I've never had lentils before!

Would I put dry lentils into a curry or would I have to soak them first?

Saturday: I ate more than usual and not protein. I took special care to ensure I logged everything I ate, just so I would know how bad it was. In the big scheme of things, not all that bad calorie-wise. I was on the go all day and part of that included going to a back-yard party. (there were big gooey homemade chocolate brownies at the party which I did not eat. I should lose 2 lbs just for THAT effort.)

Unfortunately, there was no huge effort to eat enough protein. Imma kick up my protein this coming week. So without further ado...

calories 1515 (yep)
protein 61g (I KNOW!)
Fat 91g
carbs 144g (again, i ****ing KNOW)

This is not eating for success, I am fully aware. I'll post the food logs next. Since you see my good days, you may as well see a bad one.

Well, it was a bad one, FOOD WISE. Strength training wise, it was on point. I had a great workout - felt strong and did more than I have in the past couple weeks.

I was spinning away on my exercise bike when a chick came by to say "Miss, the gym is closed."

Oops!

She mentioned this at 8:10. The gym closed at 8:00pm. People don't exercise on Saturday night? Every other night the gym is open until 10 or 11pm. *sigh*

Next post will have my food logs and workout log too.

Oh, I played poker Friday night - some hands badly. I'll give you the details later on. Luckily I wound up ahead anyway, to the tune of about 6 hundy, but it could've been more. While waiting for the PLO game to start I played some 2-4, which frankly I'm better at, but I made a couple of tough folds only to see I folded the best hand to bluffs. Whatev! Bad folds - crazy guys.

Like ****. It was a vehicle for the peanut butter I shouldn't have had. And you know, accompanied the Shiatty Pringles I took from my son.

Sunday was better.

I remember when I used to wake up on the UWS and stroll out with the dogs to the nice bakery, squabble a little with the chick behind the counter about whether or not dogs were allowed inside (she'd always concede after I told her she looked cute), get a croissant and coffee, go sit at Riverside Park and watch the ships as the dogs scrambled for flaky, buttery droppings. Now that was a good ****ing croissant. This one sounds like ****, but that one was great. I don't think there's a bakery what makes a decent one within 100 miles now. Sigh.

Yes, I had an amazing buttery croissant about a week ago. Dunkin ones are not even in the same hemisphere but I ate it. Nom, nom, nom

Sunday/Funday! (Yesterday)

I had to go into the office for about 5 hours on Funday, yesterday. Good times. Regardless, food was more on track; less calories and carbs, as well as a tiny bit more protein. Progress!

Calories 1226
Protein 76g
Fat 63g
Carbs 87g

Also, I prepped some roasted veggies and some chicken for lunches so I have that going for me. In fact I'm eating some now!

I did skip the gym yesterday, entirely because they close at 8pm on Sundays. wtf! But I'm going tonight after work and maybe, just maybe, my son will go too!

He's gorgeous and perfect but you'd guys classify him as 'skinny-fat'. I asked him what his goal is for joining the gym.

*blank stare*

"You know, your goal, what results you want from working out..."

He blinked at me.

"Like do you want to lose weight....or gain muscle....or improve stamina..."

"All of the above."

Well he weighs 140lbs so I doubt weight loss is his actual goal. I think it's to build muscle but I guess we'll see.

"We can swim together!" I told him buy he rolled his eyes at me. Fine! They also have racket ball courts there and though I've never played racket ball it sure looks fun. He might be getting a racket for his birthday!

Food logs to follow.

Happy Monday everyone!

Just for shiats and giggles here is me cashing out Friday night. This represents about $400 in winnings. $100 went to son. $300 toward this months training.

I'd really like to pay for training without dipping into poker roll.

Friday night was crazy playing both 2/4 nl (same as 2/5) and crazy plo!

I'm not familiar with dunkin donuts wraps but I find it hard to believe it's really only 170 calories? What is that like a wrap for ants?

Monday night! 7/10/17

Just got back from the gym. Had a great workout! Shoulder muscles are kinda burning and my hands ache a little, but it's all good. Haven't been squatting and knees feel great. Also doing my glute bridges to stretch my hips which I think also helps my knees. Anyhow, below is my workout. I really wanted to swim but I've committed to the bike for the month of July so whatev. Hopefully tomorrow will be bike and swim. Who knows.

Food is steadily improving!

Calories 1216
Protein 112g Josie 2.0
Fat 49g Josie 2.0
Carbs 94g Josie 2.0

Those are some good looking numbers!

In gun news...son went to check out the guns. 2 were old and very rusty (yay) but there was one other in great condition (boo) according to him. It's a 30/30 Winchester, and small. Josie 2.0

I agreed he could have it w the following conditions:

Inspection to make sure it's functional
Get a case w a lock
Get a job*

*Yep, he really wants a gun and I really want him to get a summer job.

Guess who has a sudden renewed interest in employment? ☁️silver lining!

Thanks guys! Dress felt very slinky and sexy. Will def wear again if the sun should ever shine again.

Curry was def an indian curry. Spices like yellow curry, turmeric, cardamom, paprika and of course coconut milk.

Actually I just threw out the last of the curry, which had been sitting in my fridge. I am so bad about leftovers!

Will def be making it again.

So how about an update? I've been too busy at work to post much. Lots & lots going on there, but the upside is, I got both a raise and a bonus. The bonus was nice but typical to what I usually get.

The raise? Def unusual. A really big increase for me, and I didn't have to ask for it. In fact, I was so busy I didn't even do a self evaluation or a review. Just made sure that everyone else did. So that's nice.

Sister is staying with me until further notice and Wednesday night she asked to go to the gym with me. Hell yeah! I'd been telling her it would help so much physically and mentally, so I was thrilled she came along.

The downside was I didn't do as much as I would normally do going by myself. Still did some stuff though. She wanted to do it all together so we did cardio (only 10 min lol) then some strength training. She only wanted to do 2 sets (fine but I always do 3), told me I was using too much weight (I wasn't) then she was done with the pool laps way before me. Again, fine. I wanted her to enjoy her time and come back, but I def prefer working out alone.

So as I'm getting out of the pool this older guy who swims a lot says to me "giving up so soon eh?" *note - I am very antisocial irl, sister is very very social. I answered that I was only giving up for tonight but I'd be back.

Sister gets into it with him - heated about judging me. OMFG I just ignore this guy - and I was hoping she would too.

Last night, I'm going back to the gym, she wants to go again, and so does son. Threesome to the gym! Pool guy was back, sister pointed him out to son. Pool guy has big handlebar mustache btw so for the rest of the night son was using his finger as a stache saying "You giving up so soon?" lol

Work out with son was really good. He kept up and we kicked butt. Some machines he used more weight and some the same as me. They both have 2 week trial memberships. I hope sis sticks with it. I suspect she'll be going during the day when Im at work which suits me fine!

Just took a walk at lunchtime to get me another Dunkin Cold Brew. Mmmmmmmm

There are two types of people that congregate at this particular Dunkin Donuts; homeless people and drug addicts. Yes I know some people may fall into both categories but lemme 'splain what I mean.

To get INTO the Dunkin Donuts one has to circumnavigate a ton of peeps. First of all there are homeless people begging for change, but then there's also the drug addicts. There's a methadone clinic close to the DD and the people getting their meds just seem to gather in droves there whenever I stop by for coffee #2.

I feel bad for both sets of peeps; the homeless peeps cuz they're living on the ****ing street, and as for the drug addicts, I feel bad for the kids. A lot of the them have kids in tow, usually in strollers. Picture a stroller or 2, with a bunch of people on the nod and smoking around the strollers. That pretty much sums it up. Those poor kids.

Anyway, when I started working in Boston in my early twenties (you know, way back when) I'd give money to every person who asked and there were lots! I mean I had a big problem. I just could not walk by with a blind eye turned. I eventually got hardened and would only give once in a while but it still bothers me.

It bothers me that all these people are homeless and I cannot figure out a solution. Trust me, I've been thinking. Buying them coffee or handing them a few bucks is not the solution. What is?

Let's assume I could donate or get others in my office building to donate money. Then what?

The only thing I could come up with is either:

a. use the money to buy socks, soap products, fast food gift cards and pass it all out.
b. use the money to actually cook some meals, pack them up and pass them out.

Neither of those solves even one person's homeless problem though, so I'm still at a loss. From there I started thinking the whole thing is too big a problem, but helping one person at a time might be the way to go.

I dunno.

Ive been thinking about it a lot though and usually my brain noodles out the correct answer, but so far, no go. If you have any thoughts lay them on me!
