I interpreted his silence on the issue as him recognizing that she is taking it one step at a time. Sometimes baby steps. Sometimes internal steps we don't see. And that harping on this issue would be a waste of time for now. We are looking at low hanging fruit, but she is still picking up stuff from the ground that we take for granted.

But that's just my reading. I leave it to loco to explain himself. Assuming he cares to.
03-18-2018 , 07:27 PM
Yeah, I hear you guys. I just think that pure, unadulterated loco has a great blend of telling someone the damn thing while still being positive and motivating. It seems like whatever modifications he is making here are probably counterproductive to his stated goal.

That's just a guess, though. And I admit it could be wrong.

I think he adjusted expectations downwards. It's like when my mother decided she'd be happy if I just ever got a real job while my brothers ended up working for the most prestigious tech firms and surgery centers in the country.

What do "working towards" and "it would be nice to work on" mean? You realize that you are in control of your own life, right? You decide how you use your time.
03-18-2018 , 10:21 PM
It means working on habits and routines. I'm trying to do the same things in the mornings until it just becomes habit and I don't have to conciously make myself do it.
I want to create better routines for cooking and house cleaning too. Now I'm just randomly going home at lunch to do dishes and I'll be up an hour later tonight finishing laundry instead of reading my book. I want to set aside specific times to do things and actually stick to it instead of doing whatever fits the mood I'm in.

I made these eggs to eat all week.

This has been linked before, explained before, etc. But I'll try again:

It's 3 minutes long so I'll try to help sum it up for you:

Talking about doing things gives a person a similar emotional feeling to actually doing it and can be destructive to accomplishing your goals.

This is something you always do and you're always called out on it. "I'm working on it" I plan on..." "I want to..." etc. is all just bullcrap that you say to make yourself feel better and is scientifically proven to harm your goals. We see through your rouge, do you? Stop talking and start doing.

This is a good post.

MLYLT, don't post that you're going to "work on" a daily routine. Make a routine and stick to it for one week. Then, after you've followed it for a week, post it and post about how it worked out for you (and how it didn't so that people can help you to improve it if you need help/advice).

The eggs are a good example. Instead of simply cooking eggs and posting them, you should eat the eggs and post food logs with the eggs in the logs. Making the eggs isn't the goal: we've seen prepared food cast aside before in favor of restaurant or fast food enough to know that by now.

Or you can continue to tell us your hopes and dreams and continue to make excuses when they don't happen.

K, I'll do this, thanks.

Savage, you may be thinking of that other thread though.

I'm gonna need more than a 160 person "lab" trial & a Ted Talk to convince me. Watch me brag about it then go out and run a sub 3 hour marathon this summer suckers.

I thought I'd heard another idea that telling a ton of people is the best method b/c then you'll feel more accountable and won't want to let them down.
03-19-2018 , 06:10 PM
Both can be true and it's not necessarily contradictory. With M specifically, do you think she gains a lot of emotional utility from talking about her plans and that that may be negatively impacting her achieving her goals? Do you think her talking about it to people on the internet makes her feel more accountable and that she worries about letting us down?

There's also a difference between confiding with a friend your goals and asking them to help keep you accountable and telling people about your plans

My heel Spurs have been really bothering the last few days.itis really hard to stand up in the mornings. I think it's from running +tennis and of course being overweight.
I used to have to get injections and wear special boots at night and shoe inserts. I gotta lose some more weight, I don't want it to come to that again.

At least now I'll be doing more stretching at bed time. I can relieve the pain somewhat by a lot of stretching in my calf's and ankles.
03-20-2018 , 04:59 PM
Running can be very unhealthy to an overweight person(particularly from an injury standpoint), and is not something that is recommended to obese people. You should probably take a couple days off from strenuous activity, walk more, and get back into swimming.

Thayer,

Are you intimating that LoL gave bad advice? It's a good thing I always have my fainting couch prepared for exactly these sorts of unforeseeable and highly unlikely circumstances!

Just checked and the pool is open. It's not heated, so will probably be freezing but I am finally going to get to use my new swim suits and swim laps.

Just made the most delicious salmon salad with homemade strawberry vinergarrett.
Bell peppers, olives, strawberries, salmon.
03-20-2018 , 09:49 PM
That makes 3 nights in a row cooking and eating at home.
03-20-2018 , 09:50 PM
Looks delicious! Great job cooking at home. Keep it up!

There ya go. It takes awhile to ingrain a habit, but once you do, you'll look back and find it crazy how much you used to eat out.
