot is strangely freeing. With that said, feel free to emotionally hedge elsewhere.

LD55 (UT2) - 45'
10772m/2:05.4/16.0 spm/170 HR/182 MHR

Did this after work and forgot to log; HR is worse than it looks because most of my warmup was a 30 minute walk home in decent heat.

They're all idiots. Well not all, but most.

I'm financially hedged now, so I'm in a state of total zen.

Legit would prefer the sixers to pull this out, as they seem to be the better team, but I'm not that invested. Once the Lakers go down, I've got almost no emotions wrt NBA. I don't bet that big.

Good to see that the re-kindling is in progress. How are you liking the RFESS? I'm think of adding into the mix myself. If you substituted it for barbell squats entirely, how much worse off do you think you would be?

Also, congrats on the sixers win. Your boys really keep it interesting. I've got Philly ML in game 7.

Philly shipping the whole thing seems in reach. Despite the fact they were a #1 seed, I really didn't think they would even get out of the East. But their path could well be hobbled Nets and then Kawhi-less Clippers.

Good luck with game 7.

Lifted and then came home and rowed; no real noticeable effect, so this is definitely doable on weekends or days I work from home. Supersetted everything, so lifting only took about 50 minutes.

Got the next month's programming, so I'll take tomorrow off then start up on Monday; going to try MWF for loading days and do lifting/unloading days TThSat, with Sundays off.

As with everything, it depends on your goals; I've never used the RFESS as a primary movement in the same way I did with the squat, so it's hard to say. Seems like it would be hard to load in the same way, but depending on back issues maybe lessening your total time under significant axial load is desirable? Outside of my odd SI issues over the years, I haven't had anything significant, but a) I'm older now and b) the back squat isn't super specific to rowing, so I'll give this a whirl.

I'm staying pessimistic to protect my feels.

Not even considering this, plus I think it's apparent they have real flaws that will continue to be exposed if they move on, even if they happen to pull it out tomorrow - even taking into account the injury issues for most other teams.

I can relate. I might be the most pessimistic sports fan there is. In your shoes, I'd just be fixated on how we're gonna blow game 7 (sounds like you're in a similar place mentally).

For me, the number one motivator is that squats are getting too tough. Not that much physically (since I'm not actually progressing) but mostly mentally.

I recently took Evoken's advice and dropped the weight a lot and just did more volume. It's a huge game changer. I still don't look forward to squat day, but I don't go into it with the same dread.

I think RFESS might be the next step in the progression. Getting strong is not really in my future plans mostly due to the olds, but I figure these kinds of things will help me stave off total atrophy.

I'm a bit salty about losing a bet due to Huerter running like the sun, but no doubt it's worse for you. FWIW, you've got my condolences. Fortunately you had the foresight to have the emotional defense mechanisms in place.

Melk,

Yes, it really blew ass, even with the emotional hedging. I'd guess Simmons is traded now.

Yeah, this seems to be the conventional wisdom, but I think it is a mistake. His value is as low as it's gonna get, so selling now seems bad. Despite the fact that he can't shoot, he does bring a lot to the table. I'd favor just working on the shooting and trying to improve it (I hear lolDoc has a plan for this. I'd feel a lot better if he had nothing to do with it). Most think that he is unfixable and that attempting to fix his shot is laughable, so I'm sure my opinion is the minority one.

He doesn't even have to improve that much from the field, imo. If he just gets his FTs in a respectable range, that will help a ton. And maybe he won't be scared to shoot when he is standing right next to the basket and might get fouled.

Lifted after work then rowed after the minis' soccer game; 4 goals for one and 1 for the other - on to the semis.

Melk,

I read a story that they had a plan to deal with it in 2018, but that Rich Paul nixed it and had him train with some scrub instead. Worked out swimmingly. Maybe this is rock bottom and he'll finally decide to take shooting seriously.

You know who to blame? Your GM. Should have traded his ass for Harden. = NBA championship. Many of them.

He got greedy. Harden was worth giving up simmons and a couple of first rounders.
