Hey all. I recently went to see a doctor about my health issues, non weight related. Though while there, he asked me about my weight ect. and ordered some lab tests. Found out that my sugar levels were a bit high, but not too much. I want to start to lose weight now and now I have more reason to do it. Atm I weigh 242 lbs and would like to get to 176 lbs.

Ive been googling a lot about low carb diets etc. The hardest part for me to understand is what to actually eat. I know you should include a lot of proteins and stuff with not lots of carbs. How should I go at it, do Atkins? How many carbs per day should I be getting?

If you could point me to some sites with example diet menus or could recommend me some breakfast, lunch, dinner stuff, thatd be great!

Thanks. Fwiw I read bb's post, was rly good.

1.) eat clean.
2.) carbs in the morning are fine. carbs at night, not so much.
3.) complex carbs would be better than simple ones. glycemicindex.com

oh, and what i wanted to say: eat fewer calories and/or workout.

hes trying to lose weight dude, your comments arent really relevant to his priorities.

OP, educate yourself as much as possible on nutrition and get on a good healthy eating regimen. if you dont have your diet in check you can pretty much forget about losing weight. regular exercise (cardio and resistance) are both great as well, and have additional benefits and should def be incorporated into your plan, but diet is the real key.
if you're serious about losing weight and getting in shape then there is a huge amount of info available for you and it wont be hard to construct a good eating plan.

Here's what I had today

Breakfast -- 4 egg yolks, 5 egg whites, 2 slices American Cheese, 2 apples

Snack -- 2 apples

Lunch -- 12 oz Chicken breast w/ green veggies (usually cucumbers/celery/etc...)

Dinner -- Same as Lunch

Every now and then I snack on a slice of cheese or some more fruit/veggies

There ya go, that's like 1500cals a day and ~175g/protein and very low carbs, less if you drop the fruits for green veggies (which most diets wouldn't count in your carb total). Don't like chicken, try lean ground beef, fish, tuna, etc....Supplement with a multi-vitamin and some fish oil and you have just about all the nutrition your body needs on a fairly low calorie diet.

Are you trolling? All three of these have been addressed in the past, and are myths, fallacies, or misguided at best.
