21-22% imo. Whoever said that it's harder to guess BF at 18%+ was right.

if you're 18+ does it even matter?

If that's 22% then IMO you carry it very well, thin face minimal love handleage, etc.

TBH, that's kinda what I was thinking, and why I'm considering not even cutting. My GF says my face is still super skinny, that's usually where I put weight on quickly.

This is probably the heaviest I've been in ~4 years, I'd have to check through my log.

When I'm standing I do feel like I'm carrying my weight better, but when I'm sitting I do feel like I need to pre order a hoveround.

Ok, pretty hungover today, I haven't been hungover in a while. This isn't the worst ever, but certainly the worst in a long time. Felt like I'm gonna have to puke all morning, killer headache when I woke up. I ate some fig newtons and some lay's potato chips and washed it down with gatorade and ibuprofen and I def feel a lot better.

I'm trying to remember what I drank last night, but it's hazy. I think it went something like:

Before dinner:

Glass of Hi Rye Bourbon
Glass of Lagavulin Single Malt
Glass of Glen Garioch Single Malt

With dinner:

Glass of Glenlivet Single Malt

After dinner:

Glass of Jameson Irish Whiskey
Pint of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Pint of Great White Unfiltered Wheat Ale
Pint of Lagunitas IPA

Yup, think that's about right. So dumb. I feel ******ed. I was just telling someone a few days ago that sometimes you just gotta drink too much so you remember what it's like and take a break for a while. I was half joking I guess.

Anyway, I was supposed to lift with a buddy but I dunno what happened. He'll be joining me next week.

So here is what my workout looked like:

Squat: 275 for 4 sets of 5 reps

So brutal feeling like this, mostly on my stomach. Def doesnt help with the 'I'm gonna puke any second' feeling. My form sucked pretty bad, though the weight seemed slightly easier. Meh. Just overwhelming puke sensation, so I stopped at 4 sets. W/e.

Bench: 147.5 for 5 sets of... max?

Just loaded it up and maxed out 5 times. It was not very impressive.

Off to smash some PLO

It's fine to have a light-medium session if you're absurdly hung over since it inevitably ends up like the above anyway.

DF is prob right, as always. Unless that's a very good pic you're prob closer to 20.

Makes sense.

It's more likely a good pic, than closer to 20% imo. I would prefer the latter but don't think it's the case

I've never done body caliper measurements for BF% how do they work? Do they measure arms and legs and stomach and stuff? Because if you measured my arms or legs it would probably say I was 8% BF. If you measured my stomach it would prob say 32% (at least).

But I'm probably misunderstanding the process.

OK I've been craving some BBall so I finally got a chance to go after feeling well enough.

I got there and there was wayyyy too many people there. I waited a while and they shot for teams for full court. THE FIRST 10 PEOPLE ALL MADE THEIR FTs. WTF. I've never seen it before, you usually get 2 chances to make it, I got zero. W/e

So at least I'm automatically on the next game.

Pretty good team I'm on. Played with some before, the others pass the eye test. The other team is quite small, but ofc they're all quick and good shooters.

It was a really close game, I was actually playing pretty legit D, tho my team got burned quite a few times on some PnR stuff. The problem is, I almost ALWAYS go under screens because if they shoot I'm usually glad, I just am not going to let them beat me inside. But they hit a couple off some good screens.

I had a really nice sequence. I got the ball kicked out to me on the perimeter and was WIDE open with the key cluttered so I just shot it, SWISH. 2 points is good. I run down help get a stop. I go to the same spot. I get the ball, but my defender closed me out really quickly. I ball faked left right as a screen came and torched everyone all the way to a sweet finish. That's about all the good I was able to do offensively.

We ended up losing in a close finish, and I fatigued way quicker than I would have liked to.

I'm gonna hopefully play tomorrow and get back to it

Haha, yeah I've been toning it way back and prob will for a while.

Alright I played ball today. It was really nice out today, high 60s so I went to the park, texted dude I play with out there and he showed up, too. Were about the same height and build with similar games so I like to learn from him.

The first game was kind of a joke.

Game 1: Loss 1-11 I scored the only point my team had. 4 guys showed up, they looked like skaters and couldn't even dribble the ball. We tried to play. I was forced to play PG and despite the fact that I did a pretty good job creating for the other 2 players, they couldn't even hit the rim. Bleh.

Game 2: Win 15-9 Better players this time, all the way around. Chubby native American guy on our team is 3 point specialist and we basically just did basic PnR stuff and drive it and try and score or kick it to the shooter for the open 3.

Game 3: Win 15-6 Just 2 on 2 here, me and dude I texted to come down. We play pretty well together. It was pretty funny. He goes, "Didn't you have a elbow jumper...?" I was like 'meh not really, I can try it I guess.' I proceeded to use the screen for like 6 straight elbow jumpers that all went in LOL. I guess I do have an elbow jumper, I do practice it, just don't really execute it in games.

Game 4: Loss 12-15 pretty brutal collapse from me, mostly on D, I was just so winded. I still played pretty well on O just got owned on the other side of the ball. Meh.

I didn't play that well overall, my D was pretty bad. I think I played timidly because I was afraid of reinjuring myself. Great workout, tho. I was out there for almost 2 hours.

Alright, I think I'm getting called into work today (hence the -300 odds I set of it happening) so I got up early to lift. Too early for my buddy to join me, so I went solo again. W/e

Here is what I did:

Squat: 275 for 5 sets of 5

Stickin with the January Squat workout. I don't seem to be getting any stronger with this but w/e it's a solid squat sesh

Sitting KB Press: 35 for 1 set of 10 reps

Tried this as per KC's recommendation. NO DICE. My right arm/shoulder was enraged by this. Very frustrating. Guess I have to retire from pressing.

Bench: 135 for 5 sets of 10 reps

A little bit lower weight on this to protect my arm. It didn't protest too much, but there was def pain involved. Guess I'm gonna have to be a bench monkey

DL: 265 for 1 set of 10 reps

Unreal how much this makes me outta breath. Ugh

Anyway, I think I'm going to go smash a buffet before (probably) working tonight

Don't think it matters too much. You're still just lifting once a week right?
JonFon Starts Another Program Quote
01-24-2013 , 01:12 AM
Yup, weights just once a week. Vert training on thursdays and basketball spread out through the week when I can.

Speaking of basketball, I played yesterday. Here is what happened.

Picked up a buddy, we went to the park and warmed up.

Started with a game of HORSE, was actually pretty pathetic. Took us forever to finish the game, I think there was like a 20 shot sequence of bricked jumpers from both of us. I finally won HO-HORSE

After that we played 1-1 winners to 11. I won pretty handily.

After that we played 21 and I shipped pretty easily as well.

Another dude showed up so we played 21 with the 3 of us.

Dude who showed up won the first game, I think I finished with 10 points, didn't play that well.

My buddy won the second game, really stepped it in the paint, less settling for jumpers. I think I finished with 16 points.

My arm was killing me in the last game, was really, really bad. I lose all my strength which means I can't shoot for crap, I pretty much have to figure out how to finish lefty if I wanted to score.

I did realize something pretty nice. During the 21, I usually started by dribbling around just behind the arc and tried to break down my defender. I got it sometimes but overall it was pretty tough, especially with the 2nd defender right there as a back up. Toward the end I tried something new that worked wayyy better. I started at about half court with the ball instead of the arc. I had more space this way (obv) so I used it to get moving extremely fast and by the time I was at the arc, all I had to do was an explosive cross over, pick up the ball and get to the rim. Way more effective.

Fun times

The way to do 21 without an outside shot (ime) is to line up the first defender so when you start backing him down (from the 3 point line ldo) or driving by him, you try to force him *into* the help defender so there is a bit of a cluster F. The help defender is never actually playing proper help...he's just standing there until it looks like you may go by the first guy. So he's not gonna actively change his positioning as quickly as he should.

I guess what I'm saying is that, at that point you can then actually try a move, or (what I try to do), is then post up the 2nd defender while they are a bit dicombobulated.

The only issue with this is that it "breaks down" when my opponents learn that the flawless 21 defense against me is to just crowd me with two guys from the beginning. I can't get around them without it getting stolen a highish % of the time, and backing down 2 guys at the same time from 3pt range is....well, it's not fun, lol.

Vert training today!

One step 2 legged jumps: 3 sets of 20

Reactive quick jumps: 3 sets of 20

Speed jump rope: 3 sets of 120

Lateral jumps over bench raised 1": 3 sets of 20

High jumps over obstacle: 3 sets of 10

Wow so tired. I almost feel like I caught something that's going around that's hindering my cardio capacity. I'm prob just being a vag

1 minute rest in between sets, took me about 45 minutes to complete.

I hurt my foot a couple days ago, feels like a stress fracture. I worked my way around it mostly today, tho I aggravated it by landing weird on one of the jumps.

I hope to work up to solidly doing over an hour of this stuff 2x a week over the next month or so.

I couldn't sleep today so I woke up and went to the gym to play ball. I'm extremely happy with the fact that I remained completely injury free and didn't aggravate my shoulder or foot. No idea how.

Here is what happened.

Showed up and warmed up, gym was pretty empty. A couple guys showed up that I've played with quite a bit at the gym. One guy is about my size. A little bit better on offense than me and a really solid defender. The other guys is tiny but is quick and has a good shot and can get to the rim. So we decided to play 21.

Game 1: Victory I don't remember the scores, I just know I dominated through shooting. They basically just stood in the paint and clogged the key and forced me to shoot outside. I alternated between 1s at the top of the key and 2s that were open. I hit a surprising amount and my jump shot single handedly and unexpectedly carried me to victory.

Game 2: Loss I stayed pretty close but the little guy dominated pretty much exclusively from behind the arc. I played better D on the guy my size and had trouble guarding the little guy. Good practice, tho.

By the time we wrapped up the last game of 21 we had enough for 5s. We lined up and shot for teams. My team was pretty good and I knew that if I could just dominate the glass I would put our team in a good place to win.

Game 3: Victory I don't remember the score, but I had 5 of the 15 points. 1 on a coast to coast fast break, 4 on rebound/put backs. It was kind of funny. There were two girls who were playing with us. Both tiny (pretty cute) wearing class of '12 shirts. They were split up and when we lined when the game started, one of the girls marched right over to me as if to guard me. I was like, 'Uh, maybe you wanna guard her?' But she wasn't having any of it. She proceeded to (unsuccessfully) guard me the whole game. It was pretty easy to bait her into trying to steal, do a simple cross over and be wide open. She def played with her hands all over me which was... mmmm

Game 4: Loss I'm not really sure what happened here. I thought the winners would stay on, and we kinda did but someone decided to mix the teams up and we went from there. There was some pretty big dude who was on the other team who I guarded. I was back to my solid, solid defense and did a great job of slowing him down (lol at stopping him). I think I held him to 3 points. But we had a very limited offense and I think I went 0-3 from pretty close shots which was frustrating. I was pretty tired as well.

I was going to stick around and keep playing, but I realized I'd made it through over 1.5 hours at the gym totally healthy so I figured I wouldn't push it.

Before I got to the gym I scrubbed the bottom of my shoes and took a knife to the bottom to try and create more traction on the worn out parts. I'm not sure what part of it worked but my shoes were nice and sticky and allowed me to play the defense that I love to play and be more explosive on offense.

Great workout.

Drank too much last night, what else is new. It wasn't devastating or anything, I think it was ~11 beers over the course of 6 hours or so. Slight headache today, nothing too crazy.

Anyway, I lifted today, here is what it looked like:

HBBS: 275 for 5 sets of 5 reps

Here is the video of my 1st set:

Man this was super heavy and pretty brutal but I think I might just perma-switch to HBBS. I think my body and back like it quite better. This was understandably heavy, this is my typical LBBS weight, and it's easier to do more weight on LBBS, right? Anyway, looking forward to this more over the course of the year.

HBBS: 135 for 1 set of 20 reps

Nice little cardio, here. I like it.

Bench: 150 for 5 sets of 10/9/8/8/7

Was really hoping for sets of 10 across but I am tiny-upper-body-weak-bro. I'll get it. I hope. Someday I'll get it.

Bench: 75 for 1 set of 25 reps

More lolcardio

Deadlift: 275 for 1 set of 10 reps

Ok this might not count as '1 set' but here is how I did it: I just put my stop watch in front of me and did a rep every 20 seconds. This was perfect. Didn't get too out of breath until the last couple reps, my grip felt good, the weight felt good.

Deadlift: 135 for 1 set of 20 reps (speed)

Went through this really quickly, felt good, more lolcardio. My grib (double overhand ldo) about collapsed on the final rep tho.

Croc Rows: 35 for 25 reps on each arm

Haven't done these in forever, started pretty light.

That's all for today.
