I know that feeling well.

It's there.

yeah it would have matched a PR at a lower BW and after basically a year off.

I'm doing a mock meet next saturday so I'll follow normal meet prep this week in terms of lifting, but I plan on holding my routine schedule and getting up early and I'll prob go to the gym and just screw around a little on machines and stuff on non-training days.

Then I think next cycle I'll focus on press and see I can't press 200 in 3-4 months.

Try unracking from the pins instead of the j's. It removes the walk out from the equation so you can set your feet exactly where you like, then unrack and go straight into the first rep.

Walk out is part of the lift.

Maybe if you're trying to put up a CrossFit total in front of some judges at some point. Otherwise, it seems like an arbitrary distinction. A much older lifter might say that cleaning it to your shoulders first is part of the lift. Lots of legit lifters do their presses off pins or blocks, but as you like.

kc,

One might say that doing full ROM is "part of the lift" as well. Unless you fall in the Eddie Hall territory where his wrapped elbows prevent him from starting the lift below his nose.

Holliday is correct btw. Focus on aggressively getting your head through the "window". I have head butted more than a few PR attempts, but so goes life. Also, don't listen to any idiots who suggest this is "bad for your neck". Please see the recovery position of any Oly sqat jerker. They got their heads super far forward with neck extended and are only managing to put something like 450 overhead. The focus on tucking your chin in many exercises is something that is just overlty dumb and not useful (except to miss lifts) in healthy populations.

If I were to compete in a Strength Lifting competition, which I may at some point, my lift would be legal under ussf rules.

Doing the lift from the shoulders is silly for obvious reasons. It serves zero purpose in terms of strength development and puts you in a dumb mechanical disadvantage if you have long forearms like I do. Or I could clean it and do an Olympic style double layback press. I mean I could go ass to grass too but why? Epoints?

Agree on the head through and if you see my work sets you'll see I'm pretty good at that. maybe ill post the atrempts before that. It's just sometimes **** gets heavy.

I was going to post exactly this, considering much of what you corrected when we were lifting related to getting my head through sooner. Pretty sure it's there whenever it is you decide to test it next.

I guess. I think developing a pregnancy sized gut is dumb, but it serves a purpose for fringe "lifting" sports to reduce ROM. So I guess that is fine. Obviously you can't assert any first principle #masterrace argument when you're doing what you're doing, which is bad.

wrt head stuff. If you know what to do, just practice it. That was clearly a lift you might be able to grind out, but being a better position would make it easier to complete.

I actually was impressed by how fast you got your head under the bar with that failed rep. But perhaps I misunderstand.

to Epoints lol

fakeb,

Since I'm posting "content" in lieu of stories about dating or whatever.

This is a ~pre-HA/post-competing G4S weight for a dude around jdock size. If you notice the head positioning between him and kc, you'll notice obviously they both get their head out of the way of the bar, but Milko puts his "through the window" as he locks out. kc just kinda keeps his chin tucked and doesn't really work at getting his head forward and his arms behind him. The only decent presser who doesn't seem to do this is Chingiz, but he can't press BW and I struggle to tell anything about his positioning since he makes Tony Siragusa look lean.

Here is one with adult sized weights showing the same thing. (More than 2 wheels!)

Then again here is Wendler doing the kc imitation. I'm not sure whether its related to powerlifting, or a mobility thing, or related to just not being very strong and having kinda derpy mobility.

ETA: https://youtu.be/z5zIBsKVzCU?t=206 - Chingiz and the weird angle/form. But three wheels atleast.

These guys use so much leanback it looks like an incline press when you pause at peak leanback. That's why they got rid of this lift as a strength standard.

Evo lifts the same way. No lift.

ok, this week didn't go as planned. My memere passed away last Sunday after a full life of 96 years. Kinda jacked my week up and I drank more and slept less than would be ideal, and obv didn't train despite planning to most days. Work also picked up a bit cuz I had to get **** done by Thursday. Wake was Thurs and funeral was yesterday.

anyway, **** it, I'll do the mock meet anyway. Apologies for 9 separate vids instead of tied together. Youtube got rid of it's vid editor.

This was kinda rushed. I got there 90mins prior to close but the rack was occupied so I only had ~1:15. Went well other than the DLs which was way too rushed. Only ~40mins between last squat and last DL.

Squat:
385x1
420x1
455x1

Bench:
205x1
225x1
240x1 (oops no pause)

Deadlift:
435x1
475x1
510xf

I did eat a donut today. And a fruit square. Can't blame it on lack of PEDs.

Nice squat amigo.

You only need two lifts and a bunch of us can't hit that with three.
