Got up and went for a walk this morning. I'm trying to get my energy levels up...it helped.

Being off work I usually get straight out of bed and go to the couch to check my emails, I watch tv for a bit/ play with my daughter, read FB/articles/2+2,then go take a nap, get up and look for jobs, clean house, and then watch tv again till bedtime.

Im going to try to cut out the naps and replace them with walks and replace tv with reading. Reading helps me mentally-I'm just happier when I get into a good book. I'm also going to focus on bringing my daughter to the park everyday; she can play and I can walk.

This week I'm going to focus on changing the napping/tv pattern. I'm going to go swim laps at least two days this week and play volleyball on Thursday.

My favorite meal. Made a plate for lunch and dinner.

I'm thinking of making a squash lasagna tonight with ground turkey meat.

Gotta imagine even a squash/turkey lasagna is gonna be a calorie monster. Mostly having to do with all the pasta and cheese. I've been dieting for about four months now and I eat basically what I want, but I try to avoid pasta and pizza cause those are so dense with calories. By all means, eat things you like since diet adherence is key, I just wanted to put in my perspective.

I plan on replacing the pasta with squash. The only fattening thing will be the cheese.
07-04-2016 , 04:44 PM
Oh word. Carry on then.

squash lasagna....turned out way too cheesy with the ricotta. It's been a long time since I've made lasagna, and didn't make enough sauce.

Add up the calories of that entire dish. If you post the recipe I'll do it-I think there might be a wake-up call re: calorie counting after lasagnacoma. Maybe I'm way off base but I have a hard time believing that's a weight loss meal.

I'm also curious about the calories in that thing and agree with Draw. What did it come out to MLYLT?
07-05-2016 , 09:25 AM
For stuff like that where I make a big batch of something I generally count all the ingredients and divide the batch into equal parts for serving and counting. Maybe captain obvious.
07-05-2016 , 09:52 AM
I'll add up the cals and decide per serving.

Calories for the turkey seem way off, no? Unless it's some weird processed thing.

Also I wish that was 8 servings for me.

48oz of cheese

I'm really not a fan of this mentality. She should eat what she likes and control the quantity. Granted, it can be harder to control the quantity of things like lasagna but diet adherence is the 1# goal. Eating "weight loss meals" exclusively is a great way to burn out.

Guys,

If you take a normal lasagna and just replace pasta with squash. I mean it is apparent that squash lasagna will have a little bit less calories. In this sense it is definitely better choice. If it is a perfect choice, that is another theme. But then who does eat always perfect. Definitely not me.

Go MLYLT! Go!

I understand the gradual approach is the way to go for most people. That approach has never worked for me, and I think it would be useful for MLYLT to take a couple drastic steps. But cmon, look at that picture. Cutting that isn't drastic.

I see it like this: to lose weight you get the ball rolling down the hill. You say push slow and steady at first to lock in healthy habits, I say wtf are you waiting for push the damn ball. With either approach that ball is slowing waaayyyyyy down struggling to make it over a 4k calorie lasagna.
