Holliday, I want muscles like yours. Do you take any pre workout or post workout drinks or supplements. If so what?

Do not say protein. Josie 2.0

I only vaguely remember the last photo or video of Holiday I've seen. But he is a relatively strong dude who is like twice your size. You definitely don't want muscles "like his".

I think what you really want is more muscle. Or was there something else about Holiday's musculature that made you say that.

His chest looks bigger, more out there than previously. He’s def gaining muscle (or losing fat?)

There are plenty of guys here stronger than me, especially adjusting for bodyweight, but it is true many of them get asked if they even lift when they have a T-shirt on. This is not something that happens to me, lol. I've almost exclusively trained in the 3-5 rep ranges for strength-focused compound lifts (excepting rows which are impractical that way), and this is just how it's worked out. I'm actually now trying to shift into more hypertrophy work because I think I need to add muscle in order to get stronger.

But, I mean, in high school these guys were honing their coding skills while I was being recruited to play SEC football (and...honing my coding skills).

*Other than* the protein powders, I take Alpha-GPC an hour before the gym and creatine in my post-wo shake. I sip whey throughout the workout (1 or two scoops). Sometimes beets or a cup of coffee before the gym. Nothing magic just trying to have enough sustenance to get through the workout and recover from it.

I have used pre-workouts but not recently since I usually hit the gym in the late afternoon and it's too much caffeine for me at that time. They definitely "helped" the workout.

Chest-specific I have recently added reverse grip bench press, incline dumbell press, and dips into my routine. Just checked yesterday and I've now lost 14.5 lbs of fat in 2 months (compared to 2.5 lbs MuscleMass and 7 lbs of water weight)--measuring my navel down to 38" from 41.5", so yeah, maybe my chest just looks bigger without the belly obstructing the view.

The hell? Do the Pats know I need them to win this? If they could just stop giving up 80 yard bombs with 3 minutes left, that'd be great!

How the **** does a receiver even get that wide open? I thought these were professionals!

Oh I’m making a sauce...more like a brown gravy tho.

That sauce looks delish but wouldn’t go w worchestershire & soy sauce.

Melkerson,

I want these muscles specifically. Suggestions?

Thanks,

Josie

Ps. I meant to circle the chest muscles. The big King Kong arm is not what I’m asking about.

Flat bench press, incline bench press, dips, pushups, chest fly using dumbbell or machine. Pretty much in that order.

But you should settle on a program and take a more structured approach to going to the gym rather than dropping in and doing whatever you feel like. (*). It doesn't as much matter what program you choose as long as it includes progression: planned increases in the weight lifted, number of reps, or number of sets. This is the difference between training and exercising.

* Admittedly grunching a bit here. If that wasn't an accurate characterization of what you do in the gym, then disregard the post.

um, you're pretty spot on. I am increasing my weights and trying to hit everything, but there's no real program.

You have a pretty good point. I could buy a program...

Whoops, didn't catch that part . . . Carry on!

Any number of posters here would gladly point you towards a good existing program or create one for you for free.

Oooooo really???

I hate to be a pain in the butt, but if anyone would consider that I'd be utmost appreciative and would bake you the best brownies you've ever had in your life.

Spoiler:
unless you'd prefer a can of sardines.

Remind me; did you ever read 'Starting Strength'?

My gym appears to be the epicenter for the "Atlanta Women's Barbell Club" led by some pretty experienced (and...umm...jacked or "rib & round") chick powerlifters who do coaching for a lot of newbs especially women. I could ask one of them for a general outline.

In many, many ways the guys here may not have the best understanding of women.

Why would you think a woman would need a modified program?

There definitely doesn't need to be a difference when programming.

Well I always assumed bouncing the bar off their chests was a bit problematic, plus the billion light RDL's I've observed and when I was a rock climber there were these enormous differences in how they had to approach everything.

Probably non-zero factor of just wanting something to talk about with the powerlifter chicks though.

No I never read starting strength but I know it’s the 3 main lifts and I’ve watched some SS videos here and online.

I’m absolutely winging it but following advice to put weight on the bar and keep increasing and focusing on form.

Don’t want to pull my arm off!

I do need a program to follow. Maybe I can find something online or I can pay someone. I have a possibility: a lifter who writes programs and provides guidance for $$$. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Wanted to try BP first to see what my starting point is.

Holliday,

If you’re up for explaining my situation and seeing what she recommends I’d be very appreciative. FYI I’m not weak. I’ve noticed now that I’m close to lifting what the muscle girls lift and exceed the normal chicks.

Well I didn't really learn anything new other than "delicate lady parts" is another of those expressions I should stay away from. Standard Starting Strength program would be fine and a coach could help but there aren't any in Boston (SS I mean) looked like the closest was Middletown CT.

Basically what G4S said.

Am I misremembering or did you already go to a lifting coach?

Hmm...ok, I expected *someone* with a mathematical shot would select San Francisco, but nope and in fact no one in the league at all. As it stands, I win regardless. In fact I win by more if Green Bay loses.

But anyway it looks official now, so...I propose an amendment to our deal; Let's just ship this prize to you since it covers both buy-ins, then if you win a prize before I do again you can send me a buy-in worth. If I win another prize before you, you can just keep the buy-in regardless of what happens afterward. So basically you won't be out of pocket even if you keep having weeks like this. That seems a little more mutually beneficial to me

Omg really???? That’s beneficial to me and I know it. That’s crazy but thank you.

Somehow I get a free roll for the year instead of paying double. Unbelievable.

FYI My sister just asked me why I’m smiling at my phone. Josie 2.0

I cannot effing believe you won. I’d like to send you the balance of your winnings...after paying for buyins.
Can I ship it to you via Amazon? Like an amazon credit/gift card? I dunno we’ll figure it out.

THANK

YOU

Ps. Don’t give away any more money to random women on the internet. Starting now!

Nah it wasn’t a lifting coach, he was a personal trainer, but it was a lot of money and not convenient location. Not really lifting as much as conditioning & weight loss.

I’m going to research tonight online. Maybe I need an online coach...I dunno.
