Anyone who can do 50 push-ups looks jacked, loco. It is known.

And yeah I was a bit leaner in that pic. Think I'm particularly doughy now as compared to a month ago just due to holidays and snacking. Not too worried.

Unfortunately I don't have access to pull ups. Maybe I'll just pick up the old shitty door hang one I had at my place. I don't like those tho. My place has one room that would be perfect to install a legit bar on but I'm renting and don't feel like mangling the place. I'm buying sometime soon. Hopefully by June.

Let me just also rant that every kettlebell guru I see talks like KBs are to be feared. Like doing 5 swings with a 16kg is tough work for a man and it constitutes strength work. And women should start with 8. Sure my wife can't press the 16kg but she can do 10 sets of 10 with it. I think these dudes are all form spergs and act like KBs are Olympic lifting.

One other note, I'm starting the year alcohol free, which I also did in 2018 which was prob my peak lifting fitness. Might even get crazy and push it past January. Maybe a dry Q1. Might just go full straight edge.

The wife also volunteered me for an alcohol free January friend pact, and that it now sounds daunting probably informs how much I'd been drinking over the last few months. Shouldn't be too hard once I get into the habit, since I regularly went months without drinking before the 'tine.

I'm also fairly certain I will get to 50 pushups and not looked jacked, so achievement unlocked I suppose.

I'm going to get back to logging here. I miss my bros, and my other internet slack chat kicked me out for being too woke.

I failed bad at push-ups cuz I had an injured shoulder for a couple months from waiters' walks of all things.

Been mostly messing with KBs still, but I always end up blistering my hands if I do a lot of cleans and snatches. I mostly stick to one arm swings, TGUs, and clean and press.

Today I did 10 1-arm 24kg swings every 30s for 18 rounds. Then some clean and presses til I blistered my left pinky.

Might check out a real gym soon but we'll see.

The other big fitness thing I'm pursuing is SWIMMING. I will post more on this later but my wife couldn't swim as of like 10 weeks ago. She did six weeks of once a week lessons, but they sucked, so we found a pool nearby and started going quite often. 5-6 days a week. Today she did 10x25m, mix of back stroke and freestyle. It's awesome.

I've learned a ton by trying to teach her. I could always do fine in the water but was never particularly strong. I've come a long way. A single 25m was hard for me free style, now I can do a pretty effortless. 25m in 25s. Not a blistering pace but I'm learning. Back stroke is much improved too. Goal is to be able to do a continuous 400m by end of year.

Will try to make this a regular update now.

It's telling I return just in time for no nut November.

DefNotThremp,

Lol the whole class was BIPOC. Kinda felt bad for the others, the class was legit awful. Granted, teaching adults with no prior water experience with just 45mins a week is basically impossible, but still.

11/1/21
Morning:
24kg 1arm swings:
10 reps every 30s, 18 rounds (180 total)

24kg C+P:
3 reps each side, 3 rounds then blisters.

Evening: swimming
10x25. Mostly freestyle, 2 or 3 backstroke

11/2/21
16kg TGUs, 10 mins. 14 reps. Went slow and exaggerated each position

32kg 1.arm swings:
8 every 30s. 12 rounds.

Push-ups:
8 EMOTM for 10 mins. Trying to build endurance.

No pool today prob.

Re: pushups, I've been a bit more GTG with mine, but same idea. Worked up to 10 sets of 20 controlled reps with 7' rests between, which generates effectively no extra fatigue. Probably going to knock off rest time down to 5' and then either keep adding reps or taking away rest.

I find it amusing how white people have no idea that only other white people know how to swim, and literally everyone else views swimming as a normal learned skill like ice skating.

Glad you are skittle belling. I've heard getting a pair of cotton gloves can help with blisters.

If anyone has suggestions for a decent skittlebells program I'm all ears. Think I need something formal because it starts to bore me to tears.

Like worked up to 20min EMOTM 24kg x15 one arm swings. Not that hard but then tried ramping up volume on 24kg x20 swings set. Got to 12mins and was kinda brutal and didn't keep going.

Guess I could just up the weight.

Are you actually doing pushups for 70 minutes?

kc,

When you decided to teach Mrs. kc how to swim, is there any sort of specific program you used as a guideline. The Melk kids are learning how to swim now and are also on a 1x/week lesson plan. It's not doing a whole lot. Once they get vaxxed, I might bump up the frequency. I thought about maybe taking them to the pool myself when there is no one around, but I'm not exactly sure what I would do. My swimming ability is pretty terrible and I haven't legit gone swimming in years.

Melk,

Private lessons 3x per week got it done for us (that led into junior swim group, which we eventually had to abandon when it clashed with soccer).

Yeah, that's probably what we need to do. However, I'd bet anything the minis are substantially more athletic than the Melks. So even that will take a long time for them to become competent.

What kind of schedule did you do? After school? Mostly weekends?
