Letís get up to date. Ate some crappy stuff over weekend but portions were small. Below is list of crap I ate on Saturday.



Sardines: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

Was active stepwise and did floor exercises & yoga session during weekend but no gym.

Gym Monday, weight machines, aqua fit class

Gym Tuesday: huge workout 2.5 hrs cuz it took that long to get access to the barbells. I just kept doing other shiat and going back. Feeling good, tho I lost that pound I had gained. 🤷🏻*♀️ perhaps cuz of no strength training 4 days in a row.

Treadmill 30 min @3.5 mph 7.5 incline

Pec fly
Deltoid fly
Lat pull downs
Suspended leg lifts
Suspended triceps dips
Thigh machine
Hip adduction
Hip abduction
Dead lifts
Lat raises
Biceps curls
Shoulder press

3 sets of each @ max weight for me. Will up weights again tomorrow.

Iím missing shiat too but u get the idea.

What is your motivation? What drives you to be so consistent with training?

I was running today and somewhere along the way the question " why the heck am I doing that ? " popped up in my head. I couldn't give myself any good answer. Actually my only answer was it is inertia. I am doing that for years.

After I've skipped a couple of days, it's hard to get back into the routine.

Here's what keeps me going:

1. Trying new things - changing things up. I've done a plank challenge, kick boxing, my pull-up challenge (still a challenge) incorporating dead lifts....and learning about all of these things. Doing the same exact stuff is boring, plus your body becomes efficient at it. Next up for me is putting squats back in my rotation and learning how to do a proper bench press. Learning something new challenges me and keeps me interested.

2. Health - I have some serious health issues that I haven't gotten into here. It's under control now because my weight is. I have no desire to return.

3. Accountability - This forum. I don't report every bite I eat here but I post and it really helps. I get a lot of good advice here and would feel like schmuck if I didn't utilize it. I also use MFP.

RE: running - I don't run but I do a lot of fast walking...what makes it enjoyable and easier for me is that I do it to fun fast music. Do you listen to music when you run? The beat helps so much. Also, I'm a big advocate of the gym. If I skip the gym with the intention of working out at home, I either do very little or nothing, yet if I show up to the gym I get a good workout. People are different, but I just can't do it at home.

Wednesday:
20 min walk before work, 45 min walk at lunch, 50 min walk after work.
11.6k steps thus far

The weather is so beautiful here in Boston. It was mid 80ís most of the day. My sis met me at my bus stop for the after work walk. We wouldíve done the whole hour but it got too dark too soon.

At home, no gym:
Real Push ups: 4,6,3 Josie 2.0
Push ups off step: 3x13
Pull-up attempts & hanging Josie 2.0
Suspended leg raises
Burpees 3x12
Table pull ups Josie 2.0

I have 12 lb weights at home so I will do some flys, curls, overhead presses, etc. probably. Josie 2.0

When I started this log someone asked me what my end goal was and to provide a photo of someone I wanted to look like. I googled Ďfit womení Ďwomen with muscle toneí I found some photos but none were quite right, but I found one!!!!

Here is the esthetic Iíd like to achieve!



Sheís muscular but not bulky. Josie 2.0

I kinda think itís possible...except for the breast implants. Not interested in those but I can close with a good bra.

I have my visual goal!

Did 2 sets w dumbbells at home. Really had to force myself to do the second set tho I always do 3 at the gym.

Clearly health is completely different level of motivation than being hot or cool. I am very similar with gym and with trying different stuff out. When I am in the gym I usually overdo because the logic is: If I already invested the time for biking here then I have to do the best out of it. So I do another set of this and few reps of that and at the end an hour on the bicycle to kill it. And then I end-up with shaky knees and vow to do next time light, but it repeats. Gym is somehow very inducing to do more.

But I am also easily bored and try a lot of different stuff. I have changed now fro the girls' gym to both sexes gym. They offer kickboxing. I am toying with idea to try it out just for giggles. Also still on the pull-up thing.

Re: Music.
That is currently big time on my to do list. Don't laugh about me, but I am kinda dumb with a bunch of stuff that for many is just normal and obvious. I have to conquer my phone better to be able to listen to stuff better. I have an android. With music I have found a solution, but what I actually would like to listen to are podcasts. The problem is somehow that many you can play only on itunes. I have to figure out if I can install it on android. And I think that many you can't download so that you have to have good internet connection. But that is somehow not logical. ....

Sry for cluttering your log with my stuff. It is because you seem to have figured out a bunch of stuff better than me.

Yes the gym definitely induces more, and add 2 hrs of biking to that...wow.

Kickboxing class I went to was tough but fun. There was a lot of calisthenics thrown in too, and it was good to learn how to throw different punches and kicks properly.

I read that you changed gyms, and the saunas are fully nude w both men and women. Do the men stare at the womenís bodies or vice versa? I hope the new gym is closer to you.

Podcasts are good to listen too but I do prefer music when working out. I am an IT dummy...I just download music into my library, which I can handle.

I donít have much figured out. I still have to sometimes talk myself into getting started.

Also, no sardines on Wednesday. There was grilled chicken snack instead.

Thursday:
Just got home from the gym. Not eating sardines...substituting 2 hard boiled eggs instead. I do have 1 can of them in the house and I donít mind eating them but warm hard boiled eggs just seem more a peeling.

Someone stole my denim jacket from the gym tonight. ☹️ I didnít even report it. Itís pouring out, maybe she needed it more than I did, tho it was new and it wasnít too big on me, like most of my other jackets.

Because it was raining, jacket was wet so I chose to hang it on the community rack in the womenís locker room vs locking it up w my bag. When I went to get it, it was gone. Josie 2.0

Anyway...

Had a great workout. 2 hrs

Spent some time on my dead lifts. Set up the big weights as a base to rest the barbell on...and I didnít want to curl up and die afterwards. Progress!

First set of 8 @ 65 lbs went up soooo easy tho my focus was on:

Keeping my butt down
Chest out
Bar close to shins
Engage all muscles
Muscles so flexed that the bar is coming up before I even pull.

3 sets @ 75 lbs 9,8,7

I feel like I get it now and will add another 10 lbs next week.

Increased weight on overhead press 40 lbs each!

Increased weight on hip adductor too. 130 lbs.

Forgot to do Lat pull downs but did everything else.

9,014 steps today.

Those eggs 🥚 are calling my name.

Saturday. Spent 5 hours selling homemade marshmallows & chocolate in Somerville. Josie 2.0

A daughter of one of the Ďgoddessesí just graduated from college, culinary major, got married, and just bought the business Sweet Lydiaís. They make high end (expensive) truffles and other sweets.

Sheís been setting up tables at local markets & fairs so my friend Kim and I volunteered. My sis thinks Iím crazy but Iím happy to help out a young hardworking woman (who calls me Auntie Josie). These kind of businesses sink more than swim.



Hit the gym after that.

Great workout, mostly upper body. 100 min total.

Not gonna list it all but I increased the weight again on my pec fly! Now doing 60lbs. Worked up from 30 lbs about a month ago.

Lat pull down. Now 95 lbs. added 5 lbs from last time. Next time will attempt 100. For some reason Iíd stopped doing these until Renton mentioned itís the same muscles as a pull up. Ohhhhhh Josie 2.0

Ended the night w sardines!



Erm, blue cheese doesnít really go with sardines. Josie 2.0 I ate it all anyway, then had a spoon of cookie butter to end it all. 🤷🏻*♀️

I see. I do that every Thursday. Just mark all "home" except for the one game that day since it won't let you not pick everything, and that way maybe not a disaster if I never get back to it. Because, you know, I don't actually know anything about any of the teams personally.

Sunday: lower body

I prepared myself for deadlifting. Stretches, hip bridges on 1 & 2 legs, and watched som DL videos. (Thank you Cha!)

Set up all the weights fairly easily Josie 2.0

DL 8x75 lbs 2x8x85lbs

The 85 lbs went up very easily. Well I mean it was heavy and all but not a struggle. Nothing like before. And it felt good.

Will increase to 95lbs this week.

I havenít done a squat in a couple of months. My knees donít hurt at all, so it was time to go back.

3x15 w 25lb plate. Eventually I got thighs to a 90 degree angle but not at first.

Lat pull downs 3 sets, 100 lbs. boom!

Seated leg press 2x12x130 8x150lbs

Yoga, burpees 20 min

Treadmill 15 min 8.5 incline 3.5mph

Sardine free day but I just had 🥩 steak for dinner.

Iíve increased my daily calories but increase is for protein only. Think itís going good.Josie 2.0

I came back from goddess weekend down a pound oddly enough and since then Iíve gained it back plus 2 lbs which I hope is muscle. Iíve increased my weights continually since the protein increase so Iím hoping Iím building muscle. Josie 2.0 is

125 lbs

Bench pressing: I really want to start bench pressing. I havenít yet cuz I donít know how much weight to start with, and wonder if I need someone to spot me so I donít get trapped underneath.

Question! Which weight machine can I use that would build my bench pressing muscles( chest? )

Should I start w an empty bar?
