In regards to the sugar; I've noticed that I lose less weight per week when I'm drinking diet sodas/Coke Zero than when I'm only having water. I think I need to cut the diet sodas as well.[/QUO

The body responds to diet soda as if it were real sugar so you will gain weight with diet soda. if you can't take having no sugar for a while and you feel like your going to crack and go on a sugar binge then take a diet soda but I try not to take no more than 1 per week. the artificial sugar can contribute to cancer so it shouldn't be consumed in large quantities.

A diet soda will always lead to insulin spike and increase your craving for sugar.

Water, Teas?, Doing your lemonade yourself? I mean you can do really cool lemonade for about 100 ckal a liter with real sugar and fruits.

Yogurt: 100

6 pizza rolls: 220

2 eggs: 182

4xbacon: 172

Mozzarella: 80

1/4: chicken breast: 63

Popsicle: 105

Yogurt: 100

Total: 702

I haven't felt hungry at all today; I had to force myself to eat the chicken.....I wish this could last forever.

My mood has been really great this week. I actually read and finished a book yesterday and today! This is the first time in months I've felt enjoyment from reading. For a while absolutely nothing aside from sex was enjoyable. I'm hoping this is the first sign of coming out of my depression.

Over here, 4 "bacon" (I'm assuming strips of bacon?) would be almost double that number. What's a "bacon" over there?

MLYLT shows remarkable restraint at the constant quibbling over her calorie counts. Bacon calories are gonna vary widely based on how long/thick the slice is, how well it's cooked, and whether it's allowed to drain on a napkin before serving. Most Americans take their bacon well done so the google-powered 43 calorie figure probably is not that far off.

Yeah it's only double that if you have it on a bread, obviously.

4 strips of 2" bacon, well done, placed on paper towels before consumed.

I'm convinced that diet sodas are causing me to retain water or something. I have had no weight loss all week, and I've been drinking Coke Zero all week. I'm going to switch to water and see if I see any progress this week.

Loln00b questions:

How precise is whatever calculation you used to determine your max, maintenance only, calories?

Reading this thread (Great job, btw) it seems like weeks that include 1800-2000 cal days, with the rest in your goal range have yielded disappointing results. Is it possible that the number is lower than you think?

Slight Tangent Question:
Spoiler:
Also, if posters itt do think it is precise, and another issue is at work, could some kind person point me in the direction of where/what search terms I'd use to learn more about how you establish a maintenance intake? I've been on a 10-15lb yo-yo forever, and that seems unhealthy. I wanted to give strict diet a try to maintain my current weight and see how I feel in a few months. Not sure where to start.

GL MLYLT! I'm rooting for you.

Kristy,

That number will always be imprecise from any generic calculator.

For what you want to do, use a calculator and stay at that number for your average daily cals. If you're losing weight after staying there for a while, your maintenance number is higher. If you're gaining weight, lower.

MLYLT,

How did you determine you're eating 80 calories worth of mozzarella?

MAYBE THERE'S A REASON YOU'RE FULL ON '702' CALORIES

I just think we need to assume accuracy on her part, even if it may not actually be there. She gets out of this log what she puts in. Obviously, if there's something she lists that's clearly off then someone should correct her, but the constant snide scrutiny seems irritating and demotivating.

It's her call whether she wants to meticulously weigh or food or eyeball instead. People work differently.

As for that 700 calorie day, it seems completely plausible that she had about that many calories, and we should be busting her balls for eating too little, not too much.
08-10-2016 , 04:18 PM
She has expressed dissatisfaction at times with the rate at which she's losing. Calorie-counting inefficiencies have potential to add up to a significant leak that isn't terribly difficult to fix. I really don't think that people are being snide when they ask these questions.

That said, I think her bacon number is totally plausible.

It's 80cal per 1/4 cup, so I measured out 1/4 cup.

Everyone keeps saying I must be counting wrong, but no one is pointing out specifically what might be counted wrong.

There is no such thing for super fats.

If she makes a habit of 700 a day, she may get burned out on dieting and quit, or feel a greater temptation toward binge eating.

It would help if you listed quantity.
