Don't want to derail the OOT/Larry Legend slam fest, but I have to put in my workout before I forget.

First off, I had a very embarrassing moment at the gym when I tried and failed benching 115lbs and had it on my chest for a full minute before I could get this guy's attention to help.

3.7miles walking

Bench:
1x15x45
1x5x95
1x5x75
1x 1/2 x 115 lol

DB rows:
3x10x35

Lat Pulldown:
1x15x75
2x10x95

DB tricepts:
3x10x15

Not sure, but almost a month straight when I lost around 13lbs in one month. I lost all my dang calorie data and the only way to know is to trudge through this thread.

Yes, I was consistently going 3x/week in the very beginning and Feb-May of this year.

I'm finally at 4days straight under 1800cals today!

Oh, I also wanted to say, I wouldn't let anyone give you too much crap about diet soda.

I've given up meat, dairy, most added sugars, and consume what most people would consider unreasonable amounts of fruits and vegetables. I eat whole grains, tofu, legumes, salads, peanut/almond/cashew butters etc, although I do sometimes eat some processed foods like a frozen black bean burger, canned vegetarian chili, or a mushroom and spinach tamale. I've lost almost 30 lbs since I changed my antipsychotic medication and am feeling and sleeping much, much better.

But they will get my Coke Zero from my cold, dead hands.

Damn straight! Just toss the chitty Coke Zero I eat over 5 pounds of assorted veggies per day, so **** those guys.

Congrats on the weight loss!

Never cared for coke zero, taste metallic to me. Pepsi Max is my drug.

MLYLT,

You're claiming you logged and posted ITT ~25-30 CONSECUTIVE days of < 1800 calories?

Remind me roughly when this month happened?

ETA: How did you lose your calorie data, aren't you posting screenshots of that spreadsheet every now and then?

I'm so glad you are feeling better and sleeping good. Awesome job on the weighloss!!!

Yeah, I could never give up soda completely either.

I don't understand why it's hard to give up soda. What's so good about it?

The chemicals are very addictive so your body craves it and then the ahhhhhhh when you get some.

I was a diet-coke-aholic.

They're really not. You don't see anyone shooting up on aspartame. People just like sweet tasting stuff. The ahhhhh effect just comes from your thirst being lessened.

Why shoot it up when you could guzzle it down? That's like asking why smoke when you could wear a bunch of patches. Cuz guzzling it down is so enjoyable!

People like sweet tasting stuff, I agree. That is not the lure of diet coke though, not even close. Same goes for your Ahhhh theory.

However, you're awfully cute and I like watching you lift.

Yeah, I used to drink basically nothing but soda, but pretty much just stopped while dieting once and now rarely do. It didn't take long to have zero cravings for it and I don't miss it at all now. Even if you want to say it's horribly addictive and you can't imagine life without it, that seems like a good enough reason by itself to at least try to cut back rather than just accepting it, unless you like that feeling of helplessness in your life. Plus it's horrible for your teeth and conditions craving of other sweets, even if it has zero calories itself. It's a relatively easy win if you have the slightest bit of self-control to get started; way, way easier than cutting hundreds of calories from your diet or quitting smoking.

1. Caffeine. I also drink iced tea, but it's not the same.

2. Fizz. Mmmm...love that icy moment when it hits my tongue like an explosion of faceted diamonds.

3. So sweet. So crisp. So delicious.

I don't smoke. I seldom drink. Despite weight problems that I've struggled with, my doctor literally looked at my blood test results and said "based on these you're never going to die." My cholesterol is 90. Diet soda doesn't seem to be hurting me. I am pretty sure given an ultimatum, if I had to give up one of diet soda or sex, sex would lose.

Hi Magilla!

I know, but it's based on my decades long habit, one that I thought I could never ever live without. btw that's a common statement - many, many people I know typically say I can live with xyz but not my soda. That should be telling. I hear it all the time. Twizzlers are fabulous but I don't hear people mentioning how they can't live without them.

Hi! Glad you're back around again, btw.

Oh, I'm well aware of the sentiment, I just like a little science to go with my anecdotes. Call me crazy

And ftr, I would choose a Coke almost over any other treat, almost any time. I don't drink them very often because I'm not a maniac and I have a little self control, but it's my favorite
09-14-2017 , 01:21 PM
i would think diet soda would only be addicting because of the caffeine. some people drink +10 cups of coffee a day.

or could it be that artificial sweetener and caffeine combine to form a deadly 1,2 addictive punch?

doubt it but i never looked this up. my guess its the caffeine. does anybody drink 96 ounces of diet 7up a day?
09-14-2017 , 02:27 PM
Josie,

Many, many people also have a cousin who eats huge amounts of food, never exercises, and just never gains weight.
