I gotta agree with this, MLYLT. Your heart and effort might be in the right place, and "delusional" is a bit harsh, but when pretty much your entire weight loss plan is calorie counting, you HAVE to be accurate. The people who have tried "calories in < calories out" and swear it fails are the ones who didn't count accurately.

What are you using to determine calories? If it's not MyFitnessPal, why isn't it? Just looking at your list above, your counting seems questionable. What the hell are you putting on those turkey burgers to get to 766 calories? Should be 500 calories MAX, and that's probably high. If you had a bun, tell us, and then stop eating buns. Even if you're not going to go full low-carb, bread is just a bad idea when you're trying to lose weight like you are.

And 200 calories for 2 servings of yogurt? Granted, there is a chance you had the ONE type of branded yogurt that comes in around 100 calories, but really?

And I'm just gonna keep saying it, as annoying as it is: why keep punishing yourself with turkey burgers and healthy choice spaghetti when you can win this bet easily eating steak, bacon, chicken thighs, cheese, ranch dressing, sausage, etc.?

WHY? I mean the guy is at least not nice to you, he doesn't love you, doesn't treat you well. Why would you want to be with someone like that for the rest of your life? I mean until you are some kind of masochistic.

Based solely on your posts: You have a bunch of problems, but who has none. You have good sense of humor and are in some way pretty cool. I think you totally deserve a guy, who is madly in love with you, and it is good that code is disappearing and making place for the right guy.

Thanks lapka, I know the right guy will come along. I was just so madly in love with Code 3, I delusional about what a great guy he was.

Why would you think being overweight is being skinny?

since my diet's consisted of 75-90% lean meat and veggies I've noticed a curious reaction my body has to 'carb' food. it doesn't want them inside of it.

I'll eat a very small piece of dense cake as a treat, or take 10 minutes eating a single piece of (real) whole wheat break with jam, but much more than that my body kind of rejects. the feeling is similar to when I'd eat 2200 calories at Wendy's as opposed to the usual 1500 or w/e. this new feeling is almost worse because rather than "nooo I can't take that much at once" it's "cmon man you know better".

and MLYT you're bad as **** in those pictures; if looking at the real you from the past doesn't kick your ass into gear I dunno if anything will.

MLYLT,

When responding to lapka and bdiddy, it seems you accidentally missed the very thoughtful posts from DN and HP!

thanks Fabian, although the 175 pics satisfied me

I'm using Google for my calorie counting.

The turkey burgers were:
193 cals meat
80cals low fat cheese
110cals bun

The yogurt comes in 100 cal containers; it's a fruit+yogurt+granola mix

I don't think I'm punishing myself; I like all of the healthy choice pastas and steam bowls and turkey burgers.

Thanks! This is my goal. I hope to really ramp up my exercise when I lose another 20-30lbs.

I have also noticed that my body now rejects fast food; it just seems so greasy and disgusting now. I can't even believe I used to eat fast food for every meal and was literally addicted to it!

Fabian,
I really appreciate everyone's thoughtful post, especially yours. I am truly not trying to ignore anyone; I am reading and internalizing every single post. Thank you so much for helping and supporting me on this journey.

there's really no long-term limit to what your body can do. it's great you don't have the attitude that you were born a 'fat person' that so many do. I know I did-thought my floor was 190lbs. nope.

this piece of advice stuck with me: I asked an active guy how much protein he has per day. he said "it's not about the amount, it's about what your body needs. listen to your body." you take protein after a workout because your muscles need it. you can feel them asking for it. imo there's a similar idea re: the processed crap that fills 90% of grocery stores. we condition our bodies to tolerate it. look what happened to you when you broke the cycle. listen to your body, and take 'no' for an answer.

that reminds me of this:

MLY believe it or not(and you probably can from our video thing) I am also rooting for you. Fact is, even though I dropped 12 last month you could have and should have destroyed me with the most minimal of effort. But you didn't.

Now what are you going to do about it?
08-03-2016 , 01:48 AM
Are you at least doing 30 mins+ of cardio daily? Please start if you haven't I don't want to lose MLYLT learns to love herself and changes her life (for real this time!)

Totally, which is why I am such a proponent of a low-carb diet. It was so easy to get back into bad habits with other diets, but now when I eat bread or a bunch of carbs my body tells me that it hates it; I feel like ****, and it stops me from eating it again anytime soon. Eating habits should be a lifestyle, not a "diet." I currently eat more complex carbs than I should, but I've maintained my weight loss within 5-10lbs (from 70) with minimal effort at "dieting."

This is kind of what I'm getting at. At your weight, those initial pounds should really just be melting away. If you're truly sticking to your diet, it's REALLY surprising and somewhat abnormal that you didn't crush that first month.
08-03-2016 , 09:21 PM
I think I didn't crush because I was sedentary for most of the month. I think I'm retaining a lot of water from diet sodas as well. I'm going to try to go to only water starting tomorrow, and try to get into a walking routine every night. I'm still in a depression; it's getting better in that I don't want to kill myself anymore, but it's still hard to get out of bed and off the couch.
08-03-2016 , 09:28 PM
Yogurt: 100

2x California roll: 510

(Non-fast food)Bacon cheeseburger: 484
(Non-fast food) Onion rings: 276

Total: 1370

Not a healthy day, but still under 1400cals.
08-03-2016 , 09:39 PM
MLYLT,

Others have said this many times, but I will say it again anyway:

Diet sodas don't cause you to retain water in any meaningful way. You're not not losing weight because you drink diet sodas.

Additional exercise, while helpful, won't cause you to lose weight at a meaningfully faster rate unless we're talking about *a lot* of exercise. What matters for your weight loss is (primarily) what you eat.

The overwhelmingly more likely explanation for your slow (relatively speaking) weight loss is that you're miscounting your calories. I and others have tried talking to you about this many times, unfortunately you don't seem interested in responding (and no, "how do you count your calories?" "I use google" doesn't count as a response in the same way "how much sushi did you have?" "a couple of tuna rolls" doesn't count). It makes it hard to say anything helpful.
08-03-2016 , 10:11 PM
I lost 8.6lbs last month (31days)

8.6lbs=30100calories

30100cals/31days=971cals deficient per day

With a BMR of 2400, that would put my avg daily deficient at 1429cals/day

If my daily avg is 1429cals based on the weight I lost, I don't understand why everyone thinks I'm not accurately counting or thinking I should have lost a lot more weight.
08-03-2016 , 11:10 PM
It's because they're men.

The BMR for a 30 year old 5'8" woman weighing 270 is 2000
The BMR for an equivalent man is 2400

Take the Harris Benedict Equation for a sedentary person and multiply by 1.2 for daily caloric requirements and you have 2400 which is what you've calculated.

But for a man that would be 2,880 or nearly an additional 400 cals per day = 11,780 cals per month = 3.4 additional pounds lost this month.

My objection to your lack of units on many of the loggings not withstanding; I've looked at the pictures & info you've given when it's been sufficiently provided and come up with numbers very close to yours.
