Losing this gut/getting tone with ExpectedV

Previous thread: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/85...510-a-1485526/

ExpectedV is willing to help me lose this gut/transform my body.

tl;dr/cliffs:

-OP sees before/after pics of Lebron on no carb diet.
-OP very critical of his body at the start of Oct 2014.
-OP wants to make a change.
-OP has an addiction for junk food/fast food.
-OP changes his diet/exercise more to lose gut fat.
-OP is doing it wrong.
-ExpectedV jumps in to save the day.

As of today, I am 150 pounds, 5 feet 10 inches tall. I thought I was healthy overall(besides the gut), but then i heard the term 'skinny-fat'. Googled 'skinny-fat' and realized I'm in pretty bad shape.

Recent pictures:

Let us transform.

Re: Losing this gut/getting tone with ExpectedV

If I were one of those tools that subscribed to threads because I was too lazy to scroll, I would say something like "posting to subscribe" because I'd want to see how this progresses.

But as it is, I'm not functionally retarded and/or cripplingly lazy and thus able to use the internet, so I will just say good luck, and that I think for your goals (primarily aesthetic, yes?) you are in capable hands.

Listening to what he has to say re: diet, btw, is going to be much more important than the lifting part (although that is also important). That he is one of the most fastidious people on the forum wrt diet and was also able to get the leanest is not a coincidence.

Loco,

You have probably already mentioned it in the old thread, but that thread is way too long to scroll through. Assuming this guy lifted for a year or so, what is his ideal weight, 140?

OP, I'd set some rules about content in this thread so it doesnt turn into the last one. As per H&F rules of order, a log's OP can set (and have enforced) rules, though usually they are respected by the regs at least.

Diet. Get ready for chicken, rice, more chicken, more rice, and then some chicken and some rice.

EV's life would be WOAT nomzies except he actually knows how to cheat. Unlike Mr. Golden who just throws in a donut sometimes rather than really getting after it with multiple desserts and crap.

I agree with this post.

Personally, I'd quite enjoy a summary post from either EV or the OP with a workout and diet plan description, and I'd hope we'd get some form check videos either in here or in the form check thread. Whatever works best for the OP is obviously what should end up happening, though.

Come now, what is best for the Monte**batorium is what's best for OP. Don't pretend like we don't all already know this.

The guy wants to get ripped, not turn into a powerlifter; it's hard to argue with EV's results in that respect. Plus, OP seems like he sees weightlifting as more a means to an end and less as an end in and of itself, so I doubt he's going to be interested in grinding out heavy sets of squats and deadlifts for six months so his legs get a little bigger.

OR, get into nutrition/cooking and eat like a king every day
quinoa/amaranth/bulgur/couscous all better than rice btw(more nutritious AND more filling)

Re: Losing this gut/getting tone with ExpectedV

I gave all my info to Russ earlier today. Patiently waiting to his response/plan.

Today's diet went something like this:

Breakfast: 2 egg omlette(chopped onions, hot green peppers, sweet peppers, salt, pepper). 1 large apple with skin, 1 banana.

Lunch: 1 1/2 chicken breast cooked in red wine vinegar, salt, pepper, garlic, spices. Steamed broccoli.

Dinner: Other half of the chicken breast, tuna salad.

Snacked on some grapes and raspberries when I got hungry.

My lame attempt at food porn:

Spoiler:

Exercise:

Completed day 2 week 1 of the 100 push up challenge. I am in the 11-20 push up range for this week. http://www.hundredpushups.com/

Completed 20 minute HIIT workout. Seems to get easier and easier the more I do it. Here is the exercise I do:

Had dinner about 3 hours ago, and now I'm off for my jog.

Maybe I have a very different notion of what "tuna salad" is compared to the OP.

Re: Losing this gut/getting tone with ExpectedV

1,952 calories
40f/208c/190p (fats/carbs/protein)

Cardio:
Run 1 mile 4x/week

Workout:
Monday-
Squats 3x8-12
Leg press 5x10
Lying leg curls 5x10

Wednesday-
Bench press 3x8-12
Decline bench 5x10
Dips 5x10

Thursday-
Deadlift 3x8-12
Pull ups 5x10
DB row 5x10

Friday-
Seated military press 3x8-12
Seated rear delt raises 5x10
DB shrugs 5x10

Was told to keep the weights really low and just focus on form for the first couple of days. I don't even know what these lifts look like, so for the next couple of days, I'm going to watch a ton of youtube videos on these lifts. Probably by the end of the week I will get myself a membership to the gym. A buddy of mine is hooking me up with a discount.

Re: Losing this gut/getting tone with ExpectedV

I didn't know what those macros numbers meant. Russ cleared it all up for me. This is going to be harder than I thought. No clue how I'm going to reach 190g of protein a day. I'm looking at this chicken breast nutrition facts and a 4oz piece is only 25g of protein. Should I get the whey protein powders? On days I come up short, I can probably just make myselfa quick protein shake. I will try to come as close to the numbers as I can.

Re: Losing this gut/getting tone with ExpectedV

Good luck OP. I think your last thread was definitely a mess (not your fault). I really doubt you're going to need Aidan (or more realistically anklebreaker) to start infracting people to keep them from tarding up your thread this time around.

I think everyone more or less got that out of their system in the last thread. Also, with few exceptions, as time logs tend to lose steam (both from those who keep them and those who follow).

I think it's good that you're going to have a coherent plan from one guy. And it's lucky for you that you actually know the one guy on here who you would probably most like to emulate. I'm sure if you do what he says and stick with it, you will get good results.

Re: Losing this gut/getting tone with ExpectedV

Starting Strength is the go to resource for squat and deadlift technique, and is a decent primer on bench press too.

Some people will go on about how some protein sources are better or worse than others. Whether those things are true or not, I think that's a pretty small rock and you should not worry about that now. Unless you do something really bizarre and try to get 100% of your protein from soybeans, you'll probably be fine no matter how you get your 190g.

It sounds like your plan is to eat as much protein-rich food as you can (e.g. chicken or other meat) and if you fall short, then you will fill the gap with a whey protein supplement. That's totally standard and fine.
