10k Swings: Day 5

Time: 44:18

One handed today, but did the last 10 reps of the 50 swing sets with two hands.

Decided to go on 4x week plan cuz my hands are super beat up. So took the whole weekend to heal.

I got some mava gloves, they're actually quite nice. I used them today and nk issues. But the slight increase in diameter does tire the grip.

Cardiovascularly I notice things are getting easier.

10k Swings day 6:
Same as yesterday, but did knuckle push-ups between sets instead. Sets of 6 with some 5s tossed in.

Gloves are a godsend.

Grip improving but started to fatigue on later sets.

Overall it's getting easier.

Time: 40:12

Think I might quit beer altogether in 2022. Need to optimize everything else to fade the vex heart attack.

Definitely quit the High Life but maybe keep the Tree House.

10k swings looks interesting; might give it a try in the new year if I can figure out how to row around it.

Hope you got a nice matching purse to go with them! #SS4Lyfe, #Rippetoe

Seriously tho, these swongs sound horrible. Did deadlifts tear up your hands this badly? My hands are soft AF and DLing was the worst for me. Only reason it didn't tear my hands up more is that I only did them once a week in true Rippebro fashion. Most people build up some useful calluses when they DL a lot. Does it no work that way with KBs.

10k swings sounds brutal, but kinda fun. Nice work.

Some people, even APF US record holders, won't do kettlebells. They can't handle the swings. But there are others, like kidcolin, who consider kettlebells the only pure lift left.

Lol. nh.

12/3/21:

Day 8:

Same exact as yesterday, save for starting off on right hand. Still sets of 6 push-ups between. Will bump that up next week. But I decided one arm kettlebell press too cardiovascularly taxing. Maybe if I stuck to one arm but a set of 3 is really a set of 6 and it saps you.

Anyway, the key thing about today:

lol. I'm too old and broken for 10,000 swings in a month, but I still do swings sometimes. I don't always log everything I do. Swings are great.

12/6/21:

10k swings day 9

Same routine, but bumped push-ups to 7 reps.

Time: 35:28

Time keeps getting shaved off nicely. They're to the point where 25 and 50 rep sets are the only work sets and I can plow through the 10 and 15.

Only tough thing today is my left middle finger got an infection over the weekend. A deep blood blister developed at the second knuckle. I tried popping it with a knife. Swollen the next day lol. Salt bath and antibiotic cream did the trick but a bit painful today.

12/7/21: day 10

Same as yesterday. Left middle finger blister is annoying but manageable.

Time: 35:03

I just realized I'll be traveling in what would be the final week of this program. I originally planned to do it in 4 weeks but shifted to 5.

I'd miss two workouts so maybe just push it a few days rather than try to cram 4 extra workouts into the next 10 days.

10k swings day 12

Same. Hands getting a bit fatigued.

Time: 36:15

Less focused today, only reason for the slower time. Last half of workout had to dial into a Teams meeting.

I believe in you.

Are you taking any measurements pre/post program?

I took a pic, weighed myself (around 172 I think) and measured waist.

Tbh not happy with the body comp. Been drinking too much even during this. And prob need to focus on nutrition a bit more. I just kinda eat whatever.

2022 is gonna be a low booze year that I'm sure of. Cept a euro trip that hopefully pans out if the new world order panopticon isn't instituted by then.

Guy does swings and pushups only and is unhappy with body comp?

Tellmemore.jpeg

Gotta do 15 pullups and bench press bodyweight 15 times. Then you will be happy.

If you don't want to bench that's fine, foot elevated pushups and archer pushups.
Kidcolin's log: back to basics (plus neck harness) Quote
12-17-2021 , 02:11 AM
Yeah I desperately need to do a lot more pull-ups.

No access to weights at the moment.

Tbh not sure how married with kids dudes find time for gym. In perpetual covid lockdown with no commute, just a wife, and anything more than a 45, min workout stresses the clock.

Honestly, I think my upperbody was getting bigger during lockdown.

Archer pushup 3x6
4th stair feet elevated pushups 4x10
Banded 1-arm row 3x8
Pullups 4x12

3x a week, 15 minutes each upperbody workout. Only need band(s) and a pullup bar.

Swings should be enough for hams and glutes. So just need a pistol squat progression or a bike. No gym.

Diet mostly irrelevant, as long as you lean.

Definitely need to start back into pull-ups; I'm up to 240 pushups a day (frequency style), though I should probably add some feet elevated ones in the new year and get back to dips/pullups with some frequency too.

Hard to believe our boy is at 172 and still trying to defluff; Father Time comes for us all. Booze and late nights definitely the enemy of the midsection.

Yeah pretty crazy. This guy use to be 250lbs and squat 500, deadlift 500 but his head looked like a beachball.

Now in his whatsapp he looks like he was just discharged from the Marines, instead of pushing 40, more like 25.

Maybe there is something to Indian Vegan. Honestly, not many fatty Indians.
