I sort of revisited it recently but couldn't sustain 5 days a week with any reasonable level of intensity.

I mean from a lower body training perspective, optimal hypertrophy programming doesn't really diverge from optimal strength programming until some pretty decent weight is being moved. Doing anything other than working on your 5rm squat and 5rm deadlift until you hit a 2x bodyweight squat and 2.5x bodyweight deadlift just seems like it is pussyfooting around the cause of the problem, which is general lower body weakness. I could've saved myself a solid 2 years of lifting in college if I had just started out doing 3x5xMax squats and some deadlifts twice a week instead of whatever fancy garbage I did.
According to Layne, it takes 6 weeks alone to get used to the program. I guess that is where we are different, I do not care about my numbers and my strength I care more about aesthetics. Obviously the two are linked but some people only care about going up in their max bench/deadlift/squats more than anything else. You do not need to push a lot of weight to look ripped as chit. Granted you will be strong but not as strong as others in the height/weight as you. I would admit it is hard to be going strong throughout every single workout for the whole duration of the workout.

I have far but strong legs and is obviously something I need to work on so your points may be accurate, I really do not know. All i can say is that on your power day you are doing low reps for everything.

First week of bulk 9/2-9/9 complete.. All the macros were around 2500-2600 calories and now I weigh 165.8 as of today 9/9. I weigh myself around the same time when I goto the gym, nothing in pockets, take off shoes. I do not know my exact weight the start of this thread probably 164-165. I'm going to use the same macros this week and adjust them the week after. I have been super sore even with the off days. My body is getting used to the new routine.

I believe whey protein isolate absorbs better and from the products I have seen has higher grams of protein. Isolate is the purest form of whey protein.

Very doubtful. And if I'm wrong, we're talking about like a 1% difference in absorption efficiency. See: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/nut...stibility.html

Bulking application - approved. You are lean enough. Now bulk.

IEL application - rejected bro. Check bustoinhawaii noodz from a couple months back. That's what we are looking for to be considered IEL around here. He also does 26 pull-ups. Deadlifts 2.5 bodyweight. Presses 1.5 bodyweight. And has benched 2x bodyweight. A legend.

The good news is you got potential and you are still young. Some of us got the olds and will never make it.

Currently bulking, on dat slow lean bulk. Dumb question, what is IEL? Busto is obviously very strong but how are his aesthetics? Benching 2x is absolutely ridiculous. I thought I was doing good benching 225 weighing 165 haha. Thanks but look younger than I am, dem asian genetics.

I could be wrong but I don't think Busto has ever pressed 1.5x or benched 2x.

It'd probably be based off of things like taste and how well it mixes with things like oatmeal and greek yogurt. I really don't consume much protein powder in general, just to spice up those type of meals.

EV,

busto's nudes are in his log, but he has the best aesthetics in the forum without a doubt (his lats are probably wider than he is tall).

This forum discovery journey you're on must be fun.

Ill check out his log but those are pretty redic numbers. Yeah I get them for the same price, 20$ for either of them with 26 servings. Regular whey has 18g protein and isolate has 30g protein. That's the main reason why I go with isolate.

I just checked out his log for his pics. He is pretty short but has good aesthetics. Seems to have good metabolism as well, saw a few days he would eat over 150g fats. Excited to see members who are so beastly, gives me more motivation.

You might just be getting ****ty regular whey. You can pretty easily find regular whey's with the same macros as all other lean sources (5/1 calorie/protein)

I get ON Gold Standard 100% Whey from Amazon for about 50 bucks per 5 lb tub, and it's got 130 cal, 24 g protein and 5 g carbs per serving (71 total). Pretty good stuff imo

The other thing to keep in mind is serving size.

ON Gold Standard is 30g for 24g of protein.

ON Performance Whey Isolate is 37g for 30g protein

So both are ~80% protein by weight. You don't get more protein with the Isolate, the scoop is just bigger.

I'm betting its the same with whatever you've been using, though 12g is a noticeable amount more physically, so unless you've seen the scoops side by side...

Aight so the regular whey protein scooper is 25g and isolate is 36g. Both of the protein amounts are accurate in my previous post. The isolate has 25 servings while regular whey has 36 servings. I still think I'm going with the isolate because 30g protein per scoop is solid and is the same price.
