Had to take the evening off from 2p2 due to the SICK BURNS received from MLY last night; hopefully COACH FAKE BUSTO has the appropriate words of wisdom to help me recover before tomorrow's DL session.

Please don't be discouraged. Men your age just have to accept that the comfortable dad bod tightly whities and mid calf white socks are just not sexy, and suck it up and switch to the sexy tight boxers and ankle socks.

I'm watching your squat videos and learning. Your squats are better than most of the instructional vids I've seen on YouTube. You should probably make one of those.

MLY,

As someone that was essentially trained by my peers from birth that my face and personality were some of the most effective vaginal desiccants known to womankind, considering the potential effects my wardrobe choices may have on the bean flicking tendencies of the surrounding female population is never really on my radar. Re: socks, as I typically deadlift twice a week, longer socks are kind of a functional necessity regardless.

The squat dap is appreciated, but all praise should go to the usual stalwarts: Aidan, Weasel, BPA, and, of course, COACH FAKE BUSTO. I am but a vessel through which their advice produces marginally impressive results after seven short years of complaining about leverages and other such things.

I like the socks and it makes your legs appear tanner than they are

My wife said something to me recently about me wearing socks like that. They are functional as I also use them with my winter boots and steel toe boots (both are about mid-calf high), which I like having a higher pair of socks to wear in them. No need to have multiple length socks IMO.

fakeb,

That's just your male privilege showing, and even without considering the fact that this is International Women's Day, that's a disgusting and problematic take.

fakeb,

I'm not a piece of meat.

3/9: 195.0

Early morning workout because I have a training class this morning and then fly to Antwerp at 2.

C2W4D2

A
DL (x5 @9, drop 5%, continue until @9): wu, 385x1 (8.5), 310x5, 330x5, 350x5 (8-8.5), 330x5

B
OHP (x3 @8, continue until @9): wu, 155x1 (8.5), 125x3, 135x3, 145x3x4
Facepulls: 6x12

C
Paused squat (x3 @9, drop 5%, continue until @9): wu, 250x3, 270x3, 290x3 (8), 270x3

DL felt heavy-ish because lol morning sessions, but w/e. Form wasn't optimal - felt and looked like I lost tightness on my last rep or two at 350, so I'll have to keep an eye on that. Press was fine. Concentrated on curbing the CB bounce at the bottom of paused squats and was pretty successful.

Next real lifting session will be next Thursday probably. May get a light hotel session or two in on the road. Road beers, here I come.

Paused squats, in case anyone cares. Sorry for the clit-onite socks.

Yeah, deadlifting in ankle high socks is suboptimal. For DL, I actually would wear my long soccer socks.

I guess in Monte's case, looks like he's got sleeves pulled down over his shins, so pretty much any socks would be fine if you're gonna do that.

Of course with results like these I'm sure the wifeacore doesn't give a **** about the sexiness of Monte's wardrobe selection or the lack thereof.

Melk,

You'd think, but with just sleeves I still get irritation/potentially small scrapes on my delicate skin, so long socks are pretty essential. I normally wear DL socks in addition to my sleeves, but I only have two pairs and neither were clean, so I made do with the ol' standards.

Came back from Antwerp CB fat after much Cantillon and frites, but diuresed off a bunch of fakeLBM in the last 36 hours after offering some 135 lb Jefferson DLs at the altar of PapaLoco. Praise be to biofeedback.

C2W4D3

A
Squat (x5 @8, continue until @9): wu, 325x1 (8), 255x5, 275x5, 290x5x4 (lsRPE 8.5-9)

B
SS bench (x4 @9, drop 5%, continue until @9): wu, 275x1 (7.5-8), 235x4, 245x4, 255x4, 265x4 (9.5), 255x4

Squat felt a bit off, considering 285x6x4 was pretty smooth a few weeks back; that said, it wasn't ultimately all that surprising given I had a week off between sessions. Seems like 295x5x4 may have been there without the break, but que sera. Going to Budapest with the wife next week in advance of a work trip to Austria, so there'll be another break in there.

SS bench felt strong, though; 265x4 ties a PR. Didn't have time for deficit deads so I'll try to get them in later today.

C2W4D3 Evening

C
Deficit Deadlift (x5 @9, drop 5%, continue until @9): wu, 355x1 (7.5-8), 275x5, 295x5, 315x5, 325x5 (8.5), 305x4

Worked up to an overwarmup since I had a break in the middle of the day; 355 felt pretty smooth. Might have had 335x5 for my top set, but given the layoff I didn't want to push it. I think I'm doing a decent job of getting down to the bar/staying tight?

Go on a trip (nice!), take a week off from lifting, and barely lose any strength? That living the high life.

FWIW, your deficit DLs look fine/tight. Maybe you lose a bit of tightness on the last rep at the bottom, but doesn’t look like that big of a deal.

jd,

Thanks for the jinx!

3/18: 198.2

Little fatigued/ DOMSy. Decided to skip D4 this week to get more quality work in before I leave again. Ideally would have two full off days between D3 and D1, but doing it a day early gets me four sessions instead of three.

C2W5D1

A
Squat (x4 @9, drop 5%, continue until @9): wu, 325x1 (8.5-9), 285x4, 295x4, 305x2 (8.5-9), 275x4

B
Paused bench (x4 @9, drop 5%, continue until @9): wu, 245x1 (8.5), 205x4, 215x4, 225x4 (9), 215x4
Hammer Strength Row: 4x108

C
3 count bench (x3 @9, drop 5%, continue until @9): wu, 175x3, 185x3, 195x3, 205x3, 215x3 (9), 205x3
Facepulls: 8x12

Fatigued pretty quickly in squats, as you can see; didn't see the point of grinding out the third rep at 305 when I still wouldn't have completed my target.

Bench went alright; had this been a normal week, 235x4 would have been the goal, but similarly it wasn't there so I didn't push it. 3 count was solid, though. Deadlifts Tuesday, then D3 Thursday before my flight.

DT,

Hopefully you're prepared to re-unsubscribe, because I had three beers, of which two were Cantillon. That's all I remember.

DL (x4 @9, drop 5%, continue until @9): wu, 355x1 (7), 385x0 (lol), 315x4, 335x4, 355x4 (9), 335x4

B
CGBP (x5 @9, drop 5%, continue until @9): wu, 245x1 (8), 195x5, 205x5, 215x5, 225x5 (9), 215x5
Facepulls: 2x12

Had negative WIM today; nanny called out, so I have the boys. Worked out a bit earlier than usual due to that + work commitments, and just didn't have it. Maybe could have ground out the 385 single, but it felt like a house. Got four reps at 355 @9 vs four at 365 @8 4 weeks ago, but even that feels like a victory.

Conversely, close grip was a post fatMonte 5 rep PR, although mostly because I do 5 rep CGBP once per cycle. Whatever, it counts, to the extent non 1RM PRs count, which is barely at all.

Even if I'd have had time to squat, not sure I'd have had much in the tank. Meh.
