Yes to Foxwoods, no to stud. I don’t know the nuances of the game well enough. I used to play 7 card (or 5 card) stud w my dad when I was a kid but that’s it.

Nlhe & plo are what I play at FW.

Mama likie.

Current status is on the bus in traffic headed to the office for another day of mania. In my bag is cheddar cheese, apple, banana, cubed chicken, deli turkey, plain yogurt, and a salad. Gonna fill my tummy w this shiat so I eat less sugary holiday gifts that are piling up in office. We had 3 deliveries yesterday.

I’m pretty pleased with how my eating is back on track during the hardest time of the year for me.

The 4 principals just gave me the holiday ‘gift’ list. Checks given to employees at the holiday party. They are not considered bonuses but a gift.

Well my boss is pissed at his gift. It’s smaller than last year’s. Mine? I got the same. Josie 2.0 A bunch of people got a reduced bonus, not just him, yet it was like he was mad at me for not being in the same boat.

It escalated when one of the principals came into my office and he saw her.

A: Patty, front and center! (He yelled this to her from his office.)

P: I’m busy Andy.

A: Jesus, Patty can you give me a minute? (Still yelling from his office)

P: I just told you I’m busy Andy.

It declined from there. Escalated to full on screaming and she said in a voice low and full of hatred. “I’ve told you before not to yell at me.”

At this point I got up and walked away; something I used to do when I was little and my parents were fighting. I came back 15 min later and all was quiet.

Did that blow over ok? I asked.

She’s an *******, he replied. “I just wanted to thank her for the holiday gift. She couldn’t give me a minute? I thanked her and she didn’t even acknowledge it or say “you’re welcome”.

He’s such a jerk.
You're about to get promoted!

Ha, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a change in his position before he retires. He’s almost 71 and told them he wants to work until 75.

The Weekend

Saturday was 1 hr aqua fit class then upper body. Ohp, BP, hammer curls, hanging leg raises.

Felt stronger w BP. Previously I could barely do 1 rep at 60lbs, so I was happy I did 2 sets of 3 reps at 60lbs.

Then I tried 65lbs. WIM

Got 1 rep done, shouldn’t have tried the second but I did, unsuccessfully. Half way up then right back down to my chest. trapped for a sec under the bar. I started to slide the weights off one side but a big gut sprang into action and got it off me. A little scary, to be sure but no injury. Next time I try 65 lbs I’ll ask a neighbor to spot me.

*******
Today (Sunday) I did a Zumba class and I loved it. I went balls to the wall and was soaked w sweat when done, then did some random ****.

OHP 3x5x45lbs 3x3x50 lbs

So yeah muscle is visible now...been powerlifting for about 6 weeks.

Today’s weight is 125lbs, which is exactly what I weighed 6weeks ago when I started.

I will not eat cookies. I will not eat cookies. I will not eat cookies.

It doesn't matter that they are free. I could afford $20 cookies if I want them so I will NOT eat the ****ing cookies that keep getting sent to my office. It doesn't matter that they're free!!!

BUT OMFG THEY SENT LIKE 6 VARIETIES, including a salted peanut butter brownie cookies.

Ohmmmmmmmmmmm

I can't eat cookies the entire month leading up to Christmas.

And I won't.

My dinner is already planned: Chicken, sweet potato, brussel sprouts - no cookies.

So much for the theory that the gains in the first six weeks are purely neurological. Nice work

Thanks guys!
I want to know more about neurological gains theory. Renton’s mentioned it too.

Can anyone provide details on this?

Btw I didn’t eat any cookies but brought home an entire cake that was sent to me. Fml

Bringing it home seemed like a great idea at the time but now I’m home alone w a lemon glazed cake. Omfg

There are forks in my house and I’m not afraid to use them.

Are you going to be using the forks to eat the cake or stab your hands into the table to prevent yourself from eating it? Would a foodbank take a cake?

Josie,

The ten cent summary is that, as one begins lifting, much of the gains you experience (i.e. the ability to do more reps with a given weight, more sets with a given weight, or more weight for the same number of reps) comes from your brain becoming more adapted/better at firing the involved muscles, and firing them with more force. This isn't too say that you won't experience some gains in actual lean muscle tissue as well, just that some portion of progress is due to neural adaptation/skill development.

haha, just seeing these now and yes I'm being rude, though I still have that sealed cake at home, but not for long. My sister is visiting her elderly friend in rehab and she's bringing it with her.

Krunic, without those sleeves I'd slap myself in my face with the excess skin.

I have indeed decided to get skin removal surgery only on my arms. The excess skin on my tummy and legs will be a fun surprise for whoever is lucky enough to see me nekkid.

Monte, thank you...I can feel that process happening lately...the ability to push myself more than before. But then again, I did recently trap myself under a bar of weights while doing a bench press.

I got wicked scared. lol

It’s Thursday and I’ve just missed my bus, so I may as well update here.

It’s been a craaaazy busy week in work and life. Tomorrow is a board meeting that I have to provide financials for and let’s just say we’ve been a few months behind on that.

Tomorrow is also the office holiday party, which I coordinate. Don’t get me wrong, I delegate like a bastard but there are soooo many balls in the air. Plus!!! Because of this mother****ingcocksuckin party, I have to miss my Friday night poker! Josie 2.0

Son is supposed to come home on Saturday for tree trimming so I don’t foresee poker at all.

However, I came here to post about H&F.

Let’s see...sat & sun I had monster workouts. Mon and Tues no workouts at all. Busy w mom and feeling sick and working late.

Wednesday (yesterday)
Baaaaaad day at work and I didn’t eat enough during the day. Came home, ate some ham, went to gym. Got home from that and ate chicken breast, avocado, veggies, Italian dressing.

Wednesday upper body workout
Machines
Inclined press
8x45
8x55
6x60
4x65
3x65

Pec fly
8x40
8x45
8x50lbs
8x55lbs
6x60

Lateral raises
3x8x20
2x6x25

Seated row
8x45
8x50lbs
8x55
8x60

Lat Pulldowns
Up to 110lbs

Hanging leg raises

I left the gym feeling alive and good. It dawned on me that this was the best I’ve felt in days and coincidentally (not) I hadn’t worked out in days.

Perhaps when I come home tired and late from work, the antidote is not skipping the gym.

Gonna skip the gym tonight tho. Tomorrow is the holiday party and I still have to buy a gift for the yankee swap and get my hair did. I have serious grey roots and it’s overdue.

But yeah, gonna have to skip the gym on Friday cuz of the party, so this week is a **** show.

Obv hitting the gym hard this weekend and will be in touch w Renton for my new program for next week.

No clips when you bench. If you get stuck, tilt the bar to one side until the weights fall off. It may be loud and a little embarrassing but it's the correct move and you'll get over it.

Alternatively, asking someone for a spot is also OK. With your weights it is unlikely they'd feel the usual urge to grab the bar unless you need it.

Happy Monday, my peeps!

I worked out both Saturday and Sunday. Yay me.

More importantly, I spent some time in the emergency room with my son on Saturday. He has a pilonidal cyst on his lower back/butt area, that goes crazy when he's stressed, and his last final was on Saturday, but because he was in the hospital they extended it to this Monday morning at 8am.

Even though he still can't sit and is in a ton of pain and on pain killers.

At least the finals are done and he's back home, laying down being cranky.

According to Boy Wonder:

A. I stress him out and he's under enough stress.
B. I love that he's in pain cuz I get to play nurse.
C. Just because a doctor says so, he doesn't have to listen.

Grrrrrr I am trying not to stress him out more, so I'm not arguing with any of the above, except...He HAS to take his ****ing antibiotics. OMFG I pretty much had to force him and I'm serious. It took about 2 hours, but there are some things I won't back down on, one of them is his health and doctor's orders.

He thinks he doesn't have an infection, that it's possible that he doesn't, I should say. Perhaps. However, if the doctor thinks he needs the antibiotics, I am making him take them, and will not leave him until he does. And he has to take them FOUR TIMES PER DAY.

Never heard of antibiotics with that kind of dosage, but whatev. So 2 hours to force him to take one, and then pretty much have to start on the next.

Believe me, after me nagging for two straight hours, you'd do what I tell you to do as well.
