I got hit in the feels by a Cineplex Odeon Father's Day promotion/commercial with my boys at the movies yesterday. Crotch fruit is okay at times.
Enjoy the getaway!

Pretty cool you were able to find a real gym while on vacation. My wife gives me all sorts of **** when I try to do that.

Question: are the sets you do under each a letter supersets? It looks like it based on the exercises working antagonist muscles.

Thanks, bros. #DADFEELS

Re: lifting on vacation, it's a fair bit easier to sell since I'm going early in the morning and still have adequate time to Dad afterwards.

jd2b,

Each letter is a superset, yes.

Thanks, Weasel. It means a lot.

6/20: ???

A
5/3/1 Squat (TM 265): wu, 3x185, 3x215, 1x240, 2x260, 2x280 (8.5), 9x240 (8.5), 9x225, 9x200

B
SSPT DL (Week 8, assistance): 3x3x225

C
DB RFESS: 4x8x45
Bayesian Curls: 4x12

Got a pretty bad sunburn across my neck/shoulders yesterday (I guess you really do need to reapply), so squatting was really painful. Other then trying to find a part of my back where I could tolerate the pain, no issues. Sometimes you have to make yourself pay the stupidity tax, although it made judging RPE while under the bar a bit more difficult.

SSPT twice/week template called for an off day today, but I wanted a little volume so I did some light triples. Felt and looked K. Other stuff fine.

Sunscreen actually is one of those things were you need a ton and need to use it early and often. Best of luck avoiding cancer.

Yeah I usually apply liberally and just forgot to reapply this time. Lesson re-learned, albeit painfully.

6/22: ???

A
Incline bench (5/3/1): wu, 145x3, 165x3, 185x1, 200x2, 185x5 (9), 175x6 (9), 155x8
DB Row: 6x10x100
One Arm Cable Row: 6x12

B
DB Bench: 4x7x100
Machine Rear Fly: 6x12

C
Seated DB Press: 4x9x55
Incline DB Flyes: 3x12x20

Back still slightly tender from the burn. Incline was not great; got one less rep on the AMRAPs than I'd hoped across the board, and the 200 double was hard enough that 215x2 for sure wasn't there. Everything else was ok-ish.

NBA Draft tonight!

6/23: ???

A
SSPT DL Week 9 (92.5%, ~120s rest): wu, 4x1x295, 2x275, 2x3x225

B
Squat (light, recovery): wu, 3x5x210
Facepull (seated, light): 8x15
Zottman Curls: 4x12

Titrated up the DL TM because I've been feeling good lately (technically this was supposed to be 285x4 based on where I started), and everything was fine. Added a 275 double for funsies and it was fast. Can't get my back quite as tight on the heavy pulls as the lighter ones, but it still starts flat and stays flat, so I'm just trying to help training my brain to be less of a pussy.

Squats tight and easy. Everything else fine.

Birthday party for the boys today, which they'll be excited about; officially it's not until Monday, but we're here with their cousins so YOLO.

I'm confused about your deadlift notation. Are you just not putting a x1 between your sets and weight on your working sets?

Yes, for some reason that migrated out of my response template and I never noticed it until now. Fixed on this last one.

6/25: ???

Had some wine and a bunch of dessert last night. Felt sluggish this morning and it showed.

A
OHP (5/3/1): wu, 5x115, 3x130, 1x150, 1x165, fx180, fx175, 5x150 (9.5), 6x140, 9x125
NG chins: wu, 5x+25, 5x+35, 5x+40, 5x+45, 5x+40, 5x+35

B
DB Incline Bench: 5x8x75
DB Pullover: 4x10x85

C
Dips: wu, 8x+25, 8x+35, 8x+45, 8x+55 8x+60
Facepulls: 8x15
DB Hammer: 4x10x45

Meh. Neither 180 nor 175 was all that close; just didn't have the WIM today. Toughed through everything else well enough, though, I guess. Left shoulder/arm slightly sore/weirdly mobile as usual; maybe it's slowly improving? I'll just lift more and see what happens.

Going home today. Vacation was nice.

I feel like I made that harder than it had to be, but I was pretty happy to get it (and not pass out on the way up). The AMRAP work set went pretty well; as usual, I'm leaving 1-2 sets in the tank, and it seems to be working out well, with no SI soreness during or afterwards.

Leaving early tomorrow for CT and back late Thursday; planning to try to lift one day on the road and save deadlifting for after I get home on Friday so I have some time to recover.

The minis turn five today -- pretty unreal. We had a party with their cousins down at the beach, so just dinner and presents with the four of us tonight. Looking forward to it.

250 set was more of a cardio issue than strength. Later reps were fast and strong but it looked like you were struggling to breathe. Easy 10RM. Nice work. WIM
