how do you measure the calories in half a chicken breast?
08-18-2016 , 12:40 PM
Mlylt,

Do you have any idea how accurate your measuring spoons/cups are?

(No need to actually answer that.)

I look The weight on the package and divide that by 4 to get 1/4 of two chicken breast, then I google the calories in 1lb of chicken breast and figure it from there.

The first one is only 32.5% off! If you're averaging 1500kcals a day that would only be an extra 487.5kcals per day!

According to McD a double cheeseburger is 430. Did you get a soda or fries?

Let me know if you find out where a person can get one!
08-18-2016 , 07:55 PM
RB,

MLYLT did figure out where a person can get one (thanks to this thread), but she opted against it.

Can just imagine MLYLT in mcdonalds putting her fries on her shiny new food scale

MLYLT,

I am a supporter of yours and likewise a supporter of anyone on here willing to change there lifestyle for the better.

Likewise being a fatty myself I also understand how difficult it can be...but in my opinion you seem to think because you are eating healthier with better food you will lose weight, regardless of the quantity involved.

For some reason you seem to be putting off weighing your food. Given that everyone in here as tried to tell you to do so (to help you) you still haven't done so.

To me this means that you aren't really committed..I say this because it is a commitment. The biggest danger I see is that after thus competition you have with 2/7 you just pile on the pounds again.

I may be in a minority but I think the best thing you could do is to pay off the bet, reduce whatever drama you have in your life and concentrate on changing your lifestyle.

We (those of us that are extremely overweight) should learn the lessons of ytf and the importance of listening to those that want to help you and that long term gains require effort and changing behaviour.

I can't fault you for the former, but I think you need to work on the latter.

I'm not a hater....I want you to do well...and will continue to root for you.

Thank you wildebeest.
I'm purchasing a scale after i move into my new place this weekend, but I won't be buying out of the bet. Nothing gets me more motivated than competition!

I'm working on the drama in my life. Just a couple of months ago I was suicidal and hospitalized. In February I went to a hotel with the intent on slitting my wrist and sat in a bathtub contemplating it for a couple of days. I have since gotten on medicine and the suicidal thoughts are gone. I'm still dealing with the depression, but I think that is getting better with time and will be much better once I'm away from my ex boyfriend, around family, and working again.

Thank you and everyone else for y'all's support. Im determined to be healthier both mentally and physically. I want to turn my life around so bad.

Good luck on everything MLYTL....

I can't comment on depression as I have no idea what that even feels like...

On the food thing though I think you recognise that what you have been doing isn't optimum to achieving your goals.

Likewise I think you know that too, and you need to own up to it.

On the competition side...If it keeps you motivated great. My fear is that it's a bit of a side show.

Regardless I'll still be rooting for you!

My plan:

-cut out all sodas; even diet.
-eat only 1400 cals/day
-cut out all fast food
-exercise 3days/week and walk every night.

It's on 27!!!

You are failing at each step of your plan. There are reasons why you haven't lost weight. They are right here.

Stop wasting your mental energy worrying about a failed/miserable/toxic relationship and start thinking about the future. 1 meal, 1 glass of water, 1 loop walking around the block, 1 job interview at a time.

Someone around here (aura?) actually took a food scale to an AYCE sushi place. I'm all for adherence, but I think that's a bit much.

I have no real insight or contribution, but I wanted to show MLYLT some , so here it is:

Keep on keepin' on.

Tues log:

Chicken quesadilla: 528

Chips+salsa: 670

Total: 1198

Not idea, but I didn't make it to the store today to cook more chicken and veggie meals. Not having a fridge sucks. At least I was low in calories.
08-23-2016 , 10:21 PM
yikes couldnt even do 1 day on my program, all hope is lost
08-23-2016 , 11:19 PM
I'm going to the store tomorrow. Today was crazy busy. Someone came into my house last night; I had to talk with the cops for a while and get the locks changed on my house. Also spent 2hrs waiting in ****ing line to drop off/pick up my child from school, meeting with HR for my new job, trying to get internet/cable hooked up, trying to find a fridge and so on.
08-24-2016 , 12:16 AM
The place you got the quesadilla surely had a pollo asada plate or the like you could have had.
And cable may be a bad idea if you really want to exercise and focus on getting your act together (personal relationships), not to mention better for your daughter.
08-24-2016 , 01:14 AM
Pollo asada plate sounds gross. Why go to a Mexican restaurant if you're not gonna eat tasty food? The quesadilla was fine (though most likely closer to 800 calories). The 600 calorie chips and salsa are an abomination, and I can't imagine it was all that healthy for MLYLT's psyche to eat only that meal in a day. She must have been hungry.
