Compare to the rest of the world who use x/100 g and you'd snap see that they both contain about the same amount of protein (80% is easy to see with 80 g protein per 100 g of weight). 80g isn't too hot btw, the one I use is 90% and very tasty (as powders go).

So both are ~80% protein by weight. You don't get more protein with the Isolate, the scoop is just bigger.

strong wtfzors
I guess u mean based on the grams of each serving. Not sure why that matters tho since each tub has different serving amounts. It's 546am so I might be having one of those special math moments.

I think the regular whey had like 36 servings in there at 18g protein. Isolate has 25 servings at 30g protein.

18x36= 648g protein whole tub
30x25= 750g protein whole tub

kno wha I'm sayin? strong math concepts ITT.

Optimum Nutrition Platinum Hydro Whey

Per Serving:
Fat - 1 gram (2.6% of total weight)
Carbs - 2 grams (5.1% of total weight)
Protein - 30 grams (76.9% of total weight)
Other - 6 grams (15.4% of total weight)

Total net weight of powder per tub = 1590 grams

Total protein per tub = 1223 grams

Cost of tub (at supplementwarehouse.com) = $54.99

Cost per gram of protein = 4.5 cents

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard

Per Serving:
Fat - 1 gram (3.3% of total weight)
Carbs - 3 grams (9.9% of total weight)
Protein - 24 grams (78.9% of total weight)
Other - 2.4 grams (7.9% of total weight)

Total net weight of powder per tub = 2341 grams

Total protein per tub = 1848 grams

Cost of tub (at supplementwarehouse.com) = $53.99

Cost per gram of protein = 2.9 cents

Obviously there are slight rounding errors in extrapolating per serving nutrition to a per tub basis, but it's not significant enough to matter. In the case of Optimum Nutrition at standard retail prices, the platinum whey costs 50% more on a per gram basis.

I have a very hard time believing any isolate product would ever be cheaper on a per gram basis than any concentrate product, at competitive pricing of course.

No. My point was that, due to using content per serving instead of content per 100 grams, you had problems comparing concentrate and isolate, as shown by your "Regular whey has 18g protein and isolate has 30g protein. That's the main reason why I go with isolate." statement (emphasis mine).

If content was listed per 100 g instead, you could've seen immediately that the concentrate contains just 2% less protein than the isolate. Which is why using serving size instead of a standardized unit like 100 g is retarted as ****. It enables companies to more easily portray their product in the best possible light by manipulating serving sizes, and makes it harder for consumers to compare products. In most other Western countries, content 100/g is the standard (though serving sizes might be used in addition).

Like I said though, this is nothing new.

the reason I was asking about it was because I work at vitamin world so I get a good discount. the isolate I get for 20$ is $39.99

I assume you get a corresponding discount on non-isolate too though?

IDK just figure out the price per gram of actual protein for a whole container. It takes the serving size and servings per container out of the equation. It also allows you to compare against other sources like chicken, which is like 2 cents per gram.

Third day in a row working 12+ hours. Decided to take the day off due to lack of sleep and few other things that got to me today. Will workout sat and sun to make up for it. This coming week gonna up my carbs on all days by 15g. Will do this every two weeks until I'm at the 4k-5k calorie range. Most likely will bulk for the next 6-8 months.
