New England school marm here to recommend you be careful with sprinting until you get used to running again. Sprinting is a fairly easy injury early on. In order of marmiest recommendations:
1) Wait until you've been running 2-3x per week for 3 months to do any sprinting.
2) Sprint exclusively uphill.
3) Sprint only 20 yards so you can stay bent over with your head down.
4) Spend 10 minutes on your warmup including the various kick and highstep drills and running sideways/backwards crap plus some ~80% effort sprints.
And for the love of god, no scissors!
I mean, I get it; sprinting is awesome. Injury sucks, though. You can get a similar buzz by sprinting as part of your swim.
