El D,
I understand where you are coming from and see how doing this would be beneficial in normal circumstances. But, my boss works very erratic and worries way too much what people think about her. As soon as someone ask something from her she drops everything to do it.....she expects me to drop everything to do it. It becomes a constant cycle of jumping around to different task and never completing anything and is so inefficient and unproductive.
I make a long term schedule that incorporates a daily schedule with contingency built in to "fight fires" or suddenly having to travel. In this particular instance, I did not have enough contingency time built in to my long term schedule to make up for being out for two full unplanned weeks.
Everything is prioritized and I keep an emailing schedule as well. No email goes more than 4hrs without a response. If the task will to answer someone takes more than a few mins it goes on my next day schedule based on priority.
Just bouncing around and jumping to every task that my boss wants immediately is idiotic and inefficient. Her trying to micromanage when she is completely unorganized is idiotic. Was in her office yesterday for a min and saw that her email had 895 unread emails!
I have tried to be more flexible with her and have explained that just leave me the **** alone between these times, or email me the day before and I will work what she needs in and give her a completion time/date.
And, she was well aware of my plans and schedule. I went over it with her twice so she would leave me alone and let me work. But, her not working by any type of schedule or pattern it just doesn't click with her and she probably isnt even listening to me.
